First time here and had a great workout. Apparently we came on a special Tabata week, which is a type of HIIT. It was my first time trying this type of exercise, and I really enjoyed it. Upon arrival, the front desk girl, I think her name was Ellie, was very sweet and welcoming. Since it was my first time, she explained how to figure out which supplies would be needed for this class and where to get them. I think the instructor's name was Andrew. He did a great job of demonstrating all of the exercises along with modifications. I appreciated how orderly the class was. No funny business here, just a great workout! read more

Oh my goodness! Such a wonderful fitness gym right in the heart of my neighborhood. I was looking for a new weight lifting gym after Proficiency Fitness closed their doors recently. Weight training has been my preferred fitness routine since college (many many years ago) but I wasn't sure I was up to a group style fitness class at my age and with my injuries. I was absolutely wrong - as this place is so welcoming, helpful and effective. First of all - this facility is amazingly convenient to me - so close that I can practically fall out of bed and roll in. Parking is a breeze with free, safe and easy two hour parking. The facility itself is attractive and has an energizing vibe without being cloying. It is super clean and tidy. The owner Caroline takes pride in keeping it immaculate!! I also didn't feel out of place at my "age" - nor did I feel "looked down upon" because I needed to modify some of the exercises due to existing injuries. (Knees and back). I was also initially worried that I might not be able to "keep up" - but the instructors made me feel truly body positive and were amazingly helpful about modifications that I could make. I was also welcomed by participants at the facility - which was so nice. And - there were participants of ALL ages and body types. I have found my spot! After years of trying multiple forms of exercise - dance, pilates, yoga, circuit training, even weight lifting at other classes, IRON METOD is the only place that has given me true results. I've always known the value and importance of strength training, but have never found the right place to really dig in and commit. Working out alone at the gym is difficult because it's hard to stay motivated, try new exercises and equipment, and get proper form; and other strength training classes I've tried have been much too fast paced, repetitive, and impersonal. I am obsessed with the format of Iron Method - personal training, but in a group setting. The instructors are fun, inspiring, motivating, and really help correct your form. It's never intimidating to try a new exercise or use new equipment - all the instructors are so hands on and happy to help walk you through any challenges or questions. I absolutely LOVE this place! No matter how I feel when I walk through the doors I leave feeling amazing. All the instructors are top-notch, the music is great, and the people are so welcoming and friendly. This is serious weight-lifting (no little pink dumbells!) so there's a bit of a learning curve, but that's part of the challenge and you get all the help you need with correct form to ensure you lift safely. I'm 58 and wasn't sure how I'd do with heavier weights, but I've gotten so much stronger since I started here almost a year ago, and that's all I need to stay motivated. I am so happy that I found Iron Maiden! At first, I was intimidated by all the weights in the photos and even canceled my first class. They offer classes morning, early afternoon, and evening and they're great for all levels. Members are friendly and welcoming. The weight racks/free weight area at a big box gym can be intimidating but Iron Method takes out all the guess work. Each student gets their own bench, barbell, and assigned set of dumbbells and routines are taught by experienced trainers. Each move is taught prior to starting the routine. Trainers are hands-on and will make corrections along the way. Iron Method prioritizes form first to avoid injuries and modifications are given to those who need an alternative move. I'm generally a person who likes to hop from gym to gym, so I've tried many. This place is something special. Its like personal training, but in a friendly and fun group setting. The classes are not exclusively women, but lean heavily that way- which I love. It's inspiring to me to look around and see so many strong, fit women of all shapes, sizes and ages lifting. I can feel my body changing from taking these classes, and I can't wait to see and feel the results after more classes. I'm fairly certain I've finally found the studio that is going to help me attain the health and body I want. Just for anyone new considering trying a class, I know the thought of weightlifting intimidated me originally (I'm a middle-aged diabetic who is working very hard to not give up the fight to stay fit). This class is a great place to start. It's beginner appropriate as you can work at your own level without feeling like you have a whole group of people running over you. Iron Method has TRANSFORMED my body in ways I never imagined possible. As a runner, my body was thin, but not toned, weak in the core and I felt less confident in my clothes. I had avoided weight training my whole life when it was exactly what my physique needed. About a year ago I attended a trial class at IM with a girlfriend of mine (note: she has the most amazing body EVER!). She was a regular at IM and I wanted to see how she maintained her model-esque figure.
