I am 62 years-old so my review is long (lol) but if you are upset about losing your hair and considering SMP, I think it's worth the read. After gradually losing my hair from 2020 to 2025, I was convinced that I was going to get a hair transplant to restore my hair to what it looked like 20 years ago. In June 2025, I went to two professionals in LA and was told that I had very fine and poor donor hair. They both still wanted to proceed, but I knew in my heart I wouldn't get the result I wanted. I was devastated at the news. A year ago in November, I decided to shave my head. A lot of guys look great with shaved heads, but it wasn't right for me. I had heard about SMP so I watched a couple YouTube videos about it but thought could this be the solution? Could I really get a realistic illusion of hair if I couldn't have real hair? I was skeptical, but DESPERATE at this point because I just did not like the way I looked with no hair at all. After googling who the best SMP artist was In Los Angeles, I immediately made a consultation with Zang in April of 2026. He listened to why I was interested in SMP and was very understanding as I revealed how much my self-esteem had plummeted because of losing my hair. He was very confident and felt strongly that I could get a realistic result that I would be very satisfied with. I still was very unsure so I asked if I could bring a friend into another consultation to which he agreed free of charge. After the second consultation, I felt certain that if I were to have SMP, Zang was the best artist to do it!! I quickly booked my first two sessions in May of this year, the 2nd and 9th. After those two sessions, I wanted the color a little darker and the hairline a little lower to which he agreed so I had a third session June 6th. The results were coming along, but I collaborated with him, and we both decided to lower the hairline again (still to a realistic level) and make the hairline and sides fuller which he did on July 18th, my fourth session. My fifth session was October 3rd in which he added density and blended the whole head again. Even before I had the 5th session, already happy with my results, my ex, his sister and both nieces commented how much they like it. One of the nieces couldn't believe it wasn't my own hair! She just kept staring at it and said so that's not your hair. She said again so wait, that's not your hair? I had to let her feel it until she finally understood. My own two nephews and niece also thought it looked natural. The older nephew said it doesn't look all inked up like a tattoo. Now, my best friend who has been with me since the consultation and at every session always said it was going to look great as did Zang, and they were both right! They both encouraged me to trust the process which I have an extremely hard time doing. I like instant results. Like you get your hair cut, bam, it's done. You either like it or you don't. Not so with SMP. It truly is a process, and you have to trust that Zang will listen to your needs, offer his expert opinion and work together with you. The most unexpected but positive comment I got was from a dermatologist who asked me who did my SMP because he really was really impressed with the results. I told him Zang. Then he said again well, I like it a lot, and I have clients who ask about this procedure, and I need a good referral so could I have his number and address. Wow! Where to start. I want to say I've suffered from some form of hair loss from my late 20s. It was fairly manageable until my 30s but I knew it was time for a change once I got to my early 40s. I've always been skeptical of any type of procedure like this and even though I did my research into hair transplants and SMP, I was still a bit reluctant. Enter Zang SMP. I got in touch with them late last year and they guided me through the entire process. Hairline: I was a bit worried about how much work/how drastic I wanted my hairline to change. My first session was very conservative and gradually I got to where I am now after session 3. Unless you're 100% sure of the hairline you want, I'd say start off conservatively first and move forward as you feel comfortable. It's honestly so natural, it's totally fine to bring your hair line lower. My partner was nervous about it being too low but it looked amazing and he loves it. Bottom line this place is world class. Not just the best among the LA area providers: They are the best and happen to provide in the LA area. It's lucky if you live close enough to drive (like me) as there are plenty of clients who fly from afar to get treated here. The reason for the many many positive larger-than-life-sounding reviews for Zang SMP is simply that they are top notch all the way around. These guys are master artists and master comminicators. Much of my perfect experience here is due to Ridwan, the long time front office professional. He will take care of you like you matter, because you do. I work in a hospital and know how complex it can be to balance good customer service with also making sure patients are on the same page for goals and expectations... Ridwan did my original consult about 4 years ago to help me find out if SMP was the right fit for me. At that time I was determined to only get ink on the thinning spot on my crown and nowhere else on my head. It was clear that I was dealing with ethical professionals when he respectfully explained the likeliest trajectory of my hairloss over the next few years (he was right) and why they recommended against spot filling like that. He even had to carefully tell me they weren't a good fit for me at that time because they couldn't guarantee my satisfaction with the type of work I was insisting on. Yesterday was 2 weeks since my second session with Zang. The best way to convey how happy I am with the results is that I haven't worn a hat since 2 days after the treatment, when the redness subsided. A little background about me, I am 25 and my hair loss began around age 20. It took me a while to decide if I wanted to do SMP. Google images showed some results that looked amazing!
