Five years later, I married Colin--a fellow iron warehouse weightlifter. Now we have a baby, and I'm trying to find time to get back to the gym. Even though we live in Castro Valley, we try to find time to go to Iron Warehouse because it's worth it for the community. Leo does an amazing job of uplifting people that want to get into shape--and stay in shape! Truly, he creates a community in this little garage gym. It's the kind of place where people wave hello to each other as they arrive. You get out what you put in. Get ready to sweat. :)

I was able to have a consultation with him to discuss my current abilities/limitations and my goals, and he designed a personalized program for me to achieve success. His credentials are on full display through his extensive knowledge on proper form, mechanics, and motion of the body. He is not intimidating, but will motivate you to give 110%. Also, his payment plans are reasonable and won't burn a hole in your wallet. Michael pushes me to be the best I can be and I have no doubt that with his support I will be able to exceed my goals. I am a big fan of the open layout here. I don't feel cramped at all and feel completely comfortable/confident with the space they provide. They also have an abundance of equipment/tools for you to not only accomplish your own fitness goals, but to explore new ones as well. There are plenty of amenities and programs they offer for your to explore; however, I have yet to experience them so my review is limited in that regard. Ultimately, this is is a wonderful facility to repeatedly lift heavy things and put them back down, and I recommend you come check it out.

To improve operations and eliminate this toxic environment, the company should completely restructure its business model to reduce overhead and human error. Transitioning to an online-only sign-up process, an automated entry gate, one competent manager, a single dedicated personal trainer, and a security guard would save the business money while completely removing hostile frontline workers from the member experience. I had no background in CrossFit or weightlifting and felt completely new to it all, but they explained the basics clearly, kept things motivating, and often stepped in to correct form so we built the right foundation. That gave me confidence and made the classes something I looked forward to instead of dreaded. Over time, I enjoyed Boot Camp so much that I moved into CrossFit. I'm still a beginner in CrossFit and probably will be for a while but my weight loss has accelerated since making the switch, and I've started feeling stronger, healthier, and more positive overall. So far, I've had classes with seven different coaches plus Brad, the owner, and every one of them has been dedicated, approachable, and engaged. Each coach has their own style, which makes it fun you pick up something new in every session. Brad himself is humble and very committed to building the kind of community that makes people want to keep coming back. The best part of this gym is the great community of coaches n people. It's full of people who push themselves, encourage each other, and make the hard work enjoyable. If you're looking for a place that challenges you but also supports you, CrossFit One World is it. Joining here has been one of the best decisions for my health and well-being.

I'm originally from San Diego and there are plenty of gyms around my area. However, my sister did mentioned she lived in an older more suburban neighborhood. Unfortunately, I wanted more of a challenging HIIT class that you can find at Barrys or F45 (both of which are an hour away from here). With that being said, they do have TRX bands and assault bikes as well as a variety of weights. They also offer beverages between $1-$5. They were also nice to let you use the assault bikes before and after class. I was expecting more of an energetic and motivated crowd but it was more of a mellow crew of retirees and a preteen boy. It was definitely not what I expected in a bootcamp/HIIT class. Nevertheless, it was a great class albeit I felt like the only gym rat there. Earlier in the class, there was some confusion (partially because the trainer was also teaching people online) but he was able to modify some of the routine so most of us understood what to do. I never expected wanting to do more after a workout but this is a great class if you want to be challenged but not physically exhausted. I also recommend a voice amplifier and more prompts (i.e lift your arms above your head, etc) for the trainer as there was some confusion (maybe due to the music, his low tone or lack of prompts). Will visit again if I'm in the area as it's relatively close to where my family lives. Parking: Plaza Parking Recommendation: They have a first timer special - 3 classes for $50 that includes personal training but I would check online or in person to make sure that it's accurate. They also offer open gym to those with classpass!

I have multiple injuries and body issues that make it hard to work out. I was always injuring myself the moment I tried to do weight training on my own. With Awesta I give him feedback on when something is challenging or exacerbating an issue--I'm learning good form to avoid injuries. He is always responsive and finds modifications so I can stay engaged the entire work out. I also find it more affordable than I expected. I don't do the group classes though they look great, it's a bit too advanced for me given my limitations. Being in there a few times a week, I watch the entire staff cultivate a warm, welcoming environment where you/they say hi to everyone who walks into the space. It's also very diverse. I'm talking both staff and members, culturally, age-wise, body types, genders--no one ever makes you feel you don't belong there.

She explains and demonstrates everything clearly, and she's always paying attention to form and positioning, making corrections when needed so I feel like I get the most out of each movement. Somehow she strikes the perfect balance between making you work hard and making the class feel smooth and enjoyable. By the end of every class, I always feel like I got the perfect workout. I also loved the plank challenge, it was tough but so motivating! Stone is truly a breath of fresh air, and I always look forward to her classes. I contacted the studio in late February to cancel/suspend my membership, yet the charges continued. When I followed up after noticing the continued billing, I sent multiple emails to both the local studio and corporate explaining that I had already attempted cancellation and was disputing the ongoing charges. The most frustrating part has been the lack of accountability and constant back-and-forth between the studio and corporate, with each side redirecting me elsewhere while billing continued month after month. Even if they claim they don't have a record of the original call, they absolutely had written notice for months that there was an active dispute regarding these charges. Despite repeated good-faith efforts on my part to resolve the issue professionally, it still has not been properly addressed. The classes themselves may be great, but customer service and membership cancellation handling have been extremely disappointing. I would strongly recommend getting EVERYTHING in writing immediately if you ever need to cancel or suspend your membership.

Everyone there is so warm and welcoming, and there is no judgement there at all. There are so much laughter and chatter, it's always such a warm and fun atmosphere. I know it's seems almost impossible to wake up at 5am and be at the gym by 6am for exercise, but once you get into the rhythm of starting your day early and sleeping early, it does wonders for your body and energy! The pricing is also very affordable, and bootcamp membership is offered in chunks of 3-months/6-months/a year. I'm only be in California for an undetermined amount of time, and after expressing my concerns, Mitch was very understanding and accommodating, so we were able to find something for me. Time flies really fast during bootcamp, but what I really appreciate is that there's no pressure to do beyond what you're capable of, you can go at your own pace and no one will judge you. Dianne and Mitch both demonstrate each exercise so it's easy to follow along, and they keep track of how many sets of each exercise we do. One of the biggest things they emphasize is correct posture, so you don't accidentally injure yourself during exercise. I've walked out of gym feeling all my muscles aching (in a good way!!) and I definitely am feeling so much healthier and less antsy I recommended my sister to come here as well and today was her first day of PT. It's her first time going to a gym for exercise, so having a PT to personally guide her was a good choice. She said it was a little bit of a challenge but she appreciated how attentive they were to the exercises she could do and the ones she struggled with. Needless to say, this was a great choice for us!! Thank you so much!
