I'm a huge Coraline fan, so when I found out this gallery was hosting a Coraline exhibit, I knew I had to check it out! My niece is a huge fan too, so I took her with me. We arrived right when they opened at noon, and admission was $15. The exhibit runs through June 17th. We practically had the whole gallery to ourselves, which made the experience even more enjoyable. There were so many amazing pieces of Coraline inspired artwork, and the entire gallery was decorated super cool. One of the rooms was designed similar to a scene from the movie, which was such a cool touch! Outside, they also had props and characters like Wybie and Mr. Bobinsky that made it for more picture perfect. We had such a wonderful time visiting this exhibit and would definitely recommend it to any Coraline fan! read more

Beautiful location in Pasadena and within walking distance of lots of vintage shops and places to eat. We were just wandering by when I noticed the SugarMynt Gallery. We were actually killing time (pun intended) looking for the Myers house and some filming locations from (my favorite) Halloween. I follow the SugarMynt on social media and see all the awesome events they hold but have never been. They had a really cool Coroline exhibit going on. I was able to pick up a few things for my daughter and Mom for their birthdays. They have some unique artwork and gifts and are reasonably priced. Staff was super nice. This place is amazing! It's a small house with about 5 rooms filled with Halloween/Michael Myers themed artwork, art prints, photographs, poster and books (even coloring books) for sale. It only costs $20 to go in, I thought it was totally worth it. We took a ton of pictures and had a great time. I hope to visit again during a movie night! read more

The bestie and I continued our wholesome touristy day by going to the Michael Myers house which I forgot was in Pasadena. What we didn't know when looking for the house that next door was this absolutely fantastic horror gallery that specialized in all things Halloween and Michael Myers. It was a perfect happy accident! We strolled inside and were greeted by a lovely worker behind a desk. She explained all about the gallery and let us know that for $15/person we could go behind the curtain and see more about the making and the history of the movie. So of course we did and it was totally worth the money. They had terrifyingly creepy mannequins of Michael along with masks and audio playing from the movie and of course the iconic movie score. There was also Hocus Pocus artwork and Halloween themed art from other artists. We went out back and saw where they had movies under the stars throughout the year. We took a lot of pictures doing ridiculous poses with the mannequins. We had to do it. We came back inside and chatted with the young woman working. Such a cool spot! I'm a huge coraline fan so naturally when they had a coraline exhibit I had to check it out for myself. My husband and I went opening night and it was such a unique experience. We absolutely enjoyed all the different styles from the artists and especially loved the cocktails provided by bar beauties! I absolutely LOVE SugarMynt Gallery. I've been coming here for a few years now and I absolutely love it! Tucked behind the iconic Myers House, this gallery has new shows and events that are always worth going to. The owner, Sara Rose is a sweetheart and so is her assistant, Rosie. I've collected so much art from here and all the different artists that are featured are so talented! On top of an art gallery, there's other special events such as backyard movie nights, Halloween 1978 walking tours, signings and more! I highly suggest this place to locals and visitors. South Pasadena is a lovely place to hangout and if you're into Halloween, Michael Myers, Laurie Strode and spooky stuff this is a great place to stop by. One final note, it's disheartening to see such fake and negative reviews. While everyone's experience may be different, there are people on here completely lying about what this place has to offer which is absolutely bizarre to me. I am a big supporter of art galleries in general. I like to create pages for them, add photos, review them to spread the word. Why such a low rating for SugarMynt Gallery? Because they charge admission!!! $20 ! Even for kids! I understand they charge for events, but to pay to see an art gallery? I never had to do that here in LA or other parts of the world. The gallery is on the small side and connected to the original house location of Michael Myers. And they take fully advantage of the world that Carpenter created in his horror masterpiece. They close at 5pm on a Sunday, pretty early! A lot of the artwork on display has more than a grey area of copyright issues. Debatable! Once again, paying to go inside to see art on display is a new one for me. At least if Carpenter would get a percentage of that I would be more at peace with it. SugarMynt Gallery was unexpected. A monstery goth oasis hidden in South Pas. I had no idea it existed and just happened to find parking in front. The tall skeleton and graveyard decor caught my attention and the sign said it was a gallery. I saw people going in and leaving so it seems people know about this place. I went in and saw some really cool artwork from various artists. I spoke with the owner and she was really nice. She was telling me that they have movie events in the back and to get on their mailing list to be in the know. The front room has art that's free to see and then there's a ticketed section to see the featured gallery exhibit in the back. The themes change, but it's always monstery. I'll be back!! read more

