Today was only my second day at Training Mate, and I'm already blown away by this place. I had Kyle today and he was amazing. So encouraging, motivating, and genuinely made the workout fun. The energy here is incredible. I'm officially hooked! read more

SUCH A FUN, yet CHALLENGING workout! The studio has a warm, lively, community feel. You won't feel the snobbish attitude you might get at other "premium/elite" workout studios/classes. This is circuit training -- expect something different every time. Coach Zac Garred is my new Aussie obsession. If you're lucky enough to make it to one of his classes, be prepared to LAUGH. read more

I love training mate!! They're doing an end of year special for $159.. you can do unlimited classes until the end of the year. First time going to this place .love it every one is flap nice .the .zac is the best thank you for all your help

My SO and I tried their Mighty Mate class with Austin and it was an action packed 45 mins. We went through three rounds of exercises along with some stretches and core work at the end. The atmosphere and energy were all really high and I felt very out of breath. It was easily one of the more challenging studios I have tried. Shout out to Austin for a great first class and for the encouragement! read more

The staff is so friendly, helpful, and encouraging! I love the workout format. It gives a good burn without getting repetitive or boring. It's great for people with a small attention span like me! The facility is super clean too. Love love love! read more

Training Mate is always a blast! I love all of the trainers, especially the Aussies ( I may be a bit biased because I am Aussie also) who are always high energy and motivating. The workouts are always intense, but luckily tend to fly by in the 45 minutes. I prefer coming for the early morning classes as the evening ones tend to be a little too crowded, but other than that, I definitely enjoy coming here for circuit traiining/HIIT read more

Best thing I did a year ago was to joined this AWESOME gym class!!! After pandemic it was a bit hard to get back in shape and build the commitment, but once I found TM my motivation went through the roof. It's a positive and dynamic atmosphere, it truly is for anyone. Its more then a gym is a community. I'm absolutely beyond satisfied, I am truly so thankful for TrainingMate! Give yourself a chance to look hot and sexy and give it a try! I invite you! Sumamente agradecido con mi TrainingMate! Absolutamente recomendado para cualquier persona. Hard, effective workout! I was sore the next day. Fun music. Great for people who don't know what to do at the gym.

Ok look; here's the thing... My friend texted a group of us the other day and asked "do you guys want to do a hiit class with me in studio city tomorrow" and I laughed and was like... hiit workouts are so hard for me (read between the lines ABSOLUTELY not) because I have asthma and it just tends to be exacerbated by anything resembling cardio. HOWEVER out of sheer Gemini driven curiosity, I yelped it. I would be lying if I didn't tell you, as soon as I laid my eyes on "Australian" I texted back and was like... ok fine count me in. All my friends know I'm obsessed with all things Aussie so I signed up faster then you can say "G'day" and let me tell you the moment I stepped foot into Training Mate I was in Heaven. Being called babe all session in the accent really just hit me right in the happiness As fate would have it that morning I woke up and the friend who had invited me had texted me at like 6 am telling me she'd been sick and wasn't going so she would pay for my cancellation fee but I decided since I was already awake and had made a commitment that I should go and it was the best decision I could have made. Ok so enough story telling let me give you the facts: I took the 9:30 am Friday class which was the thunder down under with Dan. Then the following Monday (the day I'm writing this) I went back for the 9:30 am Bondi Burn with Zac. Both classes were the 45 mins with an ab section at the end. I personally had no issues either day with parking (both times on Ventura blvd, metered 2hr parking, and block and side as the studio) though it's been a complaint in several of the reviews. I also drive a ton so parking tends to not stress me out so keep that in mind. Honestly I just think if you can give yourself enough time you'll be ok. It just might be hard if you're running late as I believe they do not allow late arrivals (could be wrong for that part tho) I took both classes using credits from the 2 week free trial of class pass. I think the first was 3 credits and the second either 7 or 9. The actual memberships to this studio I'll include in a photo BUT I will say this. It's not expensive but it IS and investment. What I mean by that is that for what you get, if you do the math per class and you'll actually go consistently, It's quite affordable (and on par with membership prices from a lot of different studios) BUT it's enough of a cost that it most likely will be a budget consideration for some. It's not a 30-50 dollar membership to an LA Fitness. I had a membership to a different gym for like 35 bucks a few years ago but I stopped going. 40 bucks was sucky to waste but I didn't tend to feel it too much, but this would definitely not be something you'd want to just throw out. That being said, I'm already starting the job of trying to figure out how I can make the M8 membership fit into my budget. I am NOT in shape in any way shape or form. I get winded easily, I can't do abs to save my life, and I have historically been an "I hate working out" person but I do NOT hate Training Mate. I immediately felt welcomed. On my first day Dan spent a good amount of time before walking me through how the stations went and what the circuits would look like. I met Zac that day as well and he remembered me days later when I came to his class. Both were super uplifting, friendly, and helpful, and I felt pushed but also seen if that makes sense. They stopped to help a few form issues at various times, and also went around (especially Zac) with some encouraging words for people, remembering names as they went. It has a very family feel, and as someone who always feels a bit out of place, it was a nice change especially in a gym environment where it would be easy to feel intimidated. After my second class I spoke at the front desk with I believe she said her name was Amy (hope that's correct) and she was also very helpful telling me about membership levels and such. It's also a nice touch that you can put your card on file so when you need to purchase something (water bottles if you're me and never remember one) it's super easy (though they're a bit pricey). There are towels for the machines and the people, two bathrooms I believe, and a little retail area in the front. What I loved about the actual workout was that it feels so doable. 45 seconds is a lot easier to manage so at each time if I was struggling I was able to see the clock running down in intervals that never felt too crazy, and if I needed to stop it didn't feel awkward because it wasn't for too long. Anyways, TL;DR-this was amazing. I'm planning on running my free trial of class pass down with one last class and then maybe doing some individual classes (or even the lower class pass membership) for a bit so I can try out the other classes I haven't done yet. Then if I continue to love it and it feels sustainable, and as soon as I can crunch some numbers I ABSOLUTELY plan on becoming a member. I'm obsessed. read more

