This is a great place to bring your dog for the most part. The staff truly care about the animals…read moreand are very communicative with owners about any issues. The owner seems like she honestly cares about the animals but she disregards many employee concerns. It is not an ideal place to work. Employees are often not communicated with until last minute about staying beyond their designated shift and they are asked to perform tasks well outside of their hired job description. For example, incubating and raising ducks and chickens inside the bathroom of the business. This also led to the heat lamp blowing from being left on all the time, and causing a small fire that was thankfully caught by another employee before it caused any damage to people, the dogs or the building. The ducks and chickens remained even after. The entire bathroom was virtually unusable as the ducks and chickens were allowed to roam around defecating on the floor.

When HLB opened in Troy it was a godsend for my two fur babies. Back in 2020, I owned 40.00 for pet…read morevisits. Then COVID happened, I got laid off after I had moved. I didn't find work for months. It was a terrible time. And I forgot about the debt because I was barely getting by. Now that I'm back on better ground, I paid my debt and requested a pet visits for my senior doxy. Paula declined and stated she informed a fellow pet service of my debt. It is her right to decline but purposely trying to sabotage me getting service from someone else is truly mean spirited.

I don't wish to delete my previous review because I really did have difficulty getting a response from the business, but the owner did eventually contact me. I think it was months later. She seemed very nice. She was very apologetic. She said she never noticed my phone messages or emails. The business was having technical difficulties and she assured me the problem was an aberration. I'm happy to see that the business has a better website and is doing well enough to expand to two locations. Sending my best wishes.

The most amazing experience I have ever had working with people, outside of family and friends,…read morecaring for my dog. My 7 year-old Maltese, Frederick spent this last year being walked twice a week by several of the staff at HOTH. I receieved gracious notes, he had the opportunity to meet other dogs in the neighborhood, and I was always treated in a caring, professional, and thoughtful manner. Fred also made two stays at the Bed and Biscuit, being cared for round the clock by HOTH staff. I have NEVER boarded my dog, so leaving him with someone outside of family and close friends was a choice I made very carefully. The cost for walks and overnight stays was reasonable and something I could afford living on the very small budget of a graduate student. I always felt wonderful knowing Fred was getting some love and attention during my long days at work. I can't recommend their services enough to coworkers and friends with animals. One of the only reasons I am sad to be leaving the Albany area for a new job in St. Kitts, is not getting to work with Hounds on the Hudson!

Brook, the manager, told me he had given her no problems other than when she went to wipe his paws before bringing him out to me. She offered me a rag and when I asked what it was for she replied it was for his "piss paws". I was shocked. Why was he standing/laying in his own urine/feces? Was he expected to eat in that same space? He also hadn't eaten the food I provided (his normal diet) so Brook took it upon herself to feed him "canned food" I don't know what kind. Again, I never received a phone call to authorize this. Brook knew he had skin allergies (he was there with both his anxiety and allergy meds-neither of which were dispensed to him) and random food can cause this to flare up. After getting him home and thoroughly brushed, bathed and fed, I contacted the facility and questioned his poor condition and was (for the first time) told my dog was uncooperative and attempted to bite... again, I was never told this until that point. If I had known there was an issue, I would have gladly okayed using a muzzle as needed. I am upset and concerned and will NEVER let my dog come back to this facility. He has boarded at other places and never has he ever come home in such a horrible state. On the contrary, he always comes home in pristine condition. I never write reviews but feel this is necessary and people should be aware. I'm sad because I like to support local businesses but this is one I cannot get behind.

They are so accommodating and helpful. I was running late to pick up my pet and there was no problem at all. Most places will just close down and tell you sorry, but the gentleman said that it was not a problem and that things happen. The atmosphere was very relaxed and felt very relaxed. I will definitely be back.