My friend wanted to check out a store nearby & lo & behold Google Maps told us that we were in walking distance of... the MICHAEL MYERS HOUSE? Excuse my French, but I'm a slut for all spooky things so I knew we had to go check it out. The original Michael Myers house is right next to the train tracks. Be sure to take a pic in front of it! Around the corner you'll find the gallery. $20/person. You can take as many pics as you want. Definitely worth it. Lots of neat decorations, artwork based on horror classics like "Halloween" & "Hocus Pocus", a room they're preparing for a spooky Air BnB , real props from the aforementioned movies, a small gift store area, & outside there's photo opportunities to enjoy! We came on a Thursday afternoon, so there was ABSOLUTELY NOBODY outside staff, a friend, and myself. Very safe & comfortable experience for sure. There are hidden things all around every corner, in each nook and cranny, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a spook here and there. My favorite parts for sure was the OG book from "Hocus Pocus" and the "orange lights" room. Staff was super friendly, knowledgeable, and very nice. They also do social distanced film showings in the backyard area. Make sure to check their social media since spaces run out fast. Definitely worth stopping by if you're a horror fan or need to be in a spooky mood. PS. Currently for October 2020 the hours are different than what is listed on Yelp and no appointment is needed. Awesome little horror museum. A bunch or art and memorabilia from the Halloween series and even a small section from Hocus Pocus. Multiple Michael Myers full Statues with the entire Jumpsuit and Masks which is so cool! Huge pull for a fan of the Halloween movies. I don't know where to begin about this amazing little diamond of a gallery. I've been visiting this gallery in the last year. It's located in South Pasadena off of Mission Rd, minutes away from several shops and cafes. The most important landmark is the Michael Myers house that sits adjacent to this gallery. The gallery itself is a house converted into an art gallery. The owner has several exhibitions throughout the year that are pop culture related, usually of the horror or fantasy genre. The gallery also hosts vendor pop ups such as Terror Market, Festival of Frights, Coven, and Knockturn Alley. There's also movie nights which can take place in the backyard or front yard. The best part of this gallery is the perpetual tribute to Michael Myers which can be found in one of the rooms of the gallery or the re-enactment of the laundry line scene outside. Sugarmynt is small, and very intimate . You won't get lost here , but you could easily lose yourself for an hour taking pictures and viewing the art from several local artists. The gallery owner, Sara Rose, shows her passion for horror and fantasy through her attention to detail and always puts on great exhibits and events. First off I was very disappointed, not with anything here. More disappointed that I didn't find out about this place sooner! I went to the Dexter exhibit and I really enjoyed it. I even bought an incredible piece of art. I went back to pick it up and was able to walk around while I waited. The exhibits are awesome without a doubt yet that's not the only thing to love about this place. The Lady that runs this place is incredibly warm, welcoming and very much a nerd in the horror culture. I will definitely keep going back and I will keep looking for that next piece to add to my collection. Really fun spot! Easy parking but also really easy to get to on the subway if you are inclined. It's a great place to spend an hour or to hang out a bit. Keep an eye on their website as they do a lot of fun screenings in their backyard and rotate their collection pretty frequently. The main collection has a few really cool things from the Halloween franchise, it's a smaller gallery but lots of love in every corner. If you are there for a special event they have independent artists selling fun stickers and horror apparel in their backyard. If you are even vaguely a fan of horror movies, film history or just love the macabre this gallery is a must-see. In addition to seeing the SugarMynt Gallery, afterwards try to explore the neighborhood a bit. It's a really hip part of town, there's a lot of fun restaurants, great Indian food, a video rental store with a bunch of rare movies, a Lucha Libre gift shop that screens movies on their roof every week. SugarMynt Gallery is a perfect place to go if you love anything to do with art, horror, halloween, movies, etc. It is right next to the Michael Myers house as well as cute stores and great food/coffee in South Pasadena. I rented the event space out for my 30th birthday and SaraRose was an amazing host. She was so helpful in making the event everything I wanted as well as being there helping out with anything I needed on the day. I definitely recommend paying a visit to SugarMynt and supporting the local artists they display as well going to a backyard movie night. If you need an event space it is also perfect for that and you can create your own movie night as well. I stayed in the Scare BnB as well and it was a great experience! I highly recommend having a little spooky getaway at SugarMynt! SaraRose and Michael Myers himself are very accommodating. read more

This place is a blast if you are a horror fan. I went for the John Carpenter art exhibit on the second to last day. It was only $10 to get in and I guess usually it's only $12. The owner and staff are friendly and cool. You can easily find street parking even on a weekday. The house used for Halloween is right next door. Sadly, it's an office building, so you can't go in. But they can point you to the address where it used to be on the other side of the street half a block down. Now there are condos. There was a load of fantastic art based on John Carpenter films. The prices on the originals were reasonable - like generally $200 for a painting. They also sold prints for $25-$45 of some of the works of art. There were some more expensive mixed media pieces in the $2500 range. Still, great to see and photograph it all. Then there is a room dedicated to Halloween and Hocus Pocus. They are adding a room dedicated to Tim Burton. There is a huge back yard where they do film screenings all through the month of horror films, and there is a 12 foot skeleton back there. You have a Michael Myers dummy out back, as well as an animatronic one in the Halloween room. And, they have a B'n'B room you can rent on a nightly basis all done up with horror and Halloween decor. It looked really nice. Everything was super clean. I had been meaning to go forever to see the Halloween house, but stupidly thought it was somewhere else and put it off forever. Now that I know where it is, I will be back for future exhibits. On opening night, if you sign up for their emails, you can go for the same price as admission and there will possibly be booze and treats for sale. Go have fun already! read more

