How in the world did anyone give this place five stars? i am guessing the owners or staff are writing reviews. Feel free to fact check me, The lights are low and curtains drawn. There is a reason, the place has not been vacuumed or cleaned in ever. Bartender was very nice and greeted me when I walked up. Beer was cold and life was good. Couple of regular types at the bar and Sinatra on the Juke box, unusual but cool. Talking to bartender then she rolls her eyes and lets out a deep sigh. I ask what's up as a man who has had a few enters the room from a glass door. She says 'Jim" and scampers somewhere in a rush. long story short, the music quickly becomes crazy loud and the regulars that were chatting are now silent and the man is attempting to tell a story but is lets just say he is not really able. Showed up here on my birthday alone and had a good conversation with Molly the bartender who is very friendly and inviting. She made my night. They have pizza and french fries and a menu, those are the two things that I've had they are pretty good. Drinks are reasonably priced, there are darts and the lighting is very acceptable for my taste. Honestly this place could use a very detailed dusting to remove the massive amounts of cobwebs but I get it. I would recommend this business if you are looking for a casual place to hang out with friends or just to stop by after work for a couple of drinks. There is karaoke Wednesday nights however the night I showed up was a rainy night and the karaoke guy canceled, that was disappointing but I understand. read more

I love this place! The food and drinks are good, and the Karaoke on Wednesday night is a blast! I highly recommend giving them a try.

I don't mean to offend any of the previous reviewers, but as I write this review, Zz Gator Cove has an overall rating of 4.5 stars here on Yelp. While I thought this place was cool, I'm not sure it's 5 star worthy. I was staying near the airport and a friend and I were looking to have a few drinks in a place with a fun atmosphere with younger patrons vs. some of the other places we'd stopped at. We checked the Yelp app, saw that ZZ Gator's had 4.5 stars and decided to head out here. This bar is a bit off the beaten path, and when we first pulled in, we didn't know if it was open or closed, as there were no cars at all in the front lot (turns out most patrons park around back in the gravel lot). We drove through the back lot, spotted a few people at the bar inside and decided to give this place a try. The bartender was friendly, as were the patrons (2 young ladies came over to chat with us and ended up buying each of us a shot), and the drink prices are decent ($21 incl. tax for 2 mixed drinks and 2 domestic bottles), but we never got to try the food. The patrons on this night were a mix of younger and older, and the vibe kind of reminded me of a VFW or American Legion in most cities where the people who come here are mostly regulars, mostly blue collar, most everyone knows everyone else, but they're welcoming to strangers and are happy to belly up to the bar, have a few beers, watch the game and play a few rounds of darts. We sat in the area that appeared to be an enclosed porch, with several window A/C units for summer and plenty of heat on the night we were here, when it dipped down into the 50s. One minor criticism is that the men's restroom on the night we were here wasn't the cleanest, and both the soap dispenser and the paper towel dispenser were broken (they did have a bottle of liquid soap and a roll of hand towels set out in their place). read more

Every time I get shipped to Kingwood, TX this place is always on the nightly agenda after a day of meetings. It is a dive bar but it's awesome. A great place for coworkers or friends to sit around- chat & unwind from the day. Oh and they sell a killer pizza! You may think the place looks dirty but I have yet to get stuck to a counter or table. They keep it clean and the bartenders are personable, engaging and sometimes overly entertaining. They have a smoking and nonsmoking side - you do not smell the smoke carry over. Lots of locals in the place each time I visit. I am sure there are other place more foo foo but I seem drawn to this place and away from the high life of hard chairs and high priced bar drinks. read more

It's almost shack like, with plasitc sheeting for windows and wobbly bar stools, but boy do they have some good pizza! Super cheesy, great crust and a tasty sauce! No beers on tap, just bottles but they do have some liqour and other regular bar food. This is a bar for the country boys, retired golf players and your old lady...I say that because I saw at least one of each during my visit! read more

Pizza = 5+stars. Definite hole in the wall but they seem to be doing some renovations to modernize the place a bit. Half of the place is a porch type room and the other half is inside. The place is super comfortable and the bathrooms where clean, stocked and nicely decorated. On to the pizza. I got the veggie pizza minus the cheese due to diet restrictions and it was oh so yummy! I usually get screwed with a couple of onions, canned mushrooms, and a bell pepper slice or two but this pizza was loaded with fresh delicious veggies including spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, green olives, and I skipped the bell pepper plus some lovely seasonings to bring it all together. Everyone else in my group enjoyed their different pizzas as well. The staff is super efficient, socialable, and pleasant. The prices are decent and I hope to enjoy some more of that pizza in the future! read more

