Great gym with all the equipment you'll ever need for powerlifting, weightlifting, or just strength and fitness in general.

Been going for CrossFit for almost 1.5 years and love it here. Coaches are knowledgeable,…read moresupportive and passionate about helping you improve. Community is humble, passionate and about the right size (not too big feeling crowded or not too small). I have gradually improved in all dimensions - strength, cardio, flexibility, technique and mindset/mentality. 5 stars! Highly recommend. You have various options (CrossFit, bootcamp, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting etc) to chose from depending on interest and where you are at in your fitness journey.

I had no background in CrossFit or weightlifting and felt completely new to it all, but they explained the basics clearly, kept things motivating, and often stepped in to correct form so we built the right foundation. That gave me confidence and made the classes something I looked forward to instead of dreaded. Over time, I enjoyed Boot Camp so much that I moved into CrossFit. I'm still a beginner in CrossFit and probably will be for a while but my weight loss has accelerated since making the switch, and I've started feeling stronger, healthier, and more positive overall. So far, I've had classes with seven different coaches plus Brad, the owner, and every one of them has been dedicated, approachable, and engaged. Each coach has their own style, which makes it fun you pick up something new in every session. Brad himself is humble and very committed to building the kind of community that makes people want to keep coming back. The best part of this gym is the great community of coaches n people. It's full of people who push themselves, encourage each other, and make the hard work enjoyable. If you're looking for a place that challenges you but also supports you, CrossFit One World is it. Joining here has been one of the best decisions for my health and well-being.

Prof. Jeff Macalolooy's Dragons Den MMA has been part of my family for more than 20 years. Our…read morerelationship with DD began when my husband and I enrolled our two older kids in Kajukenbo classes. I had never seen such an aggressive martial art before, but I could immediately see how valuable it would be in helping my kids learn to defend themselves if necessary. Eventually, my husband joined the adult Kajukenbo, Muay Thai, and Jeet Kun Do classes as well. As the kids got older, they developed other sports and interests outside of Kaju. A few years later, though, we found ourselves back at DD--this time enrolling our youngest in Kaju while I attended Fusion Fitness and Lady Dragons classes. What I've always loved about DD is that it's more than just a martial arts school--it's truly a family, our ohana. Everyone is welcoming and supportive, and Jeff regularly organizes activities outside of class that help foster that sense of connection and community. Although I haven't been there in a few years, I still keep up with everything through IG, FB, and their newsletter. It's hard to ever fully walk away. :) So when I recently saw Jeff's post on social media about a weapons training course, I inquired about it. As a fairly recent gun owner, I knew it was time to properly learn how to handle and use my firearm. My husband, older daughter, and I enrolled in Kevin Pride's (Applied Civilian Tactics) course, offered in collaboration with Jeff and Dragons Den, where we learned firearm handling and weapon disarmament techniques. (I've known Kevin for years, too, having met him at DD when his sons trained there. Again, ohana.) It is a 6-hour course which I thought was going to be waaaay too long, but it went by at a nice clip. It included 3 hours in the classroom where Kevin discussed, in an engaging and often hilarious manner, "firearm history, laws, safety and proper handling." Jeff then led us through hand-to-hand combat and how to disarm an attacker. I appreciated this as a woman, as every woman should have a rudimentary idea of how to protect herself. We then spent three hours on the range. As someone who has never really handled a handgun before, it was intimidating to fire so many rounds but to also be around people who were more familiar with a gun than I was. To Kevin and Jeff's credit, they taught us in a manner that both beginners and more seasoned shooters could understand. As a novice, I needed extra support. Thankfully, having two instructors made all the difference: one (Kevin) could keep the main group moving at a steady pace, while the other (Jeff) could devote more time to reinforcing weak spots and helping a newbie like me work through any lingering hesitation. Jeff REALLY helped me in this area. There was a point where I felt like giving up (partly because I couldn't draw my gun fast enough with the new holster that I bought), so Jeff switched mine out and provided me with a holster that solved that problem. Indeed, any issue I might have had was addressed and resolved. I am now looking forward to the women's only training course they will offer in August, as I believe that will allow me to feel less intimidated and will continue to bolster my confidence in weapon disarms and firearm handling. Two thumbs up for Jeff, Kevin and their respective schools!

I put my training to the test today when I got locked in a room at work. With Coach Liza's voice in my head, I used the mechanics I learned here to literally break the door open--something ten other men on-site couldn't figure out. This training is the real deal and prepares you for anything. You are more powerful than you know!

Poor management: Do you read your reviews?…read moreYou have several reviews over a period of years from various members complaining about a rude front desk staff person. Apparently, management chooses not to manage that issue. You need some fresh teachers and new classes in the exercise room. Same old boring stuff. It's like a senior center in there, which would be fine as far as the seniors, but even seniors like to do NEW choreography. I've convinced many a friend to come check out their classes too - there's a good variety of weight-training, cardio, dancercize, yoga, and more. The membership is totally worth it, especially if you are a Union City resident.
