Had FUE with Dr Pak many years ago, he harvested from the relative small area making the hair looks thinner and patchy in the end negating the purpose of FUE that the scar supposed to scatter all over creating an invisible spot. Jae Pak is the best hair transplant doctor in LA. His work is superior. I got a hair transplant a year ago with him and it was a great experience. Many doctors in LA wanted to charge me just to speak with them to consult about getting the transplant. That was a major red flag. Be careful with LA doctors a lot of them are crooked only see dollar signs. Dr Pak and his team were very friendly with good prices as well. This office does not have hidden fees like many other doctors in LA. The after care they were easy to get in touch with at all times if I ever had a question. I was walking around town and felt fine the next day after surgery with no pain so did not need to take any pharmaceutical grade pain stuff either. His office is really clean and all the staff have good energy. I felt very comforted through the entire process. I don't like going to Doctors but I can say his office I enjoyed. I have had two hair transfer surgeries with Dr. Pak. The first surgery made improvements but a number of areas with insufficient coverage remained. When I was considering a second surgery I wanted to be sure that these areas could be addressed so I sent Dr. Pak photos on which I circled these areas. Dr. Pak assured me that all my goals could be achieved and recommended the number of follicles he thought would be needed. When he finished the surgery however Dr. Pak told me that all of the follicles he had recommended were not necessary to address those areas. After I waited for more than a year to see the final results there was little or no difference in several of the areas. I sent photos of these areas to Dr. Pak along with the photos I originally marked for comparison. In a follow-up call I thought Dr. Pak would acknowledge the clearly insufficient results in those areas. Instead he changed the subject and asked me what I thought of the results of the middle part. He told me that this was the area he focused on. After I spent approximately $20,000 for the first two surgeries Dr. Pak proposed to do a third surgery to add more hair to the areas that were largely unaddressed for another $4,800. In sum, I am very dissatisfied with the results of the second surgery and with Dr. Pak. I did everything possible to make my goals clear and was given assurance that they could be achieved. In addition to the additional $4,800 cost it was very disturbing that I would need to go through a third surgery and all the related practical difficulties and another long-term period of healing when those areas should already have been addressed if all the follicles Dr. Pak recommended had been used. I decided not to have the third surgery and will likely just have to resign myself to having thin or no hair in those areas. read more

I never leave reviews. But Dr. Pak deserves one. I met with 4 different doctors and settled on Dr. Pak. Ironically, he actually turned me away at first despite being ready to move forward with a hair transplant. He spotted that I may have a scalp condition called LPP, which is a type of scarring psoriasis which would like mean the transplant wouldn't work as well. At his suggestion, I saw a Dermatologist who confirmed Dr. Pak's suspicion. Dr. Pak did offer a small transplant as a way to test the results. I had a corrective/2nd FUE procedure with Dr Pak in early March of 2022 (first one was at a different surgeon). He's a very nice guy. Unfortunately the surgery did not yield any improvement. I wanted to fill in gaps in my front temple areas. He estimated I'd need 500-700 follicles but "wouldn't know til does surgery and would bill accordingly." Fine. This graft estimate was in line with 4 other Dr's quotes I had received. When I woke from surgery, he used 1,200 follicles, many more than he or other doctors had initially suggested.. and used up a TON of my donor area, making it look like a moth ate the back of my head, unnecessary for the small area I wanted follicles added to. Instead, he wasted follicles by adding them to the front center of my head where there already was thick hair! I questioned this immediately after surgery. I felt taken advantage of, but he said he had to make it look even. (Spoiler alert - it's NOT even.) The surgery itself was a good experience. Friendly staff with minimal pain (maybe because hardly any grafts took?) Initially 3 days after surgery- I emailed the office, concerned over scabbing and looking like large spaces between follicles (see picture- this was far different from my first FUE surgery where the follicles fell out after a couple of weeks- mine were gone in a few days and I followed