Even though many of our favorite indoor activities are closed, it doesn't mean you have to be bored at home. We've been trying out a different outdoor activity nearly every day since the pandemic began. In fact, we've done so much, it's hard to keep track. Or maybe I'm just getting old? I did just celebrate my birthday after all. SugarMynt Gallery has long been on my list of places to check out. I guess it only took a pandemic for us to make the trip. The art gallery is located in the picturesque neighborhood of South Pasadena. You'd never guess that this idyllic section of Pasadena was the filming location for the 1978 horror classic, Halloween. In fact, the art gallery is located next door to the original Michael Myers house, and walking distance from many of the horror movie's shooting locations. Inside the gallery, you'll find spooky artwork along with behind-the-scenes photos from the first two Halloween movies as well as Hocus Pocus memorabilia and photography. Be sure to head towards the back of the gallery to check out the rare photos of Bette Midler being transformed into a witch in Hocus Pocus. Gallery owner Sararose Orlandini, along with her dad, will happily show you around and share their love of all things Halloween. Head towards the back of the gallery to see concept artwork from Hocus Pocus, signed by illustrator Giacomo Ghiazza (priced at a reasonable $25 per print). The big draw for us to visit the gallery, though, was the outdoor screening series. It feels super VIP -- limited to just 18 people a night during these pandemic times. We signed up to see Monster House, a fun, not-so-scary movie (since my husband hates horror films, though ironically loves Halloween movies). Every group is well spaced apart, and you're even allowed to bring in outside food and drinks (including alcohol). We recommend bringing a blanket along with a picnic dinner. Went to a movie night on October 2nd and had an amazing time. The gallery is behind the Michael Myers house and really embraces horror. I began following them on instagram this summer and wanted to go to one of their movie nights and am happy I wad able to! The movie night includes museum entry after the showing. The decor in the backyard was amazing and the stuff inside the museum was also amazing. Tons of cool art work and memorabilia from Halloween and other movies. For the movie, we were allowed to bring food, drinks and blankets/chairs. Every place to sit set to be socially distant from the next spot and you can either sit in chairs or on a blanket on the lawn. Vibe there was super chill and it was just an amazing night. (Also they were dog friendly too which is amazing! My dog got to enjoy his first viewing of Beetlejuice with the family) read more

This place is amazing. I came here with my dad to see the John Carpenter exhibit. We checked in, and we saw so much art and figures. The crazy thing is that some of the items within the gallery is actually for sale. The price for $20 to enter a whole new world of horror art is not a bad price, so I don't understand the people who give it a low rating because of the price. The John Carpenter exhibit contained art and figures relating to some of his famous movies like "The Thing", "Halloween", and more. There was even a statue of Micheal Myers outside of the place. It was cool. There was custom figures of entities from "The thing" which you could purchase. Otherwise, there isn't much to talk about. We saw an uncompleted room, which they were planning to open a new type of exhibit there, so looking forward to that next time we go back. Overall this place is great, and I recommend that you go and see the place. read more

I went back and fourth if I should leave a review like this, my first reaction was to directly message the business, but after seeing the businesses social media page post private message from past employees I felt this might be the best way to leave a review. I want to start off by saying that I do like the concept of Sugar Mynt, and I love that this place helps bring the horror community together. Especially a place where artist can showcase their work. My issue with this place is the costumer service. One experience I had was when they were giving tours. I had some questions about safety and how they were keeping their customers safe with covid happening. I remember their response went something like customers should use their common sense. I was a bit thrown off by that. Since I felt that living in a current pandemic my questions and concerns about safety were pretty valid. Ever since then i always had mix feelings if I should continue to support a place that had such a rude response to customers and past employees. My hope is that they continue to support artist, but learn how to provide customer service that brings a welcoming environment. read more

Not only that, the actual house they used to shoot the original movie is located next-door for even more photo opportunities. The gallery itself is on the smaller side, but it has some great things to look at and buy. They seem to always have pop-ups, movie screenings and more, so be sure to keep yourself updated with their calendar of events! We came across the Sugarmynt Gallery by Accident and so glad we did. We went to visit the original Myers House Next Door and saw there was an even going on next door. We attended and had so much fun! Sara and the girls are so sweet and helpful. We have been to every event or Exhibit since then. We have even made good friends just by visiting the Sugarmynt. I came here on a Saturday with a friend for the Terror Market popup. It was a hot day, maybe a little after 2:30. We parked down the street & made it around to the gallery, located next to the amazingly awesome Michael Myers house. Such a quaint little house, where the vendors were both inside & outside in the semi covered backyard where a small train runs past. There was an artist doing face painting for the younglings & other assorted spooky artists & small businesses (shoutout to Lively Ghosts) Upcoming events to come close to Halloween & Christmas! read more

They were kind of rude and snobby. Come on guys, this isn't the the Museum of Modern Art. It's a small time gallery full of fandom art. Humble yourselves. Went today and it was awesome. I did the $10 house tour and it was totally worth it. There's an awesome Michael Myers dedicated room, with a few statues sprawling throughout the house. There's some cool artifacts and lots of pictures from sets. You get to go to the backyard which was awesome and very spooky. All around a great experience; the front desk lady was super nice too!
