I can't recommend Alonzo enough. He's not the kind of trainer who just runs you through exercises - he actually watches how you move, catches mobility issues or bad patterns, and helps you fix them. That level of attention has made a huge difference for me. He's also great to work with: friendly, funny, and easygoing. We even go mountain biking together, which says a lot about the kind of connection he builds with his clients. The results speak for themselves. I've seen impressive strength gains along with real improvements in my cardio health and overall mobility. In class at ZZOFit and the instructor, Alonzo Campos was the most patient person with me. He instructed how to do the punches, how to move around the bag, he told jokes and made us laugh. He played really upbeat music and had a very positive demeanor. He really made the classroom fun and very safe. If you like to take a boxing class in the middle of the week to get you over your weekly hump then Wednesday night 6 PM boxing class should be on your schedule. I am in the medical field and have been having chronic upper and lower back pain for over 8 years. I have been to doctors, PTs in the local community, acupuncture, chiropractor, all of it-- NOBODY puts it together the way Alonzo does or has an innate understanding of how one's body works and what one needs to do to get it back in balance. After a mere three sessions I am feeling 50% less pain, more engagement and connectedness to my body (importantly he has an understanding of the mind body connection and how it plays a role in pain), more balance and re-invigoration. He's like a personal trainer, chiropractor, physical therapist all wrapped into one - with a kind and understanding manner merged with a drill sergeant's discipline. Alonzo is an amazing trainer who truly cares about you as a person and your overall health. I have always suffered from poor posture. Over the years, I've never been able to do anything to change it. Alonzo has fine tuned my workout to address my posture with every exercise and the difference has been very noticeable. He has also helped me work through multiple chronic sports injuries (that were likely caused by poor posture in the first place). Gotta give some love for my man Alonzo. First of all, the guy is super fit himself. He walks the walk and does the work himself which I always look out for. Dude is shrrrrreeeedded. I mean, who wants a chubby trainer? Second, he really makes sure you're doing the exercises right. The guy watches you like a hawk to make sure you're not going to kook it and hurt yourself. I told him what my goals were up front and he's always reminding me what those are and makes sure we stick to the program. He's super friendly and easy to get along with. The price is really good if you buy a package so I'd suggest that. The only con is he's in high demand so sometimes scheduling is an issue but he's super accommodating where he can be. Get yoked. I just wanted to say how much I loved this class. I took my acrylic nails off and the first thing I wanted to do was get into a boxing class... The class was paced so all levels can play and get a good workout in. The class meets you at the level you're at. I was nervous because I don't have a lot of experience with boxing but felt I could keep up. I was dripping in sweat and definitely sore a few days but in the best way! His knowledge of nutrition and fitness, his enthusiasm for helping clients, and his work ethic truly set him apart. When I first started going to Built gym in Studio City I didn't know what to really do to start getting back into shape. So I started doing multiple different weightlifting exercises and my form was pretty bad. Alonzo would take notice of that and he would helpfully chime in to help correct my form. Not too mention he offered some of the best advice anyone could give concerning getting back in shape. That the whole process is a marathon and not a sprint. I always see Alonzo being positive and helping out people even when it's not his clients. If you go to built I highly recommend taking his boxing/circuit training class. It's an hour long and Alonzo even gives each person individual tips and corrections on their boxing form. Plus, it's a great workout. Alonzo is a great guy and a great trainer and I highly recommend him to anyone of any age or shape. read more