ALL post op instructions). I was told no cause for concern. The next few months I saw no growth whatsoever. Every time I called or emailed was told to "wait" even though when I had my first FUE surgery, I had a decent amount of growth at 4-5 months and had NONE with Dr Pak. I asked a few times for an appointment at 4.5 months as I was getting concerned. This day in the office was a 2 minute appt with Dr Pak where he seemed annoyed that I was there. He told me I may not see any growth til many months later- completely contradicting what I've read online (and even his OWN comments on hair transplant forums online!) Fast forward to 6 months- I still had very minimal to no growth. I was told that he was going to place the new hairs to angle down to look more natural since my previous transplant at another Dr were implanted in the wrong direction. However, it appeared his transplanted hairs are also going in the wrong direction. Also, one side of my hairline had not grown in at all. At the 6 month appt - visited mid September, Dr. Pak "agreed one side doesn't look good" but nothing can be done just wait. Referred me to another doctor to go get PRP even though he told me on my initial visit that PRP Doesn't work. And if I'm having bad growth I should see a different doctor. Even though in all the forums he comments in, he always advises people to "check back with their surgeon" when they have concerns. Ironically when it comes to his own patients concerns, he refers them elsewhere. Ultimately, It's now been exactly 8 months since I had my procedure in early March. I've had minimal growth and a widows peak hairline formation (which I was very clear I did not want) because he put the same amount of new hair in the front middle as the sides near it.. but there was already a lot of hair in the middle so it's thicker and much more noticeable now than the temple areas. My hairs all point straight up and when I let my hair grow out, I look like a devil with the right side and left side both pointing inward. It's super embarrassing and I either need to wear a hat or a lot of gel to try and make it look somewhat normal. If the purpose of using more hairs during the surgery was to have more uniformity/ blend with existing hair, then why aren't they pointing in the proper/ same direction? If Dr Pak knew the transplanted hairs were going to be in the wrong direction as well, he could've just filled in the gaps I wanted and my surgery would've been much less expensive and still match what I already had. Overall I'm very disappointed with minimal growth, wasted follicles, the angle of implanted hairs and the end result is not what I hoped for. I trusted him for my second surgery hoping to fix a bad previous one but unfortunately it isn't what I've gotten. It just made an initial bad FUE procedure even worse. Please see before and after pictures where my hair looks exactly the same. I feel like I was taken advantage of. I asked what could be done to fix it and rather than an offer to fix the problems, I was sold another procedure or a slightly discounted hair tattoo. I don't want and shouldn't need to have either. I wanted to share my 5 star experience with Dr Pak and his team. I had been very self-conscious over the past few years as I was dealing with female hair loss due to alopecia, genetics, stress and just overall thinning. I had tried vitamins and topical agents and those only go so far. I finally decided it was time to have a consultation regarding hair restoration. I did some research online as I wanted to find an excellent doctor. I came across a Dr. Pak on RealSelf and I'm so happy that I did! He is beyond talented. On the day of the procedure I arrived early at 6:30 AM and Emma one of the fantastic techs was there to greet me promptly. They got me in and settled right away very comfortably. Dr. Pak has magic hands as I didn't even feel him making the incision. I asked "did you make the incision yet?"And he said oh "yes we're way past that That part" It was truly incredible I had zero pain and was completely relaxed and comfortable the entire time. Once everything was completed they ordered me a lovely lunch and even served warm chocolate chip cookies. Like flying in first class! I truly couldn't have asked for a better experience that day. Post procedure I had little to no pain. I was also very happy that they offered the service to be able to come in the clinic each day and have my hair shampooed as it must be done in a very specific way after the procedure for up to 14 days. Emma was fantastic at teaching me how to wash it so that I can do it on my own now and not feel worried that all hurt any of the graphs or where the incision is. I had a FUT procedure by Dr. Pak in February 2022. I had 2148 grafts. Overall, it was a very positive experience for