I have become a fan of Cafe de Coral during my visit in HK. I love how convenient the locations are (there's like 4 in Central alone!). I LOVE the fact that staff and customer interaction is minimal since HK seems to be known for terrible service. I was a bit confused the first time I went to a Cafe de Coral since the ordering system isn't familiar to me. You order at the cashier, pay via cash or octopus card, then go around to the other counter to show them your receipt and they prepare your meal for you. Simple enough, just not something I'm used to. After you receive your meal, you grab a seat. When it's busy, it's cafeteria style dining so you can grab a seat with anyone. When it's quieter, you can get your own table if you want.
Food wise, it's pretty good and filling. It's Chinese fast food, but at least you have variety that doesn't mean eating chow mein or fried rice all the time. I ordered a wonton noodle dish with char siu and bok choy which was surprisingly very good, although it was made with udon noodles. A little weird, huh?
I have ordered the lemon tea and the milk tea at cafe de coral and both are great! Nothing like drinking like a real Hong Konger(?). read more
