Bad enough on the weekend morning dodging these people but incredibly dangerous during night time rush hour. No valid reason they can't run down the side street they are located on. Or even better use the wide sidewalk on Lankershim. For your safety and the neighborhood's sake I ask you do not patronize this business until they respect their neighbors. read more

Becca Voight is beyond rude. I'd been doing CrossFit for about 3 years when I gave this box a try. Becca HUMILIATED me in front of the class by accusing me of not following the initial exercises because she did not explain clearly. I found this place a few months after moving into the area and love it. The coaches are very experienced and helpful and the owners and members make welcoming new members a priority. Before CrossFit training yard I primarily worked out at Equinox and Orange theory. With the pandemic closures I was struggling finding a consistent workout routine. CrossFit training yard has been the perfect place to train. They offer classes throughout the day and have an open gym option. If you are reading this, then like me, you are reading about the different boxes to decide which one is right for you. Today was my first Wod there, and while I have been an athlete most of my life, it was my first official crossfit class. I chose this place because of the video on the the website. I am signing up because of the coaches and the other athletes there. I was, by far, the worst one in my group today, hands down. And you know what? All my fears of being shunned were for nothing. Everyone was welcoming and encouraging. Everyone finished with the last exercise, well, except for me, and you know what? They all kept cheering my name, wanting me to finish, possibly even more than I wanted it for myself. I hope that if you have hesitations about crossfit or this box, that you take the leap of faith. You will not be disappointed. If you come to the noon class, ill be the slow guy there, but ill be doing my best and if i am , in fact last, you'll hear them cheering for me to finish. Ive been doing crossfit for about 3 years now. I've been a consistent member of 2 gyms, and have tried out many others. I decided to try Training Yard out after changing jobs and being geographically close to this gym. While I had some very good workouts, I found myself not wanting to return after a while. I thought on this and realized that it was because of an unsavory experience I had with another member of the gym. It had to do with a really rude RX Guy. He was walking around like he was the coach, the owner, and honestly like master of the universe. I stayed out of his way because I am not new to crossfit and understand that you meet some very big egos. Even with me trying to steer clear of this person, somehow he still managed to say very rudely and sternly to me "at this gym we stack the plates with the number side up." And then walked away. As I think back on this now I could laugh out loud because it was such an unnecessary interaction that was obviously territorial and overprotective. Never the less, it turned me off the the place. I should mention that gym etiquette is very important to me, as is being tidy and putting things away correctly. He zinged me even after I put the plate away stacked perfectly on top of the one below it! Can't stand environments like that, where you are walking on eggshells around the more athletic folks because they think they are of a higher class than you. read more

I highly recommend Training Yard if you are serious about getting healthier and in shape, regardless of your current fitness level. The coaches here are patient, understanding and work with everyone to get the most out of the workout. I really feel like they care about making you smarter about how you work out - not just tougher (though that, too). Becca is awesome and the members are all supportive, making it a fun place to be. My wife and I have been members here for over 6 months (we were new to CF) and couldn't be happier. You will work hard, but you'll have a good time and you will see results! The CrossFit yard is the best training program that I have been part of (no disrespect to other programs). Becca's motto for her students is simple: "I want you to be the best version of yourself." Even though the classes are set in a group environment, the trainers take time to understand your individual needs and where you are in your fitness journey. A simple example: I didn't know how to jump rope. And now at the age of 41, I can jump rope- all thanks to Becca and Ted. I've been lifting for 4 years and was in town for a wedding. I stopped by to train during open hours just to be told it was for members only - first time I've ever encountered that despite the website stating $20 drop-ins. Would encourage the website to be updated to note "drop-ins are not welcome during open gym". Super disappointed. I had the pleasure of working out at CrossFit Training Yard on June 2nd. I checked out the website and happened to be in town for a house showing and decided to show up and see if I can get in a class. I was greeted by the gym owners Becca Voight and Eric Miller. They allowed me to come in and take a class and gave me an awesome workouts. There were a few key things that I really liked about the facility that I think are imperative for a quality CrossFit gym. 1) a 15-minute warm-up that included mobility and proper active stretching. 2) they have a secondary gym where you can warm up and cool down and also use for personal use as a member. 3) extensive engaged coaching, I really appreciate it when the staff takes the time to hold you accountable during movements and looks out for the best interest of your body when doing workouts. The WOD was amazing, if I end up moving to the area this will be the gym I go to. read more

I love this box, and it's really like no other! The coaches here are of top notch quality, the programming is challenging enough for people who have been doing this a long time but also accommodating to those who haven't, and the attention that Becca brings to skill and form is like no other box. I have been doing Crossfit on and off since 2009, and have been to many different crossfits along the way, and here, I have learned things that I never thought was possible for me to do. The level, skill and attention that Becca brings to her box are like no other. She not only has massive expertise and experience, but also knows how to translate that into coaching(which isn't easy), and push us in ways that a lot of us didn't think was possible. Becca creates a good, fun and positive environment, where anyone, new or old to crossfit, feels welcome. I started going to Training Yard two weeks after it opened. I go 5/6 days per week, in both the morning, night and weekend classes. There is no Hernando V. who attends Training Yard, so I'm not sure where they got their negative experience from. My husband and I have been Crossfitting for about 2 years regularly now, and we have been to several different boxes, both locally and while traveling. CFTY is hands down the best Crossfit box we have found. The coaching is second to none, the programming is excellent, and there is a sense of community which we have never experienced elsewhere. From the very first visit we were welcomed, the athletes introduced themselves to us, and they were warm and helpful. The facility is the cleanest and best-kept that we have experienced, by far. The athletes and coaches care about the quality of the work out as well as the equipment, and they keep it clean and organized. We are very glad that we live close by and that we are now regulars here at CFTY. We have both gained skills and hit many new PRs since starting here last August, and we attribute that to coaches who are not only great athletes, but are also great coaches, and who truly care about their athletes and celebrate their accomplishments. I'm so grateful I found this place. I checked the Yelp reviews a few months ago and went on their website. After watching Becca's video, I knew I had to check them out. I sent an inquiry e-mail and received a quick response from Eric saying that I could go to the gym to meet Becca. She is one of the nicest, most down-to-earth people you'll ever meet. What struck me upon meeting her was that she did not make this a hard sell; she explained who made up her clientele, shared her story, and explained what membership would entail should I decide to join. A few weeks later, I completed an online waiver and showed up for my free trial week. Becca was with me my first night to gauge my skill level (which was zero) and to see how I could be coached. I decided after my trial week that I liked Cross fit and this location, so I signed up for a 3/week membership. I've attended classes taught by Becca, Finn, and Camry; they're all phenomenal and even modify the workouts for me and work with me one-on-one if my form is incorrect. I've also had a chance to work with Christine during the classes. You are literally a family in this gym.
