As a Francophile, first off I must point out the name of the salon. Âme means soul in French. And trust me you feel its soul before you even walk in. Bright, airy, and cozy, this salon makes you feel like you're nourishing your soul. Everything looks amazing - the remodel looks good and it's nice to be inside a place where everything is a new and fresh. Now, about the hair. I've known Sara, the owner for 7 years. She not only does a fabulous precision cut for bobs, but she also gives the best scalp massage I've ever had - which means that the new part of her business - scalp care and trichology - is going to take off 10000%. Anyway. Sara is a lovely human being, treats people with respect, and emanates with warmth and creativity. IMO the perfect person to do your hair or recommend you to someone on her talented team of stylists. The neighborhood is also wonderful - restaurants, boutiques and coffee shops abound so you can make a day of your self-care trip to the salon. I love this salon! Sara has been cutting mine and my wife's hair for years. The space is very bright and welcoming and it's in the cutest neighborhood. Parking is easy and free which is unheard of in Santa Monica and I've really enjoyed seeing how she's expressed her personality in to all the fine touches of Ame. Where to begin? I've been getting my hair colored since I was 19 years old and until Elana, every hair stylist I'd go to would try to get my color as light as I wanted, but not quite to what I'd hope for. I'd leave the salon happy, but not ecstatic - that is until I had the pleasure of having Elana do my hair!! With every cut and color with Elana, I leave the hair salon feeling my most confident & beautiful self - smiling from ear to ear all the way home!! I have dark jet black roots and it's quite hard to get my hair as light as she does, but she takes her time with me, gives me the full care from Malibu treatment to deep conditioning and always recommends the best products to help me take care of my hair outside of the salon. I can go months without seeing Elana and that's because the way she takes care of my hair and color when I do see her is always long lasting and grows out perfectly.