Such a high energy and uplifting environment! The instructors are so welcoming and always make the workout a party. Marc is my go-to instructor. I wish I could give training mate more than 5 stars! Exercising is no fun but training mate makes it so exciting. They have 45 minute HIIT classes and time goes by SO fast! What to say about this place that hasn't already to been said - the moment you enter, you're engulfed in positivity... while also getting your a$$ kicked. I am a class pass member and have tried a fair amount of classes around the city, including other HIIT styled classes, and I always come back to this one. The instructors are amazing, across the board. The hype and attention to form are constant in the 6am classes all the way to the last one at 7pm (I have an irregular work schedule, but thanks to many classes times available throughout the day, I'll always find one that works). Whatever level/journey you are at with your fitness can be accommodated with a huge variety of different weights and machine adjustments as well. Cons: Zero. read more

I love Training Mate!! Every instructor pumps you up (I especially love Zac's energy & he cracks me up). In general, the energy from everyone is infectious! I also love that every day is a different type of day focusing on different muscle groups, so you always get something different! My friends and I love to come and is a great group HIIT workout! 'Ello Mate! An Australian HIIT based workout. Training Mate was great! The trainer Dan was fun and enthusiastic in an authentic way. I was nervous about how intense it would be but it really met me where I was at in my training. I found that you can really get out of the workout what you put in. There are 3 sets of 3 exercises and each set of 3 is done 3 times with 45 seconds on each station and 15 seconds rest (haha, loads of numbers). Towels are free, water machine to refill your bottle, parking in the alley is free if you can find it, street parking on Ventura is busy and metered, main downside is a lack of showers and open lockers (there are cubbies though), and the staff is abundantly friendly. This is my second class and I couldn't be happier! The Mighty Mate class with Zac is incredible! He is super motivating, encourage and uplifting! The class is very rewarding! Irene at the front desk is such a sweetheart and so accommodating! This place has such a positive atmosphere everyone there is very friendly! They really make you feel welcomed which is awesome! If I could give more than 5 stars I absolutely would!!! Looking forward to more classes in the future! read more

Love this place is a nice quick workout. The instructor was amazing and really motivating to me.

Was visiting my daughter and she talked me into going. I recently retired and while I do work out regularly, I was worried about being the elder in the group and being outside my comfort zone. I had so much fun and couldn't believe how quickly the session went. All staff were so friendly and welcoming. To all the other moms, do it! read more

I've been here twice now via Classpass, and after a friend recommended this studio and style of workout to me. Let's be clear, I'm trying to get fit. But I'm still a beginner when it comes to these things. I'm horrible at cardio and struggle at any kind of high-intensity workout. I am very out of my element at this studio, but I try. The first class I took was Bondi Burn (upper body) and it was decent. I liked the 3 stations, with 3 workouts in each station. I liked that format because it doesn't feel like it's forever. I also really liked the instructor Aiden. The second class I took was Mighty Mate (full body) and I struggled. I REALLY did not like that it wasn't by station, but by 10 workouts. You had to go through all 10 workouts in a row until you get one break! I did not like that format at all. I wish the classes had fewer students because since I am a beginner, I want the instructor to be very attentive to each and every student's form, especially since mine might be incorrect since I don't know what I'm doing. The classes are also always really packed. So, I ended up pulling my lat muscle in the Bondi Burn class, and then I pulled my quad muscle in the Mighty Mate class because I don't know how to do a reverse lunge. I really wish they had different classes based on your level or for beginners, with exercises that are a bit more intuitive or moves where you are less likely to hurt yourself with. Overall, the studio is great and the instructors are really upbeat and friendly. Parking is tough but I've found either metered street parking or free parking in some side neighborhoods. In the end, I'd come back again! And I'd recommend it for people who are good at high-intensity circuit workouts. read more

