I have been a loyal, consistent client at Brambila Salon for the past two years, but my experience this week was so deeply unprofessional. My stylist, Morgan texted me on Wednesday asking if I could move my Friday appointment earlier. I was happy to be accommodating and rearranged my own schedule with only two days' notice to help her out. However, when I arrived, I was astonished by the way I was greeted. I said hello to her when I entered the salon as she was coming out into the lobby thinking that she was going to greet me; however, I was met with an overtly cold, hostile reception. She coldly said hello, and barley looked at me, and she immediately took another client ahead of me without explanation or apology. When I finally sat in her chair, she wanted to put color on my hair without talking to me first. I always like to have a brief consult with her before she applies color just to make sure that we are on the same page in order not to have any misunderstandings. I asked if we could do a brief consultation. She became defensive and dismissive, and I felt rushed, ignored, and completely uncared for. When I honestly told her how I felt, she responded by saying, "It seems that you are unhappy coming to this salon, so you are welcome to go elsewhere." Following her explicit directive, I stood up and walked out. It is incredibly insulting to go out of your way to accommodate a stylist, only to be treated with personal hostility and told to take your business elsewhere. read more

Absolutely recommend! First off this boutique salon is perfectly located in Santa Monica & also beautifully overlooking the ocean. But the hairdresser, Maurice, is by far the best I've ever been to! In this weird wet/humid weather, I needed help treating frizz with my thin hair. Maurice customized my Brazilian blowout treatment that's lasted for months now and completely smoothed out my waves. I was so impressed with the results, I went back to see if I could do curtain bangs. Maurice was fantastic taking his time to make sure my hair could handle the shorter length and walked me through the whole process as well as how to style. I booked hair and makeup services for myself and bridesmaids and mother-in-law here. It was time-intensive to book. It took nearly 50 emails to arrange 1 bridal hair/makeup, 9 hair/makeup appointments for one day. We confirmed prices: $110 for down styles, $150 for up. Unfortunately the owner did not honor that pricing in the contract, and broke trust. The hair styles and makeup turned out just fine for the most part and the salon itself is very charming and they allowed us to bring food and drink; however, the bumpy ride to get there was time consuming and frustrating. _______ UPDATE I've moved my star rating from 1 to 3 because the owner got in touch with me to apologize and resolve the charge discrepancy.
