My 7 year-old Maltese, Frederick spent this last year being walked twice a week by several of the staff at HOTH. I receieved gracious notes, he had the opportunity to meet other dogs in the neighborhood, and I was always treated in a caring, professional, and thoughtful manner. Fred also made two stays at the Bed and Biscuit, being cared for round the clock by HOTH staff. I have NEVER boarded my dog, so leaving him with someone outside of family and close friends was a choice I made very carefully. The cost for walks and overnight stays was reasonable and something I could afford living on the very small budget of a graduate student. I always felt wonderful knowing Fred was getting some love and attention during my long days at work. I can't recommend their services enough to coworkers and friends with animals. One of the only reasons I am sad to be leaving the Albany area for a new job in St. Kitts, is not getting to work with Hounds on the Hudson!

We got pictures and updates our whole trip, and when our pick up time had to be moved because we got stuck in traffic, it wasn't a big deal. The little boarding report card was adorable, and because our pup has nervous/excitement pees, Denise referred us to a trainer/dog psychologist that might be able to help. Our other dogs, boarded other places, have come home with cuts, ticks, smelling bad, or almost all the food we sent - this is the first time we haven't had anything to remedy once we got home. Our tenant was supposed to shovel for us, but his car broke down and he couldn't even make it home that night. We told Jessica about the situation and that our cats would be ok for a day. She said she would be fine, came by anyhow, climbed her way through over a foot of snow, and then brushed it off saying it was not a problem and we shouldn't worry about it. Now, that is dedication! We took three dogs to vanity fur yesterday for a day at the slopes. We'd seen some questionable…read morereviews and now I know why. One of the dogs (pictured) needed some grooming and a good bath and brush. My dog is an Australian labradoodle and has a certain type of long shaggy hair which needs to be maintained. When I picked him up I was close to tears. The owner was quite short with me as she explained that she wasn't able to brush out his mats, and I could take him to a groomer and get him shaved. Excuse me? I paid $70 plus daycare plus tip to receive my dog back with an amateur haircut (uneven, one ear shorter than the other and wayyy too short) and not even a decent brush. I spent an hour when we got home brushing him out, which worked. I'm just not sure what I paid for except a dog that looks ridiculous. Are these professional groomers? I would say no. I've trimmed my dogs face and paws a few times and he always looks cute and true to his breed. Now he looks utterly ridiculous and if you saw what they did for his sanitary trim around the back end. My god. Don't do it. 2 stars is generous btw