I have never been a workout class person. I was always intimidated but my wedding is next week so about 3 months ago I was like alright. I need to be pushed... so I found out about training mate on yelp and decided to give it a try. I started with the Sydney Circuit class and let me tell youuuuu I loved it. The format of the workout makes it go by SO FAST! So yes it's hiit but because it's broken up into 45 second increments it's so doable. And it's fun! Seeing the progress is so cool. The trainers are all upbeat and super motivating too. Lauren and Zac are my favs so far! Highly recommend and bring a friend to make the first class easier. Pretty sure your first one is free! read more

Training Mate is the BEST! I lost eighteen pounds in about six months and have kept it off for a year now. I'm really excited about my strength from lean muscle--as an ambitious home cook, I can hold and tightly grip with one hand a pan full of curry, bounce around the kitchen for hours on my feet, and carry a grocery store shopping trip that warrants a cart or at least a basket in my arms. I even did this year's Christmas tree in a very heavy base by myself! (Sticky mess, but, did it!) I was drawn to the workouts because I used to be really into step aerobics, which is sooo no longer "a thing," and I missed the fast pace, variety, and fun. I thought I would never find something that challenged, engaged, and excited me like that again. Nope, wrong! Training Mate! I like that the pricing keeps me accountable. I love the music playlists, sometimes I feel like I'm 16 again, or I race to my phone to Shazam a new song, or I rock out to what I've told probably too many people would be my "stripper song." And I like that I can adapt certain exercises for my weak knees, because outside of step, I was also a runner. I also appreciate getting different trainers, keeping the same schedule. To that end... I love it most of all because of the hilarious, warm, welcoming trainers, reception staff, and longtime members, you get such a sense of community. Give it a whirl! And say hi if you do! And yes, you can tell me step aerobics was never "a thing," I know! read more

Fantastic gym, great trainers, lots of fun. I have been going here for about a year. It's always a tough workout but you have fun doing it.

If you like a challenging, HIIT method class, this is the place for you. Perks: -Clean, new facility -Very friendly staff - front desk & trainers - Great workout! While I did feel pushed, the class is designed at a reasonable pace where you're only doing each exercise for a short amount of time to get a quicker burn. -The trainers also make the workout super fun Only 2 downsides are the fact that parking is only on Ventura which can be tricky & there aren't any showers. read more

Great Gym! I am always on my 6am training with Rachel and she is an incredible trainer. She is a great listener, very patient and really focused on your needs. We began building my foundation and have just been moving up since then. I feel myself getting physically stronger. I was afraid she will be one of those monster trainer that will push you till you die, but she was great , very gentle and effective. Her smile is contagious and her energy is fun and outgoing. All staff members are very friendly. Whatever your fitness levels is , I totally recommend Training mate. read more

This is a great studio! Only reason I knocked a star off is because parking is tough in this area. The classes focus on varying areas of the body each days, some are leg and butt day and some are abs and then there's my fave aka the mighty mate day aka full body. Workout is done in a rotation of stations which somehow makes it more bearable, with each station being something new, thinking spinning then kettlebells then rowing then burpees. Following that you do an ab portion on a mat. The teachers are all fun and motivating and Aussie too! Classes usually fly by bc they are so much fun. They have bathrooms and I think one shower. Parking is tough so give yourself time to find a spot Pros Clean Fun classes Great workout Great teachers Classes are always switched up so you don't get bored It's on classpass Cons Parking is tough read more

Before I started going to training mate, I was doing mostly low impact exercises like Pilates or yoga. So you have to understand how nervous and intimidated I was when my friend invited me to take a class with him. It's like I never picked up a weight in my damn life. For my first time, everyone at the studio made me feel so welcomed. I just LOVE the energy here and can't get enough. All the instructors are amazing and make class so fun. BUT my favorite has to be Rachael. She's such a sweetheart! It's been about 6 months since my first class and I've learned SO much. I've learned correct form and free weight exercises that I can practice during my own gym time. But on top of all that, I've noticed myself getting stronger and that's what keeps me coming back! This is seriously one of my favorite fitness studios in LA. It's a large class most times, but makes me feel like I'm part of a supportive community. If you're on the fence about coming here, just do it! Your first class is free anyways ;-) read more

