As a vendor in the event business, I highly recommend this space. The owners, the staff, and the grounds are absolutely awesome.

Returned again, hoping to award that 5th star this time, but sadly I cannot do so. They were…read morehosting a wedding reception, which completely filled their parking lot, but that was not the hiccup as the restaurant seemed unaffected, so kudos to Moontown for being able to handle an event on top of their normal Saturday dining crowd. The primary issue was our service. While she was friendly, decent windows of time seemed to pass between her visits. She also did not provide us with utensils/napkins, as my wife requested them from the bar after our meals arrived, nor plates for our shared appetizer items. The food was very good, for the most part, as we continue to enjoy their Baked White Bean Hummus ($14) and the Greek Goddess Salad ($17) is excellent. I also do like their Fries ($3.50), as they are seasoned well with a nice exterior crunch, although it seemed like we had been given the bottom of the basket as a good bit of our order was crumbs. Drinks were OK. My wife wishes they offered a dry cider option, but their A&E Fleeting Youth ($7) consistently tends to be the closest to that offering. While I realize it's summer, I prefer porters and stouts that are on the sweeter side as opposed to coffee-esque. But the only option was their Into the Void, which I thought leaned into a coffee flavor, so I chose their King of Troy ($6.50), which was a decent lager. So I continue at 4 stars, in hopes our next visit will have service with a bit more awareness, fries from the top of the basket, and some of their other beer options that hit the spot in the past.

Lots of carnival games were set up to open this afternoon. The Beehive cafe offers air conditioned, clean dining courtesy of the Boone County Extension Homemakers. I had a $5 Pork Tenderloin, which was a great deal. I also enjoyed watermelon and fried mushrooms, but used great restraint to not indulge in the locally made pies. The people are salt-of-the-earth friendly with a common love of agriculture. This year, there were more food trucks than in past years. I saw funnel cakes, corn dogs, blooming onions and much more. Lots of animals, exhibits and events are scheduled throughout the event. I don't know what "barrel racing" is, but it's happening tonight. Parking and admission are still FREE, so you can use all your money on food! Parking was easy in and out. This is a great small town fair with reasonable prices and lots of fun. The fair runs July 29-26.

What was amazing and appreciated is the fairground not only had the buildings air conditioned but also had connecting tunnels between buildings. So it felt like being in one big building. Each building had access to indoor restrooms that were very well maintained. Participants RVs had access to set ups directly next to the buildings so it wasnt a long hike to show ones dogs. Regular parking wasnt far away. Plus plenty of handicapped spots. Really liked this venue. Would come here again. I would attend this venue again.

It is near a shopping area, so if you forget anything their is an Ulta, Dicks, Drugstore, grocery store etc all within less than a mile. Also there is plenty of food choices. An asian steak/sucshi house, city BBQ, Chikafilet, wendys etc.... That makes for a great location. The hotel itself is well staffed and clean. The luggage valet trolleys were a little dirty. They have free breakfast in the AM, offer team and coffee 24/7, have free apples at the desk. Plus a large pantry of add on foods/items to charge to room. Nice. I left my toothbrush at the last hotel, no problem, tey comp'd me a new one. Room is spacious. Lots of storage. Luggage rack, fairly comfortable bed. Room not overcrowded with furniture. Thats a plus. Decorated on trend. Bathroom has glass door not flimsy curtain. Also nice. What deductd a star is they choose to use what looks like a matress pad for their comforter. It is so thin it barely keeps one warm. Plus they fail to disclose to make the air lower at night you must adjust the wall unit AND window unit. Odd. That shouldnt be a thing one needs to do. Seems inefficient. Other than that, was very happy to stay here. Staff was excellent.

You're not allowed to keep the rear barn doors open because it's "code", even though they weren't on the barn weeks prior. It's VERY hot with no reasonable solutions. Not one single person from the venue came out the day of the wedding when setting up to see if there was anything we needed. Even though the barn was supposed to have been blown out, cob webs swept out, and chairs wiped down. None of it was done. And lastly, they didn't have the yard mowed! Definitely no upkeep. After a fabulous day celebrating, we all had to bust ass to clean up the barn and load up all of our belongings. We weren't allowed to come back the next day to clean up. P.S. the portable restroom trailer smelt like sewage. I gagged when I went to use it thinking I was about to get sick. It was that bad.

Usually I am able to…read morefind a redeeming trait at establishments to avoid such a ranking, but the barn hadcertainly NOT earned it. I was anxious to see this venue, as many bridal exhibits this year had demonstrated images of a beautiful antique barn for brides and grooms to celebrate their marital bliss. When I first arrived, I do admit the site was lovely and I fell in love with the old pony in the paddock out front. My happiness however ended quickly from then on. The owners of this venue are very curt and dismissive, often leaving the bridal party and caterer to sort out their own problems. The two grooms whom I was assisting that evening, had multiple encounters with the venue hosts of an unpleasant nature. For all my caterers out there, DO NOT GO. This venue is by far the least catering friendly site I have ever been to. There is no kitchen or prep area to speak of and chefs are asked to set up an outside tent to make the meal (therebye allowing all manner of insects to access the food). There are no sinks or washing station, making dishes impossible to clean. Any sort of clearing is to be done outside, often times in the dark without any sort of lighting. To top things off, the hosts will insist at the end of the night the caterer take ALL garbage from the event with them, not just their own. Yelpers I do strongly urge you to seek other venues. These folks are just not part of the Yelp spirit!
