It is a great little place, serving a range of really hearty home dishes of meats, poultry, seafood and more. However, the real signature of Choco Duck is the fresh hand made pasta. What can I say, "OMG" (apologies if I sound like a 14 year old girl). The fresh tagliatelle may not look pretty, trading a manufactured uniformity for a rustic hand made charm, but the taste is absolutely divine, a real delight. Teaming this with a carbonara "sauce", made with lardons, egg yolk, parmesan and nothing else, just elevated this pasta dish to an ethereal status. The simplicity of the cooking let each and every ingredient do its part, which is so refreshing in over-sauced HK. At last a carbonara that doesn't rely entirely on cream. Just be warned that some of the dishes require 24 hours notice, but are unfortunately not on their online menu. If you fancy a roast chicken, you may have to pop in the day before and have a chat to Choco. One small food critique, the calamari could have been cooked a little longer, but that's fairly small potatoes when I think about how good the pasta is!. It's unfortunate that Choco Duck is on Cheung Chau island - a 45 min ferry ride from Central, followed by a leisurely 10 min stroll from the public ferry. The restaurant itself is set in a sort of public square, and has plenty of seating inside and out. Aside form the pasta, a big draw is the owners Choco and Duck. Choco is chef-patron, and it is a delight to watch her work, with only one sous chef, in the open kitchen. You will see that the pasta really is handmade. Duck is a fine fellow who likes to keep your drinks topped up, another vital part of dining, certainly in my book!

At the very least, it meets expectations of a good restaurant. On the food side, the Blue Lobster dish is top-notch for what it is. On the other hand, the Sweetened Pistachio Cream initially fell flat -- until I discovered that mixing in the accompanying sugar coated pistachios gives the texture and some sweetness necessary to enhance the otherwise flat flavor. Unexpectedly, my favorite thing came from the petit fours. An unassuming almond shortbread cookie that proved the perfect complement to the otherwise lackluster Pistachio Cream. The outstanding thing here is the decor, for those who like luxurious opulence. Settled within the St. Regis Hotel, modern luxurious grandeur exudes throughout. Something that photos can't capture, but can be experienced in person. Service is on par for restaurants of this caliber, with the staff going above and beyond. I was super impressed when a waiter proficiently pulled out a flashlight to spotlight an abalone so I can take a better photo. Kinda funny. And a first for me. With Hong Kong being the paradise for food, amazing restaurants can be found for all price ranges. Why spend on a Michelin Star one when you can find way better food elsewhere? For an appetizer we ordered the dim sum platter which had eight different types. Each one was absolutely delicious. Loved them. We also got the Flaming Peking Duck, and it was perfect. I can confidently say that it was the best I've ever had. Take a look at the pics and video and tell me it doesn't look delicious! We also ordered the chef's veggie fried rice, which is one of my longtime favorites on the menu; excellent. You come to Hutong not only for the fabulous northern Chinese cuisine, but you also come here for the upscale fine dining experience. It's a much more refined environment than say the New York Hutong, which I recently reviewed. I could go on and on of each dumpling, but you have to try them out for yourself to get the full experience. The Fujian Fried Rice was arguably the best fried rice I ever ate. An abundance of seafood, mushrooms and gailan matched perfectly well with the fried rice. I can see why this place is always a popular spot for afternoon tea among the locals as it definitely check off the main factors I look for in a dim sum spot: affordability, comfort, and taste. For a good decade and then some, this place was complete chaos: long lines, service mishaps, and inconsistent food. SInce the self order kiosks were introduced years and the recent expansion of the East Hall seating, thus resulting in a much more organized experience. Wonton noodles have always been one of their best options. It's been a morning / lunch staple and a sure thing for first timers. Their congee has been excellent a majority of the time, along with somes solid stir fried options from noodles to shrimp and egg. They also have beef brisket, Where they suffer a bit is with the Chinese BBQ (siu mei), in which it's lacking severely, which doesn't fare well given its the priciest item. If one is desperate for goose and bbq pork, this may work in a pinch. Don't bother with the Hainanese chicken. Trust me. Like all things at the airport, it's a bit overpriced. The kiosks accept all major forms of payment and is far more English friendly than ever. While coming to the airport really hungry should always be avoided (#2), there are more convenient options than ever. ___________ (#1) Grammatically anyway. (#2) Even lounge food is rarely excellent. The BBQ pork was so incredibly tender and flavorful--probably some of the best I've had. The wontons were perfect comfort food. * The Process: Super efficient ordering system, which is great when you're watching the clock for a flight. You just order on the kiosk, wait for your number to pop up on the screen, grab your tray and condiments, and you're good to go. * The Vibe: The service was very friendly even though it's quick-service style. It's located in a huge airport eating area, so we had zero issues finding a table to sit down and relax. Definitely the best way to say goodbye to Hong Kong. Highly recommend!