me. The results were what I was hoping, and I feel I look much better than I did before the surgery. It is also natural where most people do not even notice I had a hair transplant or at least people are not coming up and asking me! That is what I want. The service and support leading up to and day of was very nice. Everyone is very professional. I felt at ease as it is a little scary to do something like this. They take good care of you. Even after the surgery, the office is very responsive. I have no complaints. Before choosing Dr. Pak, I reached out to two other doctors while doing my research. One never even met with me since he had me text his assistant a few pictures of my hair. I received a reply that I would not be a good candidate. That was a bit discouraging. The other doctor I met for a consultation and the meeting was great. His estimate was way more expensive, and I did not feel it was warranted. When I met Dr. Pak, I felt comfortable and not pressured. It felt right, so I booked the procedure shortly after and I am happy with my decision. I highly recommend meeting with Dr. Pak to discuss your options. Maybe you decide to go elsewhere, but I feel he is a reputable hair transplant doctor to at least get his professional opinion. Yes, this is an extremely long review but is truthful AND detailed as I want to make sure no one makes the same mistake I did. I went to Dr. Pak on December 17th, 2022 for my first FUT hair transplant. I had a consultation prior and we both decided on 1000 hair grafts, which at $6 dollars a hair= $6000. At the time, they were offering a 10%discount so I got the procedure for $5400. I should mention that I am a younger female and was mostly concerned about the top, very front middle part of my head where I part my hair. When I met Dr. Pak at the consultation he did seem like he had a good bedside manner and that I was in good hands... It wasn't til after he received his payment that I would learn that he was only concerned about money. From the start I knew I had made the wrong decision. I was given versed to sleep and I was NOT MARKED on where I wanted the hair to be transplanted to before he started the surgery. Even though there was a WHITE SURGERY MARKER sitting to the left of me, It was not used, and I was extremely upset when I woke up. I am an Aesthetic RN, there is absolutely a reason WHY you MARK a patient before surgery, it's to make sure that you and the patient are both on the same page and the patient is happy with the results. I knew it was going to be unhappy because I could tell that they didn't focus on the area I was concerned in the first place. SO I did make a fuss and Dr. Pak came into the room to calm me down. (YES, that's right he leaves the room as it's his hair "technician" that does the actual transplant, he only pokes the holes) Dr Pak reassured me that if i was unhappy with the results, there have been people that have come in for a couple of hairs here and there for no big deal. I SPECIFICALLY remember this because he said for certain "particular patients" (meaning picky patients) could come back for couple of extra grafts and it wouldn't be a big charge. I was immediately unhappy because it was not focused on the area I was concerned about, I knew that from the MOMENT I woke up. I am the first to admit I am PARTICULAR, but I DID just pay thousands of dollars for a surgery, so yes I expect it to be done well, THE FIRST TIME. BUT I trusted the DR. and thought that he knew best. I waited a whole 9 MONTHS before I EVEN MENTIONED my unhappiness again. I really gave him the benefit of the doubt. Why am I so unhappy? Because there is a distinct bald spot as big as a thumb pad right in the middle front of my forehead. This is the PRECISE SPOT I was concerned about in the first place. This precise spot looks as though it DID NOT receive ANY GRAFTS. It's very noticeable to me, and it bugs me so much. I know it may not be a big deal to some, but it is to me. ESPECIALLY since I paid thousands of dollars for it to be fixed, ESPECIALLY since that was THE PRECISE area I was concerned about. September 8th 2023, 9 months after my initial FUT transfer I had the consult with DR. PAK and he was the one that suggested a THUMB PAD size transfer. I was on board, I told him i'm thinking like 50hairs, he agreed, just enough to fit this area that REALLY BOTHERS me. He agreed and said that it could be 50 hairs, less than and hour, and I wouldn't even need the versed medication. I was on board with it all....BUT THEN COMES THE PAYMENT PART.... Because it was such a small surgery the doctor said it was no problem to fit me into a day where there was already another patient. I was game, I knew it would be less than an hour so it should be easy. His assitant comes back from chatting with him and says it's no