I just love it! Love all the trainers, always friendly, enthusiastic, fun oh and all goodlooking :) The classes are never boring: 9 stations, 1min per station and 3 times each then 10min of abs - exercises are pretty much always a bit different. Super clean and spacious. Me loving!!! read more

You can't walk into this studio and not get a smile on your face. All of the instructors, and I've taken class with about 8 of them, are big on energy and corny jokes, which is a welcome distraction during a one minute plank hold. The equipment is well maintained and I feel like the class structure allows for people of all levels to really go at their own pace. I like to push myself, but there's never anyone in my ear telling me I have to. There's also a good sense of community in these classes which is lacking from a lot of other studios I've been to. I definitely could tell a change in my body from the beginning of my first month of membership to the end and even found myself missing working out on the days I didn't go. Parking isn't so bad, just park on the little alley road behind the studio and it's free (except Mondays when street cleaning happens). I've never had a bad class, but my favorite instructors are Luke, Zac, TJ and Rachael. Come prepared to give and receive a high five. read more

This place rocks! Dan S, Luke, Zack, Oscar, Dan O., TJ, Dempsey, Sean, Marc, Jade....the list of amazing trainers goes on and on for days. The vibe here is incredible. Imagine having a personal trainer for every day of the month for just $245 or $27 a class and wait...sometimes twice a day. This is the best concept for keeping in shape and enjoying a quick yet effective workout. There's no time to think just time to sweat, make gains, make THIS IS PAINFUL BUT IM LOVING IT faces at the person next to you and then get high fives from the trainers or other members when the workout or a tough round of a workout is over. The whole crew is energetic, helpful and motivating. They take the time to make sure you aren't just blowing it off and/or doing the workouts improperly. If you ask for help they will also come and give you some one on one assistance so you don't hurt yourself. If you are tight they also tell you how to stretch the problematic areas properly so you can keep reaching your goals. Join. read more

Been coming here for 4 months and I'm hooked. It doesn't have that obnoxious gym feel and all of the trainers are warm, knowledgable, provide a lot of energy and gregarious. The front desk is super helpful and the App makes it easy to book classes. I always leave this place wiped (but in a good way). Zac, TJ, Murph and Chris are all great trainers... you won't get a bad workout with any of them. The reason I knocked a star off is because they don't update their music ever. In the 4 months I've been going, all the trainers playlists remained the same with maybe one song swapped out. Destiny's Child, Brittany Spears and Lady Gaga songs have a place and time. Really wish they would play more current Hip-Hop / Pop / EDM songs. read more

I always leave feeling accomplished! They always switch it up and it's never boring! All trainers are great and motivating! I took my first class at the Studio City location on Saturday. I was expecting parking to be much easier than their weho location, but I was wrong! It's located on Ventura boulevard which is insanely busy, and there is no back lot. I had to park a few blocks away via meter and book it to class! I took Sydney Circuit with Adam, and I am still feeling it in my muscles. This was the most challenging Training Mate class I've ever taken, and I've done quite a few! The circuits were all extremely challenging, and I was drenched in sweat. Class was pretty packed, and the energy was great. Adam is an awesome instructor, and the music was upbeat and fun. I like that the West Hollywood studio does abs outside, and this location everyone crams in. It was a bit cramped, but still doable. If you're in the area and looking for a great circuit class, check them out. Each day has a different class structure, and I find that Sydney Circuit is the most challenging. They have towels and water and lockers. read more

LOOOOVE THIS PLACE!!! (Hence the caps lock.) Parking: found metered parking out front without a problem (Wednesday 630pm. May be more challenging at other times.) Amenities: large, open space. Lots of new, clean equipment. Two beautiful bathrooms, clean showers (free!!). Water dispenser so you can fill your bottle. Free use of clean towels. Mighty Mate class: Kayne, my instructor, called this the "second hardest class offered" and I believe it! My heart rate was up the whole time and I was dripping sweat from head to toe by the end. However, it's 3 sets of 9 1-min. circuits in which you can modify or take breaks (if you realllly need to, otherwise there are 15 sec breaks between circuits). It was a full body workout and I loved the balance between cardio-focused circuits and weights. We ended with some killer abs! Kayne: my instructor is seriously the best trainer on the planet. He is hilarious, knowledgeable, strong, supportive, helpful, entertaining, fun and encouraging. What more could you ask for?! I'd recommend his class! Everyone else in class (note: people of all ages, shapes and sizes!) was super nice as well! I heard (and received and gave) lots of encouraging remarks and high-fives. The atmosphere here is truly remarkable and makes working out fun, not dreadful. Can't wait to come back!!! read more