I moved to Kingwood, TX this January, 2016. I spoke about wanting to check this place out for months since i drive by it everyday to work and/or school. We stopped there last night for a celebration shot for just the three of us to welcome a family member visiting us here in Texas. I am very upset about the service we received from the bartender. She was very snarky and rude to us. We could tell she was on edge but there were very few people in her bar and we were also being very polite trying to be nice to her. At one point she threw up her hand with the peace sign to us as she walked away saying "let me know when you figure out what you want." I was very upset as i headed home because she ruined all of our positive energy, and we love to support our local mom and pop places!! I hope they can hire someone who will be a better employee so people do not have to experience what we did. read more

I can't speak about the food because I didn't eat there, although I heard it was really good. My review is based upon overall experience and ambiance. It's a very low frills hole in the wall dive bar. If you live in the area, there aren't a ton of options when wanting to have a cheap drink. I'm not from the area, but I was in Kingwood after picking up a buddy from George Bush Airport. It served its purpose on short notice, but it was hickish. Lots of camouflage wearing folks. In all fairness, they were very nice people, just not city folks I'm use to encountering. read more

I drive by this place all the time and although a very sketchy looking dive, decided to try the Pizza to go. It is some of the best pizza in Kingwood. Out of the way, but worth it. Unfortunately the place was full of chain smokers and the smoke smell was overwhelming and offensive. I suggest getting your pizza to go as I cannot imagine actually eating in such a stinky place. Only one person to wait on customers and she seemed totally uninterested. Place has a lot of potential if well managed (which it doesn't seem to be). All that being said I still rate 4 stars because the pizza was so good. read more

Very boring place with lackluster food. We went on a Saturday night and there were only a handful of people inside with no type of music whatsoever. We ordered chicken wings and when they finally came out (we sat outside and were forgot about) they were soggy and undercooked. Pizza was really good....although the girl at the Bar thought I didn't noticed she added an extra dollar on a second glass of wine my wife ordered (was the same wine)....also I notice she acted kind of overwhelmed when she delivered the bill and when I approached her at the bar to pay....I am sure that if I had told her about the overcharge she will might apologize and say sorry I was very busy and made a mistake, but....I am not the kind of person that makes a big deal about a dollar, but I do believe in Karma....and that someone will read this review....Cheers!! read more

Zz's has excellent pizza and they do not skimp on the toppings! The Staff is usually pretty good and the drinks are good. It's mostly locals that come here and the crowd can get rowdy. Great place to have good food and a couple of drinks. They don't allow kids after 9 pm read more

Today was my 6th time in this place since the end of July. I'm in the Houston area for 4 months every year and work extremely long hours. Was having a pretty long two days and finally just got back into town and wanted some food and a beer...Gator's is what came to mind. It's a little, dive bar off the beaten path but I had been in before and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. NOT TONIGHT! Whispers throughout the bar were that the owner's son, "the manager," was sitting at the corner of the bar. My first thought was cool, so what? We ordered drinks (me & my two girlfriends) and asked for a menu. Few minutes later we ordered jalapeños, cheese fries, pizza slice, 10 wings & celery. Two full beers later, the cheese fries & jalapeños come out. Still waiting for the wings and pizza, we decide to put some of our money in the jukebox. "Mr. Manager" proclaims, if you play "ghetto shit " I'll skip it...if I don't like it I'll skip it. I said if my money went in YOUR jukebox and THAT "ghetto shit" is available for me to play, and I play it and you skip it I want my money back. He said no, not happening, YOU DON'T KNOW WHO I AM. YOU'RE NOT REAL CUSTOMERS. Last time I checked, my money is as real as it comes. My food came out, I asked the bartender to close the three of us out and we left. Hot wings that took 37 minutes to come out, left...smoking hot sitting on the counter. Full beers...left on the counter. I tipped the poor bartender $20 for our 4 beers and late, uneaten food and left. I ABSOLUTELY WILL NEVER GO BACK, AND NO ONE I KNOW WILL EVER STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE. I know what a good ol' dive bar is supposed to be & feel like and this is not it. I feel sorry for "Mr. Manager" he is a sad, pathetic little man. Live band. Hockey. Great people. Good food. There are some good golf courses nearby too. Good place to go.
