From the moment we began our consultation, Dr. Dauer's genuine and considerate manner put me at ease for what would be my very first cosmetic surgery (eyebrows). In fact, he was the only surgeon who actually agreed to have an in-person consultation with me. Prior to my surgery, the communication remained very open; there wasn't a question I emailed that wasn't promptly answered. On the day of my surgery, with my nerves clearly getting the best of me, Dr. Dauer, with his incredibly calm and sincere bedside manner, assured me everything would go exactly as we'd planned. Dr Dauer isn't simply a 'hair transplant doctor', he's an artist. I researched every single hair transplant doc in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and consulted with 6 of them. While there was one other doc I think would have done a great job, Dr. Dauer inspred the most confidence in me. I trusted him, and he delivered, big time. I should mention that this was my 2nd transplant. For the first one, I didn't do nearly as much research, and went with a much lower cost doc. (FYI Dr Dauier ain't cheap.) WIth the prior doc, I got the results I paid for, which were poor. The results I got with Dr Dauer far exceeded my expectations. I went from 'clearly balding' to 'full head of hair' + he filled in some patches in my beard as well. Now, you can fly to freaking Turkey if you want, and roll the dice on some foreign doc. Or you can go to a place like Parsa Mohebi and pay 1/3 the cost of Dr Dauer. The former might get you great results, but it's a dice roll. The latter will get you poor results, pretty-much-guaranteed. The transplant process and recovery means you can't just re-do it the next day if you aren't happy with it. You'll have to wait around a year. (I suppose you could do it sooner, but seems best to wait for all the transplanted hairs to re-grow, which takes up to a year. Though it was more like 8-10 months for me.) You only get one head, and you only get so many hairs on it. For something that will dramatically affect your appearance for the rest of your life, I think it wise to invest in yourself and go with a high caliber/high cost like Dr Dauer. My 28 year old son shared with me that he thought his hair was thinning. Like all aesthetic procedures, doing small amounts early and regularly is the ideal approach. This guy is a bad doctor, he lied and said most people have bad side effects if they take oral finasteride, the truth is less than 1% experience side effects and they go away if you stop taking it. He also told me I was a bad candidate and that after a transplant "it will look worse at first". Maybe he was being honest based on his results. Dr. Dauer and staff are the best! I wouldn't go anywhere else if you want enhanced brows. My suggestion is that you let Dr. Dauer choose your shape. He knows what looks most natural and suits your face the best. He is a true artist! His staff is courteous, helpful, and sweet. I would suggest that you ask all your questions before the procedure starts because, once he starts working, he does not want you to ask questions because he needs to focus. Where to begin...for so many years...as long as I could remember I had sparse, thin, light colored and just overly awkward eyebrows from overly plucking back in the day. I also was never blessed with thick hair to begin with. I started micro blading my eyebrows when I was 18 (37 now) and have probably gone in for no less than 10-15 micro blading treatments over the years. I had my FUE transplant surgery with Dr. Dauer 1 year ago and had an amazing experience all around. I had done an ARTAS robotic hair transplant a few years earlier with a different doctor and had a terrible experience. DO NOT do the ARTAS surgery! It was extremely painful to the point where I was on Vicodin for a week, they took way more hair from the donor hair than needed, and after all of that I didn't see any results. It was the complete opposite with Dr. Dauer; the pain was minimal, as it was more uncomfortable than painful. Just had my 1 year follow up and seeing the before and after results was amazing. Dr. Dauer AND his staff are amazing!!! Everyday I wake up and continue to be amazed. I'm Asian and have super light eyebrows. It looks like I barely have any. I rarely write reviews, but Dr. Dauer is a true gem! I made the unfortunate decision years ago to do micro-blading and the lady plucked out most of my natural eyebrows without me knowing since I was numb. No matter how much serum or castor oil I tried, nothing grew back and I was very self-conscious about how they looked (since eyebrows are meant to be 3D and not look like a flat tattoo). Every morning, I would immediately wake up, run to the bathroom and fill them in so no one would see how bad they looked. I got several consultations and went with Dr. Dauer because of 1) his reputation/positive reviews 2) the beautiful eyebrow transplant work he has done (see his