problem and SHE THEN SAYS, "normally we don't CHARGE ANYTHING LESS than $3500, but for YOU we would ONLY CHARGE $1000." HA. SHE then proceeds to tell me that "I was getting a deal"... UM WHAT?! You think I'm paying YOU $1000 DOLLARS to FIX WHAT YOU DIDN'T DO CORRECTLY in the first place. She proceeds to say the, "MINIMUM they charge is $1000 DOLLARS...." She tries to explain that they were "NOT making a profit" and THAT $1000 dollars would ONLY BE to cover the doctor and his employee charge. REMEMBER this is for less than an hour of his time, while he's already at work for another patient. MEANWHILE, She JUST got done telling me they would fit me into a day there was already surgery and everyone was already there... BUT then proceeds to tell me that they would have to bring in staff and that would just cover cost. lol WHAT? GET YOUR STORY STRAIGHT. I was PISSED. I was shocked by the lack of Compassion, Empathy and the outright MONEY HUNGRY AUDACITY. ON Dr. Paks website It states $6/hair for FUT and $8/hair for FUE. I wanted to do FUE this time because I didn't want the horrible cut. So I was willing to PAY $8 X 50 HAIRS= $450. I was willing to pay $450 to fix THEIR mistake. BUT to say to a patient that they were "GIVING ME A DEAL" by charging $1000 was unbelievable. Honestly this could have been handled SO MUCH better, but the MONEY hungry office only cared about ONE THING. read more

Having been unable to grow a full beard for years, I was eager to consult with NHI, where I met Jae Pak, MD. He is affable and enthusiastic, and it's obvious how much he enjoys his craft. He has been in the biz for decades. The first feeling I got when I got to the NHI Wilshire Blvd office was that of being welcomed as one would do to a guest in your home. Nik at the front desk always takes the care to offer you coffee or water, and believe it or not, on the day I had the procedure the staff offered me homemade chocolate chip cookies they prepare on site! Where in the world does a medical office do that? The staff are Nik and Mach in the front office, and in the back are Emma (terrific lead nurse), Jackie, Midori, Junior and Tram. In contrast to another hair transplanting group I've been to, NHI provides you maximum contact with the physician and Dr. Pak offers his personal phone number in case you have any pressing questions. They do not try to shield Dr. Pak from his patients, and he takes ownership. The nursing staff are warm and caring. I met Dr. Pak for a consultation and was impressed by how much time he took to discuss possible hair procedures. Later that year I had my first FUT procedure for the scalp and forehead areas. Once you pay everything goes very fast as they do these all the time. In fact, I was surprised by how little time was taken to actually review what they were going to do. Dr. Pak makes the incision to remove a strip of donor hair, while the assistance begin the task of separating out the hair follicles, he staples the incision shut and begins pricking 2000+ holes in your scalp to accept the hair follicles which the assistance inserted. Days later after I was able to remove the bandages, I looked at the donor scar at the back of my head and was immediately concerned. On the left side the incision looked messy, jagged and the two sides were not properly lined up. On one side the scalp was much higher than the other creating a ridge and caused the hair to point in different directions. I recall during the procedure that this area kept bleeding so Dr. Pak added a few more staples. I emailed Dr. Pak and he said it should heal ok but if it's not good in 6 months he could do a scar revision. I was not happy and felt Dr. Pak did a sloppy job on the incision and closing. After about a year the scar on the left side did flatten out but I was also left with a wide hairless scar making it very visible and requiring me to keep my hair longer in the back. So, I started talking to Dr. Pak about the scar revision. The problem is most of the agony with the FUT procedure is healing from the very large incision. So, if I must suffer through another recovery period, I would rather just have another full FUT procedure that cut out the existing scar while moving additional hair follicles. So, I decided to have a second FUT procedure with them. Dr. Pak decided it was best if this was done by Dr. Rassman. He is a very nice older gentlemen that apparently started the business and taught Dr. Pak. Just like the first time I was not too happy with how little time he took to go over exactly what he was going to do. After the procedure I got in the car and noticed that my front hairline was crooked! The hairs were not put in symmetrically and now my hairline looked very bad. I was very stressed; the office was now closed and I contemplated pulling out some follicles