I thought it was just the shops in my local area that did this but it seems like the behaviors I…read moreexperienced are fairly universal- poor listening and delivering on customer requests. I called before arriving to ensure they performed the service I wanted- Gel-X with cat eye polish. The woman who answered the phone confirmed they did and scheduled my appointment. When I arrived the technician started right away questioning my choice- why did I want gel.x?? Didn't I mean I wanted acrylics?? No, not at all and I said so multiple times. He kept at it "the price is the same but it's a higher end acrylic I know that's what you want right!?!" Still no, after multiple nos, I finally told him I was allergic and had bad rashes in responding to the powder. I had good success with Gel.x and wanted them again. He wasn't satisfied! Like I was just parroting something I heard but there was no way I could know my own mind? "Gel x is like a press on nail you don't want that" - Yes actually I did. And again, this wasn't my first set ever, I knew the glue lasts for 2-4 weeks so I was really baffled why he was pushing this so hard- additionally with acrylics he was going to be quite literally gluing on a nail to mine to build from- and low on the nail bed despite my chronic thin nails and this placements prone to creating rips and painful breaks. The tech was insistent, a poor listener and the highlight of why I rarely go into these shops anymore- a full set with the wrong shape and 1 coat of see through color. It was a complete wash and waste of $100. It also seems I'm not the only one who doesn't enjoy or appreciate these encounters- every time I think it can be different and enter a shop it is a GHOST town. Stay away.

great place! husband and I went in for a walk-in pedicure and manicure. We were seeing very quickly…read moreand they did a great job. Their packages were very reasonable and I did not get charged for anything extra without being told that it was going to be five dollars more that's what I wanted to do. Was super friendly! Arrived without an appointment and only had to wait a few minutes. Had two other manicures in…read morethe RGV which were both bad. In fact, one left my nails very brittle. Lisa (lady from Boston) fully and accurately accessed the condition of my nails and recommended the type of manicure that I should have. She was quick and professional and I will definitely return to this shop. I will ask for Lisa and hopefully she is still there.

I came here hoping for something nude and simple, and just a quick mani/ pedi. The color I…read moreinitially picked which was a nude pink, but the stylist (who wasn't even the one doing my nails) said it wasn't pretty and insisted I use a different color... weird, but ok I trusted her word. The stylist started with the pedi, I had gotten the deluxe option, which includes all the works. However, there's a part in the whole process where you can choose which foot mask you want. I personally wanted to try the milk and honey, but the guy literally chose for me and went with green tea... again, weird, but I blew it off because it wasn't such a huge deal. It wasn't until I got to the mani that just sent me over on disappointment. Unfortunately, I've always had a bad habit of biting my cuticles. This obviously has left me with very sensitive cuticles. When the stylist was working on my nails, one of my fingers bled out, and rather than 1) apologizing and 2) being attentive to the fact that it was already irritated, he looked at me, ROLLED HIS EYES, dropped his equipment, and in the ugliest tone, sent me to wash off. Not only was I embarrassed, but in the moment I felt it was my fault when in all honesty, I did nothing wrong. I didn't move around or cause anything for it to happen. By the end of it, two and a half hours had passed. Worst of all, when I left the salon and was in broad daylight, I realized the color they gave me was NEON ORANGE. If you can go somewhere else to get work done, do so- but if this is your only option and you have all day, then suit yourself.

When visiting friends and family in McAllen, I've gotten a blow out or two from The Dry Room. Most…read morerecently, I forgot to pack my blow dryer, and attempted a "hail mary" phone call to see if they had any last minute openings on a Saturday, and miraculously, they did! Amanda hooked me up with some gorgeous waves. Y'all, my jaw dropped when she spun me around to check out my locks... not exaggerating. Great staff, and I was in and out faster than anticipated.

I was in a wedding this past weekend. The brides stylist recommended we go to The Dry Room for hair…read moreand makeup for the wedding. The bride booked the appointments. I know she had problems with this, she had called 2 weeks prior to confirm the appointments and they were not in the system, so she had to rebook, which did make her very nervous. But the day of.. everything worked out fine. I grew up in McAllen, now live in SA, and had been in California prior to that.. so coming back down to the valley for hair and makeup made me nervous as to what we may be getting. I was pleasantly surprised! The salon was really cute and quaint. We were offered water or mimosas when we first arrived. The mimosas were really good. The stylists were extremely nice. I showed a pic off Pinterest of the updo I wanted. Carina nailed it. I was so happy. I absolutely loved what she did, and she did it based off a picture!! I would definitely recommend her for updos for any purpose, formula, proms, weddings, you name it. Rebecca did makeup for 2 of us. She was so kind, energetic and very informative. I explained what I wanted, the color of my dress and expressed my love of GLITTER, not shimmer, glitter. And she too nailed it! I will definitely come back to The Dry Room for future makeup and up do needs next time I need something and I am in McAllen.
