It sat vacant for a few years and briefly reopened as a performing arts space in 2013 but was forced to shut down. After being declared a historic monument, it underwent a complete renovation by new owners in 2015. The building changed hands again in 2023 and functions as an event center and a shared common workspace. This three-story venue has rooms upstairs. Downstairs is the main room with lofty ceilings, large windows, wood floors, a kitchen, bathrooms, and a stage for a DJ or live bands. Downstairs is a speakeasy style bar and the backyard is also a nice spot for an outdoor reception. I've driven by this place numerous times thinking it was just a church. I recently saw that there was a Holiday Market Place being held here so I stopped in to do some shopping. There was a man on the front lawn making pupusas and people sitting at tables enjoying them. Inside is quite spacious and there were several vendors selling their merchandise. The tables were nicely spaced apart, so it was easy to browse. This realty is a nice spot for an event or to use as a shared workspace. *Street parking only.

CRATES. they barely had any garbage disposals for us to clean. main thing was the workers under the company look lazy and rude. if we didn't clean, they would keep the deposit. I don't think a reception of that size would be overlooked by the host and simply wasn't disclosed that significant detail. for the price of a different venue with all services for cleanup, seems like it's better to go somewhere else. plus, no parking and it's only street. interesting space but pass.

In May 2010, my fiance and I started to plan our wedding. We were tired of the typical "wedding…read morefactory" venues, so when we came across A Chair in the Garden, we were sold. It offered the beauty, flexibility, romance, and intimacy we were looking for. Plus, Susann (the owner) was one of the nicest people we'd met along the way and offered to officiate our wedding for free. We booked our date based on the garden's availability, put down the deposit and signed the contract. Fast forward a few months later and Susann called me. We played phone tag for a few days (she's not a very responsive emailer/caller). Finally we talked, and she told me for some reason or another that the county had intervened at her garden and said she could no longer have weddings there. I. Was. Heartbroken. She arranged for us to move the wedding around the corner to the Zane Grey Estate, so we quickly revised our contract, invitations, wedding website, etc. Only to have her cancel on us three months later (and only three months before the wedding). She gave another excuse from the County as to why we could no longer have our wedding there, and at this point we were just done with her "backup plans" and excuses. Not only had we spent hundreds of dollars printing our invitations, but we set the date based on her availability, and then she left us in the dust. Although she said she had spent our deposit money to re-do the landscaping at the estate, we were able to get our deposit back after a couple months. I was thankful for that much. Fortunately my father in law has a huge backyard and we threw together an amazing wedding there. In the end, it taught us that the wedding is more about my husband and I and the community that supports us, not the pretty venue for the perfect photos.
