I have complained about this gym using the busy street my blind wife and I use to walk, but they don't care. Bad enough on the weekend morning dodging these people but incredibly dangerous during night time rush hour. No valid reason they can't run down the side street they are located on. Or even better use the wide sidewalk on Lankershim. For your safety and the neighborhood's sake I ask you do not patronize this business until they respect their neighbors. read more

Becca Voight is beyond rude. I'd been doing CrossFit for about 3 years when I gave this box a try. Becca HUMILIATED me in front of the class by accusing me of not following the initial exercises because she did not explain clearly. Then proceeded to give me the special treatment for the rest of the class. I contemplated walking out of the class. Very unkind and a far cry from Brick in WeHo. Avoid this place. read more

I don't normally have time to drop in to CF gyms when I'm on vacation, but I was able to make it work this time. CF Training Yard was like a home away from home. The community was so welcoming, the space was super clean and it was easy to find. The coaching was top notch! An even better treat was having Becca Voight as the coach for the class!! She set the bar really high any time I want to visit another box. Lol Thank you so much for letting me drop in! read more

CrossFit Training Yard - Trainers Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Found a safe outdoor socially distance place to workout in the pandemic! CrossFit training yard is a great community of friendly folks committed to working hard, getting better, and working hard. I found this place a few months after moving into the area and love it. The coaches are very experienced and helpful and the owners and members make welcoming new members a priority. Before CrossFit training yard I primarily worked out at Equinox and Orange theory. With the pandemic closures I was struggling finding a consistent workout routine. CrossFit training yard has been the perfect place to train. They offer classes throughout the day and have an open gym option. The classes are challenging and their are options for all fitness levels. During open gym coaches are around to help with form and give guidance - which is very helpful. One thing that set this place apart from a corporate or boutique gyms is the emphasis on community. People say "hello"! They know name! And if your take class they always encourage you! The owner Becca is an amazing coach and emphasizes getting to know you. She's also a CrossFit legend. The coaches are experienced and give you individual attention in class. I definitely recommend this place! There's something for everyone, you'll learn a lot and get a stellar workout. read more

If you are reading this, then like me, you are reading about the different boxes to decide which one is right for you. Today was my first Wod there, and while I have been an athlete most of my life, it was my first official crossfit class. I chose this place because of the video on the the website. I am signing up because of the coaches and the other athletes there. I was, by far, the worst one in my group today, hands down. And you know what? All my fears of being shunned were for nothing. Everyone was welcoming and encouraging. Everyone finished with the last exercise, well, except for me, and you know what? They all kept cheering my name, wanting me to finish, possibly even more than I wanted it for myself. I hope that if you have hesitations about crossfit or this box, that you take the leap of faith. You will not be disappointed. If you come to the noon class, ill be the slow guy there, but ill be doing my best and if i am , in fact last, you'll hear them cheering for me to finish. If you are the last one to finish, then I will be right there with everyone cheering you on. The hype of crossfit and the camaraderie is legit, at least it is at Training Yard. read more

Ive been doing crossfit for about 3 years now. I've been a consistent member of 2 gyms, and have tried out many others. I decided to try Training Yard out after changing jobs and being geographically close to this gym. While I had some very good workouts, I found myself not wanting to return after a while. I thought on this and realized that it was because of an unsavory experience I had with another member of the gym. It had to do with a really rude RX Guy. He was walking around like he was the coach, the owner, and honestly like master of the universe. I stayed out of his way because I am not new to crossfit and understand that you meet some very big egos. Even with me trying to steer clear of this person, somehow he still managed to say very rudely and sternly to me "at this gym we stack the plates with the number side up." And then walked away. As I think back on this now I could laugh out loud because it was such an unnecessary interaction that was obviously territorial and overprotective. Never the less, it turned me off the the place. I should mention that gym etiquette is very important to me, as is being tidy and putting things away correctly. He zinged me even after I put the plate away stacked perfectly on top of the one below it! Can't stand environments like that, where you are walking on eggshells around the more athletic folks because they think they are of a higher class than you. read more

I highly recommend Training Yard if you are serious about getting healthier and in shape, regardless of your current fitness level. The coaches here are patient, understanding and work with everyone to get the most out of the workout. I really feel like they care about making you smarter about how you work out - not just tougher (though that, too). Becca is awesome and the members are all supportive, making it a fun place to be. My wife and I have been members here for over 6 months (we were new to CF) and couldn't be happier. You will work hard, but you'll have a good time and you will see results! Parking can be a little tricky, but street parking is available. Classes range in size but are almost always small enough that you can get any one-on-one guidance you need throughout the workout. read more

It's all about the coach ! As a coach, me myself choose the best most experienced coaches to learn from. Becca for me is a row model as a coach and as an athlete. I wish you lots of good luck with your amazing box and great community (: Roy read more

