I signed up for a class with Iron Method and later received an email to arrive "at least 5-10 minutes early to prep for class and learn the ropes". Well, I arrived about ten minutes early and there was no one at the front desk to greet me early or to show me the ropes. I decided to wait in the lobby area until someone showed up but no staff member did. One of the class members eventually told me that I could grab an available bench and I did. It had been a while since I did strength training so it would have been nice to speak with someone prior to jumping into the class. First time here and had a great workout. Apparently we came on a special Tabata week, which is a type of HIIT. It was my first time trying this type of exercise, and I really enjoyed it. Upon arrival, the front desk girl, I think her name was Ellie, was very sweet and welcoming. Since it was my first time, she explained how to figure out which supplies would be needed for this class and where to get them. I think the instructor's name was Andrew. He did a great job of demonstrating all of the exercises along with modifications. I appreciated how orderly the class was. No funny business here, just a great workout! read more

Oh my goodness! Such a wonderful fitness gym right in the heart of my neighborhood. I was looking for a new weight lifting gym after Proficiency Fitness closed their doors recently. Weight training has been my preferred fitness routine since college (many many years ago) but I wasn't sure I was up to a group style fitness class at my age and with my injuries. I was absolutely wrong - as this place is so welcoming, helpful and effective. First of all - this facility is amazingly convenient to me - so close that I can practically fall out of bed and roll in. Parking is a breeze with free, safe and easy two hour parking. The facility itself is attractive and has an energizing vibe without being cloying. It is super clean and tidy. The owner Caroline takes pride in keeping it immaculate!! I also didn't feel out of place at my "age" - nor did I feel "looked down upon" because I needed to modify some of the exercises due to existing injuries. (Knees and back). I was also initially worried that I might not be able to "keep up" - but the instructors made me feel truly body positive and were amazingly helpful about modifications that I could make. I was also welcomed by participants at the facility - which was so nice. And - there were participants of ALL ages and body types. After years of trying multiple forms of exercise - dance, pilates, yoga, circuit training, even weight lifting at other classes, IRON METOD is the only place that has given me true results. I absolutely LOVE this place! No matter how I feel when I walk through the doors I leave feeling amazing. All the instructors are top-notch, the music is great, and the people are so welcoming and friendly. This is serious weight-lifting (no little pink dumbells!) so there's a bit of a learning curve, but that's part of the challenge and you get all the help you need with correct form to ensure you lift safely. I'm 58 and wasn't sure how I'd do with heavier weights, but I've gotten so much stronger since I started here almost a year ago, and that's all I need to stay motivated. I'm generally a person who likes to hop from gym to gym, so I've tried many. This place is something special. Its like personal training, but in a friendly and fun group setting. The classes are not exclusively women, but lean heavily that way- which I love. It's inspiring to me to look around and see so many strong, fit women of all shapes, sizes and ages lifting. I can feel my body changing from taking these classes, and I can't wait to see and feel the results after more classes. I'm fairly certain I've finally found the studio that is going to help me attain the health and body I want. Just for anyone new considering trying a class, I know the thought of weightlifting intimidated me originally (I'm a middle-aged diabetic who is working very hard to not give up the fight to stay fit). This class is a great place to start. It's beginner appropriate as you can work at your own level without feeling like you have a whole group of people running over you. If you have injuries or concerns, make sure to tell the instructor and they'll absolutely modify. That said, there are also people here who are amazingly strong and obviously experienced. read more