to make it more even. I called Dr. Rassman's cell and he said I could come back tomorrow and they would fix it. I brought a photo of my forehead with a line drawn so they could see which hairs needed to be moved to make it symmetrical. The assisted fixed everything nicely but this kind of thing should not have happened in the first place! When I was able to remove the bandages covering the donor scar, I was appalled that the wide scar on the left side was not fixed but actually got worse! Instead of cutting out the old scar on the left side the second incision was made ABOVE IT! The entire reason I had the second procedure was to fix the old wide scar and now it was worse and the new scar was also longer on each end. When this finally healed a year later I'm left with a scar that splits on the left side like a fork and I have to keep my hair longer to cover it up. And then still you can tell something is not quite right. While I'm aware that every procedure has its risks all these issues were just sloppy work. Overall, I'm not happy with the work from Dr. Jae Pak or Dr. Rassman and I would suggest you go somewhere else. read more

It has been a little over three weeks since I had my procedure with Dr. Jae Pak. I thought I would write a review about my initial consultation as well as going through the procedure and the tremendous follow-up that I received from Dr. Pak and his excellent staff. I plan to follow up with a further review in nine months to 1 year after the results are apparent. I'm quite confident that I will be pleased but as anyone who understands the procedure, it takes some time for the new grafts to fill in with growth. My initial consultation with Dr. Pak was nothing short of amazing. We spoke for awhile about my lifestyle and what I was looking to achieve through the procedure. Dr. Pak asked me quite a few questions about my lifestyle and evaluated what would be the best procedure to perform for me. We discussed both the FUE and FUT procedures and following his recommendation, I chose the FUT procedure for the best outcome for myself. I had the same procedure a little over 10 years ago with a prominent Beverly Hills Dr. who has since passed away. His younger partner who does not perform this procedure, recommended Dr. Pak to me. And I am so grateful he did! The day of the procedure, I overslept by about 45 minutes and felt terrible about it but Dr. Pak and his team were unflappable. It was like nothing happened. They calmed me down quickly and the procedure went as planned. I slept for about 90% of it and we were done by approximately 2 pm. I went back to the hotel and slept fairly well. I showed up the next morning and got cleaned up by one of his wonderful assistants/techs. She showed me how to care for my scalp and the donor area for the next two weeks. To be frank, I was not 100% focused and needed to call back the next day to make sure I was cleaning and caring for the areas properly. That was absolutely no problem for the office. The same assistant who cared for me the morning before, got on the phone quite quickly and walked me through how to properly care for the donor and recipient area for the next two weeks. For the next two weeks , I continued to stay in touch with Dr. Pak by email. His availability to me was incredible. I believe every day that I sent an email, I received a reply typically within 30 minutes or so from Dr. Pak. I sent him pictures of my scalp on several occasions and he came back to me with how I was progressing and assured me that everything was normal. One day, I knocked the top of my head against a kitchen shelf. I was rattled but again one of his assistants got on the phone with me to assure me everything was going to be fine. I can't speak highly enough of how Dr. Pak handled my care as well as my initial consultation. In fact, when I showed up the morning of the procedure, the doctor referenced several things I'd mentioned in the consult that I didn't even remember we discussed! He is calm, courteous, caring, professional, and from the look of my scalp after the procedure, I would also say an artist! After the initial consult, I sat down with his office manager and went through the payment structure. That was equally professional and courteous. She followed up with additional availabilities and I chose to add one of them to my procedure. Both the office manager and Dr. Pak have remained in contact with me throughout my healing process. I had SMP done in February, it took a total of 3 sessions and one touch up session. Dr. Pak did an incredible job. Andrea in the office was an incredible person to speak with who guided me through the entire processes. The office was beautiful, very welcoming, and professional. Dr. Pak and his team are the best. Before my procedure, Dr. Pak took the time to