I have been doing crossfit for a little over 3 years (and training with Becca for those 3 years) and have found that the two most important things in a crossfit box are the coaching and the community. It is rare that a great athlete is also a great coach and/or businessperson. However, Becca is one of those rarities. She and Eric have built an amazing community in which everyone genuinely wants to see you do your best. Becca's top-notch programming, coaching style, and attention to detail and safe lifting provide an ideal environment for all athletes, from the beginners to the elite. Since CFTY has opened its doors, I've seen people who have had negative experiences doing crossfit or have never heard of crossfit check out CFTY and immediately o.d. on the koolaid. Becca and Eric also take great care in making sure that CFTY is constantly improving, whether it be by adding great coaches, adding new class times to accommodate its athletes, getting more equipment, getting special programming and guest coaches, celebrating its athletes' life accomplishments, or planning community events. Crossfit Training Yard is definitely a special gym that everyone should experience! read more

I decided to try Training Yard because 4 of my friends highly recommended this place. The workouts are awesome and well thought of. The facility is maintained and very clean, I always walked in to Becca vacuuming and cleaning everyday. It also had a great sense of community. Training at Crossfit Training Yard has been one of the most positive experiences I've ever had in crossfit and fitness. I've been crossfitting for over 2 years and I wouldn't entrust my training to any other facility. Not only do I continue to learn something every time I walk in the door, I take the lessons I've learned about training, coaching, and ideas of community to my roller derby league and have been able to affect positive change there as well. The coaches and the people who work out at CF Training Yard genuinely care about you and everyone wants you to achieve your goals. This is a community for all. If you take one class here, you'll want to sign up for a membership right away! read more

If you are looking for the best Crossfit experience you just found it. I joined Crossfit Training Yard a week ago and could not be happier with Rebecca Voigt and her wonderful team of trainers. Becca and her coaches take the time to work with you, give you one-on-one attention and guide you. As a newcomer to Crossfit, I was a little nervous. After my first day I knew I was in the right place. The coaches emphasize technique, not heavy weight, or your ego. She is a seven-time Crossfit Games competitor and the 2014 Spirit of the Games winner; I think that says it all. They have really built a community that welcomes you with open arms. Everyone introduces himself or herself, they give you tips, cheer you on and most of all call you out when you make a mistake (in the best way). If you want to up your game and really see a difference in your body, Crossfit Training Yard is the right choice. ATTENTION - CFTY is extremely addictive, be prepared to fall in love with Crossfit. read more

Started 4 months. Been going on and off. Becca the owner and the other coaches are incredibly skilled and incredibly kind. I couldn't have found a better place to go. There are people in class across all skill levels, and they do an amazing job in modifying and supporting each and every person. The culture at Training yard is one of excellence, support and kindness. Not that it is related but I have hard name, and Becca made it a point to learn it and say it correctly- that says something. Glad to be here. read more

Becca is not only an amazing coach but a truly caring individual as well. She really takes the time to get to know everyone, learn about you, push you and make you feel welcome. I have been to a variety of Crossfit's in Los Angeles and there is no comparison to the type of coaching you will receive at Crossfit Training Yard. Between Becca and her coaches they rank in the top level of athletes, have experience and push you to your limits, but also know when to dial it back. I wish I had joined sooner and I am grateful to of found this place! read more

The CrossFit yard is the best training program that I have been part of (no disrespect to other programs). Becca's motto for her students is simple: "I want you to be the best version of yourself." Even though the classes are set in a group environment, the trainers take time to understand your individual needs and where you are in your fitness journey. A simple example: I didn't know how to jump rope. And now at the age of 41, I can jump rope- all thanks to Becca and Ted. Simple things, yet you walk away doing and trying things that you thought you couldn't do before. All because of the patience/training of the coaches and the confidence they instill in you! The program and the environment makes you part of a community where everyone just wants to get better: fitter, healthier and have fun at the same time. The program is designed to workout all different sections of your body with special attention being paid to the mechanics so that you have the right basics and technique. You don't want to get hurt as you progress! And most of all as you go through your fitness journey, you will feel you are not alone, because Eric and Becca are there with you. I strongly recommend this program for all those looking to lead a healthier life style. read more

I've been a part of and worked out at many crossfire gyms over the last 4 years and this is by far one of the best! Becca is an excellent coach, the programming is amazing and it is one the cleanest gyms I've ever stepped a foot in. The people and the community that Becca and Eric have built is amazing! I'm a crossfit coach from the East Coast and dropped in at CF Training Yard today. The coaches and members were so welcoming and I felt like I was right at home. I've been lifting for 4 years and was in town for a wedding. I stopped by to train during open hours just to be told it was for members only - first time I've ever encountered that despite the website stating $20 drop-ins. Would encourage the website to be updated to note "drop-ins are not welcome during open gym". Super disappointed. Thereafter, called the gym on accident looking for another and they said I could train. Worked out, although the coaches could smile a little more... but it's okay. read more