instagram) and 3) his personality - it was clear in our consult that this IS his talent, plus he was extremely caring about me as an individual and answered all of my questions. I was extremely nervous going into the procedure because I've never had an operation, stitches, or procedure before. Dr. Dauer immediately put me at ease, letting me know exactly how the day would go and Brenda (my nurse and an absolute angel!) was caring and reassuring, as well. I underwent surgery 3 weeks ago on 06/25 and I am glad Dr. Dauer was the surgeon I chose after extensively searching.I want to thank Dr. Dauer and his staff because they were amazing through everything from setting up the procedure, through the procedure and even following up with me to make sure everything was going well. Laura and Kendall were incredibly accommodating and gave me an early appointment that worked with my schedule. When I arrived at the office they instantly greeted me, making me feel more at ease at the fact that I am a 24 year old female coming in for a hair transplant consultation. 10 years ago I attended my high school reunion, I was 51. I was reluctant to go for many reasons and one of those concerns was how I looked. I was in pretty good shape, stayed out of the son so my skin looked okay but I was starting to loose my hair and to me the age giveaway with men is hair loss. Where do I begin? This experience was excellent on so many different levels. I hope my review does it justice because it my gratitude for Dr Dauer and his team is immense. I'll share details of the procedure and what to expect, but before that I have to say that Laura and Brenda added so much to the experience that they should both be loudly celebrated. These women clearly care about people and empathize in a genuine way, transforming moments that can induce fear and anxiety, into feeling cared for and validated. I went back and forth with Laura for almost a year after my initial Skype consultation (I was so scared!). I finally decided to pull the trigger and set a date for April. I booked my flight and decided to take a few extra days in LA. The night before my surgery I started panicking. What happens when I'm 80 and my brows don't stop growing and I can no longer trim them? What happens if it looks bad and I end up plucking them out and just wasted all this money? What if I react poorly to the anaesthetic? So many thoughts led me to decide I might not go through with it. To prep, you have to wash your hair and face, not applying any creams or conditioner. Leaving the house that morning I felt naked. I'm so used to drawing in my brows (since my early teens) and felt really insecure on my way over to the clinic. When I got there my nerves really kicked in. When Laura had me fill in the forms and asked about payment I said I didn't know if I could go through with it. She was kind and said not to worry, she'll ask Dr. Dauer to come in and chat with me and I could decide whatever I wanted for the day and not to worry. Dr. Dauer then came in. HE IS AMAZING. After searching everywhere and reading reviews on the best hair transplant MD, I luckily found Dr. Dauer in Los Angeles. The consultation was done over FaceTime, so that I did not have to fly to LA. I had big bold brows, but since it was the 90s, I plucked them following the new trend of thin brows. Im so happy that I've made the decision to get these brows filled in. On the day of my appt which was in the penthouse by the way with a very nice view, he helped me draw out an outline of what How I wanted my eyebrows to be. I just got my eyebrow hair transplant yesterday with Dr. Dauer and it was a wonderful experience!! I was very scared and nervous at first but Dr. Dauer and his assistant Brenda make you feel at ease and super duper comfortable. Everyone is super nice and caring and I felt like I was a princess. The office is nice with no dentist/doctors office feel and the room where I had the procedure done has a very nice view!! (11th floor) After the donor area is taken out you are served a delicious lunch of your choice. I had the Alfredo Chicken Lasagna..and it was so good!! I can't wait to eat there again for my follow up appointments. There is not much pain in my eyebrow area as of today but it is very swollen. And the donor site is kind of painful but I can deal... No doubt the best doctor for hair transplants. Already got a compliment from my mom's friend and she wanted me to write down his info for her husband who is balding. I love love love MDNEWHAIR!! No hesitation in recommending to anyone interested in any type of hair transplant. I had super thin eyebrows, maybe even a single hair in some places! People would ask me why i plucked my eyebrows so thin (but, i wasnt plucking at all). I was tired of always trying to fill them in, and I thought eyebrow tattoos just didn't look that good. I'm glad that I found Dr. Dauer and his team. They were very kind and did a great job.