explain the process and answer all of my questions. He addressed my goals and drew in the hair line so I could have an idea of where my grafts would be placed. The procedure went by quick and I didn't remember feeling any pain. I was able to listen to music and watch TV during the procedure. The staff were accommodating and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Dr. Pak has one of the best bedside manners I have ever seen from a Doctor. He actually takes time out of his busy schedule to not just listen, but hold an in-depth conversation with his patients. I had FUE done with him after the free consultation which seemed to not have any time constraints. He was straight forward and sincere about the expectations. During the procedure, I choose not to have any general anesthesia as I have a high pain tolerance. (Almost lost a finger as a kid and had to have it stitched back on without anesthetic, so not my first rodeo) I don't know if I'd recommend not getting a general anesthetic for anyone else though because the local lidocaine injections do pack a punch. If you have an AM appointment it's probably good to eat a light breakfast, nothing too heavy. For my procedure, the chair angle put my stomach slightly above the head which caused some acid reflux. Besides that, the procedure was relatively smooth. So smooth that I fell asleep in the chair a few times. I was in and out in under 6hrs. They even feed me lunch. Post-op was even better. There was no bleeding or pain, just swelling which is the be expected. read more

I've known of Dr. Pak about ten years and have been his patient for nine years. He was referred to me by another physician in the same office. When I first met him I was very impressed by his no-nonsense pragmatic attitude, honesty and compassionate mannerisms but also as important, no sales pressure. I dreamed of this type of treatment for years and was very excited. Just a few days before my first SMP treatment, I allowed dermatologist to perform what ended up as a faulty electrolysis just above my hairline, the dermatologist claimed I needed it to remove all the grey hair. The end result was a botched substantial mess of permanent scares. I was devastated. The day of the SMP and still devastated, Dr. Pak assured me it would not compromise my SMP treatment and he was right - it looked fantastic! It far exceeded my expectations and he custom designed my new hairline to my specifications perfectly for a distinguished one of a kind sharp look. I felt the scars overshadowed my new look and I was determined to correct them at all costs. Over the course of nine years of regular monthly treatments to include a variety of lasers, filers and micro needling treatments which helped, but also destroyed my SMP a couple times resulting in having to laser off my SMP these times and start over with new SPMs. The hard work finally paid off. A week ago I had a final SMP treatment and am thrilled beyond belief as this treatment left no trace of prior scaring and I look fantastic! I went to a place in Los Angeles and I also want to place on the East Coast, I found both places in a hurry to get me to sign and pay for my procedure and I didn't feel like they were taking care of my needs or addressing me personally. Dr Pak was the one to work on my fue hair transplant I feel fortunate to have him and this guys and put all my trust in them and they never failed me! Just got my 2nd FUT hair transplant done by Dr Jae Pak in LA and could not not be happier. Got my first one in India 5 years ago (was instantaneous, no research, nothing. It was super cheap and threw money at the problem). It was for lowering hairline and even though it was no great, it looked decent and very natural but the crown started thinning when I stopped Fin 1 mg and Minoxidil and stopped take caring of my hair altogether. Minoxidil and Fin really covered the crown when I did use it diligently) Researched a ton over the last 6 months, different docs, different countries. One doc in LA actually told me i would need 6000 grafts for FUE and they would do it in a shot and the total was $48,000. I literally laughed and respectfully said No. I then spoke to Dr Pak and I had the nicest conversation. One thing he made me realize is always think long term..always..my first FUT was 2300 grafts and he mentioned if we use the same scare you would yield less than 2250 and he was so right. I yielded 1850 only. He mentioned not to worry and that I have terrific donor area so we could always get an FUE done in the future. Few observations. 1. Andrea, who I first got in touch with was super nice and helpful. 2. Paul, who handled the finances is one of the nicest gentlemen Iv'e met. 3. Emma, who did my followup hair wash was witty, super sweet and answered all my questions. 4. Finally Dr Pak.
