Not sure if it's because I ordered the flakey crusted egg tarts rather than their cookie crusted ones. Not sure if it's this location compared to their Central location. Not sure if it's because it's been commercialized under a restaurant group so the recipe isn't as great. There's this odd after taste, like something cinnamon or some sorts. I couldn't pinpoint it. The custard had a good consistency of milk/egg ratio, not overly sweetened. The custard part was great, it was just the tart itself that threw me off. They had a buy 5 get 1 free deal on all egg tarts, and it's packed in a handy colorful box.

Pretty much my favorite egg tarts. It's really surprising that some Tai Cheong doesn't have the…read morecrispy(sou pei) egg tarts and only the butter egg tarts. Although I eat both, I fairly enjoy the crispy(sou pei) egg tarts just a tad more. The sides that are super flaky and crisp while you bite into it vs the butter egg tarts where you can taste a lot of the butter(which isn't a bad thing). I just feel that the crispy egg tarts has a little more texture to it. I don't know if the deal is ever gonna change but so far all Tai Cheong has this deal where you buy 1 and if you add 1 more, it only cost 1 more HKD. So it would be only $7 HKD...sooooo awesome. Even if you can't finish it, you still wanna get it just cause it's such a great deal. -1 star cause sometimes they don't serve HOT egg tarts which is a bummer. The worst feeling is when you have the luke warm egg tarts that just doesn't do it justice.

Since 1984, the bakery focuses on traditional treats. Loved the banana cake which is light and addictively delicious. The pan fried mochi with sesame seeds is so unique. The shop has a decent line that moves quickly. No surprise that it has been Michelin recommended and featured on Netflix. Next time, I'll try the wife cake.

The restaurant is small and is easy to miss as the door does not indicate any English name . Be sure to look for a black door and you will not miss it for sure. The house sits approx 22-25 people ( inclusive of 4 bench seating ). It is a rare to find cafe in the Tai Wai area so be sure to arrive early if you do not want to wait . The menu has extensive selection of deserts which unfortunately I did not manage to try after my onigiri set . They serve a few variety of set lunches such as Kobe beef rice set ( was a special menu) , hamburger need rice set ( chefs recommendation), karaage rice set ... Etc I tried the onigiri set and also the hamburger beef set . It was not bad but portions are small for guys ! My salmon onigiri set came with 2 onigiri ( one salmon and the other with corn and bonito flakes. The salmon onigiri had minimal salmon which was disappointing and I wished they toasted my onigiri !! Would have made it so much nicer Overall the hamburger set was yummy . I would definitely come back to try the dessert next time I'm in the area !!

I always order their mango series because it's always yummy and not overly sweet. You can taste that it is made with mangoes! Good thing that I like to order in this restaurant is tofu, sweet dessert. It's usually very very smooth and again not overly sweet. This place can't really go wrong if you wanted to have some nice dessert. The service is really quick. The waiters would come to you immediately and ask you for your order. Usually people come and know what they want to get. The place itself is quite small, so there isn't a lot of seatings people come and go quickly I would have given it five star if the seats are more comfortable But it is kind of crowded and a bit rush. I knocked down star. But if you're here, just for the food and don't care for the environment and ambience, this is a place to go !
