This is one of those reviews I've been meaning to do, but I've never gotten around to actually…read moredoing. In fact, I'd already uploaded my photo! I had the opportunity to visit Central Christian Church in Lebanon, Indiana during one of my Tenderness Tour events. In fact, the church played host to a concert raising funds for the Tenderness Tour and they were absolutely delightful hosts from beginning to end. Central Christian Church has worship on Sunday mornings at 9:30am and this is immediately followed by what they call Central Cafe. Central Christian Church is a member of Disciples of Christ, an Indianapolis-based denomination. The church has existed for approximately 175 years - this is an older, historic building and quite beautiful. It's also surprisingly accessible, though there are certainly places within the church that would be difficult to access. The church's pastor is Rev. Nathan Kibler. The acoustics in the sanctuary are quite wonderful. Being in a wheelchair, I was able to wheel around the sanctuary fairly well. I was able to speak from the floor quite easily. This congregation is a nice mix in terms of age. Attendance at our event was surprisingly solid for what was really mostly folk/acoustic music. When I was in seminary, I did a placement in a Disciples of Christ church and helped to plant a web-based Disciples of Christ church. This is the kind of church that I've wanted to revisit, though I don't get to Lebanon (my hometown!) as often as I should. Still, when I'm in Lebanon I would certainly return here as the entire congregation is warm and welcoming. Musically, there's an emphasis on hymns and the Disciples of Christ denomination leans somewhat progressive with some definite variation from church-to-church.

I liked the Pastor's communication and enjoyed his messages; more topical but challenging sermons and easy relating to daily life from week to week. This church has a library and lots of space to stop and chat, grab coffee. Music is more instrumental, very conducive to a worshipful setting. Highly recommended!

I was able to get a free coffee and head into the sanctuary where there was special seating in the back, which was so nice for me and my toddler to actually be able to listen to the word while he was coloring (they even had coloring sheets and crayons) -- really, really awesome Church, and not to mention the pastor that was speaking, gave such a sobering message about not having secret sin!! if you're looking for a church and you live in the area, I would definitely check it out. It's pretty big, but it also feels very personal. :)

Very energetic atmosphere for a non-denominational, evangelical church! Contemporary, spirit filled music and a very down to earth, practical message. My children really enjoyed this church. Nowhere near as big as Traders Point, but if you are looking for something not too small, but not huge, then this church is perfect.
