Dan and Kathy trained my three German Shepherds. Within 5 minutes, my pups were no longer pulling and tugging on leash and enjoying long "Pack Leadership" walks. Following Dan's advice and developing a routine for my dogs, they now go outside. No leash. No fences. No expensive electric fences . Some good techniques, with consistent training truly helped us with our pups. Both Dan and Kathy came to our house for a few hours of training which was very helpful. However, their customer service is lacking. They offer a visit one month later to follow up, but never reach out to schedule, and ignore messages left to schedule. Again, some great techniques and advice (pick and choose what works best for you and your pup), but then you are left on your own after they insist they offer more. read more

Ignorant, unprofessional, downright abusive, and childish (watch the video of HIM eating his dogs' kibble before allowing her to go near it, to prove that he's the Alpha - astounding!). If I could, the stars would be zero or less. I was shamed, insulted, and told that I was too naive to own a dog. His attitude was so abrasive that it began to be clear that he was capable of physical violence. In reality, I don't think he likes or understands dogs other than his own, perhaps. Bluntly, I was told that he refused to work with me or my dog (he had never heard of the breed, although it is an ancient breed - Portuguese Podengo, not a new exotic). Being a trainer should mean having the awareness that one's job is to take on a difficult project and make it a success! If it was easy, anyone could do it. So, who is ignorant and naive? Dan is! But before even meeting me or my dog he put a label on both of us - idiotic owner and mean, evil dog and a breed that should be eradicated. Then he simply hung up on me. I wouldn't leave my dog alone with him for 2 seconds. And he uses pronged collars and pepper spray at the first encounter to let the dog know who is in charge. Wretched man! Dan is absolutely unbelievable. He has a complete understanding of dogs and how their mind works. We had a very hyper dog who counter surfed, stole food from our hands as we ate, led us on walks, and jumped up on everyone. Dan came and after one day of training, helping my husband and I understand our dog, Luke, we now have the most wonderful family pet. It's hard to believe that my kids used to jump from table to chairs since Luke would often go after them and try to bite them. Thanks, Dan, for everything. read more

Dan came to our home for our 9 month old Texas Heeler. Prior to his visit we discussed our concerns with our dog. We let him know that she was well behaved but that she was timid and not trusting of "strangers"around our family. Dan showed up at our house and within a few minutes had sprayed the dog with pepper spray solely because she was growling at him. Our dog immediately urinated and deficated all over the living room and sofa. He told us that this let him know that she was a Beta. This set the entire visit up to be a failure. We were confused as to why he would do this to a dog that he was told was timid and that was simply growling at him. So the session progresses and he continually talks about himself and how great he is. Barely pays attention to the dog and just wanted to teach us how to walk her on the leash with a pronged collar. At the end of the visit he tells us to call him at any time if we have issues. Four and a half months later we call him because we are continuing to see the same issues with our dog. He immediately starts yelling and swearing at my wife and berating her for what he perceives we are not doing. My wife called him out for his approach and language to which he States he just lost one of his dogs. We had already been told this and were not expecting his call back for a few days. I then call Dan and speak with him about how he spoke to my wife. I had to demand that he call my wife back to apologise before we would continue to work with him. He was reluctant to do so but finally agreed. Much more to this story but... Afterwards my wife and I decided that we would no longer work with Dan. If you value how your treated, find another trainer. Dan'sprice tag is high. His approach is extremely heavy handed and lacks results. He's also a loose cannon. His receptionist Kathy was the only positive. read more

Dan and Kathy have really made a difference with my dogs and I could not be more grateful. I have two young Pitt mixes, one of whom was incredibly anxious and destructive. Walks were a task due to excess pulling on the leashes and both of them were extremely reactive when other dogs walked by or even on the other side of the street. Dan and Kathy spent the time explaining not only how to correct the behavior but why my pups were acting the way they were. After just one session and following the guidelines that they set for us, my husband and I can't believe the change we have seen already! Walks are enjoyable, they are listening, and we have two calm, happy dogs that add nothing but pure joy to our lives. I cannot put into words how thankful we are that Dan was able to help us. We have three small dogs and two of them are well behaved. The third, our maltese was hyper, dog-agressive and occassionally people agressive. My husband and I were never able to walk the dogs without worrying about the maltese growling and scaring dogs and people. Dan came and spent several hours with us and within 15 minutes he had our dog walking calmly - a truly amazing change to witness. We are now able to walk the three dogs at the same time and with very little incident. The key is consistency - while Dan was able to make amazing changes in the short time that he was with us (similar to what you see on dog whisperer) he emphasizes the fact that this is an ongoing process and the key is consistency. Bottom line - if you are not going to follow through (literally every day) with everything that Dan teaches you to do, then save your money. But if you want to have a happier pet and a more enjoyable life then it is well worth the expense. My husband says "it was the best money we ever spent." But again - Dan isn't going to "fix" your dog in the three hours that he is with you - he'll make amazing changes but it's up to the owner to keep the training going. And just want to comment on cost - Dan's price is almost exactly the same as what it costs to take a series of training classes from one of the chain stores. The only difference is Dan does everything in one session - it's intense but for me the one session was much more productive than going once a week for 5 weeks for the same price. read more

We have a German Shepherd who needed some rehabilitation from having multiple owners - one of whom was abusive. Dan was able to observe the environment and then properly advise us how to gain the dog's trust, and increase our success rate with commands and basic obedience. He offered up lessons in canine psychology, and gave us some training insights that targeted our specific issues and family dynamic. Dan always returns my phone calls, and has even consulted with us to fine tune the training as things change along they way. It is very apparent that he loves his work and the animals he serves. My dog suffered from separation anxiety and fear of other dogs and I believed that separation anxiety was incurable. Two sessions with Dan and following his directions on both counts proved me wrong. My precious dog can now function at home without me comfortably anxiety free and is now beginning to learn to enter into a play relationship with other dogs. Dan apparently has done some good work for others but the in and out job he did for us was far from quality. $200 for 3 hours ... and he was done after less than 60 min (even though he hung around for some more time just bs'ing). I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Dan! I am a veterinarian with 6 animals and my house can get chaotic. Two of my female dogs were viciously attacking each other. I tried numerous training techniques and was not having luck. Dan came to my home and in 3 hours changed the entire atmosphere. We called Dan to work with our dog Max (a five-month old pitbull) over the summer, to address issues of severe aggression. It is now November, and we have continued to be amazed at how much his one session with us changed our lives with Max! He is much more docile and compliant. This is not to say that Max is perfect all the time; he is still a nine-month old puppy who can be a little overzealous in greeting new people into our home, he does not always come right away when we call him, and he still gets into things and chews them, but he is MUCH more quick to respond when we redirect him now, using the tips that Dan shared with us. Most importantly, however, we have not witnessed one fraction of the aggression that he used to exhibit on a daily basis towards any of us. This alone is worth the money we spent! We deeply appreciated his support and advice, as without his help, we would not have been able to keep him in our home.