I feel super lucky that this was the first crossfit gym I had ever been to. This is an amazing box. Becca is an incredible teacher/trainer/coach (and of course athlete!). The best of the best. I have been to most boxes in Los Angeles and you can't beat the value you get here for your money as well. If you are looking to avoid getting dumb injuries that can abound in Crossfit come here!! Emphasis in proper technique and form here AS WELL AS performance and Becca REALLY knows what is the right way to go about things. Community is awesome to boot! read more

I love this box, and it's really like no other! The coaches here are of top notch quality, the programming is challenging enough for people who have been doing this a long time but also accommodating to those who haven't, and the attention that Becca brings to skill and form is like no other box. I have been doing Crossfit on and off since 2009, and have been to many different crossfits along the way, and here, I have learned things that I never thought was possible for me to do. The level, skill and attention that Becca brings to her box are like no other. She not only has massive expertise and experience, but also knows how to translate that into coaching(which isn't easy), and push us in ways that a lot of us didn't think was possible. Becca creates a good, fun and positive environment, where anyone, new or old to crossfit, feels welcome. I started going to Training Yard two weeks after it opened. I go 5/6 days per week, in both the morning, night and weekend classes. There is no Hernando V. who attends Training Yard, so I'm not sure where they got their negative experience from. However, I wish they did attend, because if they actually did, they would learn that this place is really, really awesome. read more

I had the pleasure of working out at CrossFit Training Yard on June 2nd. I checked out the website and happened to be in town for a house showing and decided to show up and see if I can get in a class. I was greeted by the gym owners Becca Voight and Eric Miller. They allowed me to come in and take a class and gave me an awesome workouts. There were a few key things that I really liked about the facility that I think are imperative for a quality CrossFit gym. 1) a 15-minute warm-up that included mobility and proper active stretching. 2) they have a secondary gym where you can warm up and cool down and also use for personal use as a member. 3) extensive engaged coaching, I really appreciate it when the staff takes the time to hold you accountable during movements and looks out for the best interest of your body when doing workouts. The WOD was amazing, if I end up moving to the area this will be the gym I go to. read more

Great community. Great coaching. Great programming. A CrossFit gym in its truest form.

My husband and I have been Crossfitting for about 2 years regularly now, and we have been to several different boxes, both locally and while traveling. CFTY is hands down the best Crossfit box we have found. The coaching is second to none, the programming is excellent, and there is a sense of community which we have never experienced elsewhere. From the very first visit we were welcomed, the athletes introduced themselves to us, and they were warm and helpful. The facility is the cleanest and best-kept that we have experienced, by far. The athletes and coaches care about the quality of the work out as well as the equipment, and they keep it clean and organized. We are very glad that we live close by and that we are now regulars here at CFTY. We have both gained skills and hit many new PRs since starting here last August, and we attribute that to coaches who are not only great athletes, but are also great coaches, and who truly care about their athletes and celebrate their accomplishments. We cannot recommend this box highly enough. read more

I'm so grateful I found this place. I checked the Yelp reviews a few months ago and went on their website. After watching Becca's video, I knew I had to check them out. I sent an inquiry e-mail and received a quick response from Eric saying that I could go to the gym to meet Becca. She is one of the nicest, most down-to-earth people you'll ever meet. What struck me upon meeting her was that she did not make this a hard sell; she explained who made up her clientele, shared her story, and explained what membership would entail should I decide to join. A few weeks later, I completed an online waiver and showed up for my free trial week. Becca was with me my first night to gauge my skill level (which was zero) and to see how I could be coached. I decided after my trial week that I liked Cross fit and this location, so I signed up for a 3/week membership. I've attended classes taught by Becca, Finn, and Camry; they're all phenomenal and even modify the workouts for me and work with me one-on-one if my form is incorrect. I've also had a chance to work with Christine during the classes. You are literally a family in this gym. I've gotten to know some of the regulars who are some of the nicest and most supportive people you'll ever meet. As I wrote earlier, I'm so happy this place exists. read more

I absolutely love CrossFit Training Yard. Becca is an amazing athlete and an excellent coach. If you want to become a better athlete or simply want to become a healthier human, this is the place to do it. I've received cues here that corrected my form that no other CrossFit has ever pointed out to me, which is not only helpful but essential! I trust that whenever I come in for a WOD it's going to be a positive, motivating, and humbling experience. Becca is passionate about what she does and I am grateful she is sharing her skill/art with the Training Yard community! She stresses community and encourages us to know each other's names, which is great bc one of my favorite aspects of CF is the supportive community. She also is very proactive in ensuring that if anyone has an injury, that they take the proper precautions in protecting it/taking care of it properly. Come check it out! read more
