Yes, amazing Cappuccino - it was so good I almost forgot that I bumped into one of my all-time favourite musicians, Ray LaMontagne, who just so happened to be having a Capp here, too! The Scottish owner/barista is a friendly 'loon', with great customer service and an obvious talent for knowing how to make a good coffee. This place has no prices posted nor do they have a printed menu with prices. The employee had to punch each item into the cash register to determine the price. In most of the US this would be against the law but I assume its OK here in Camden. The coffee was fine but the lack of pricing made me think fondly of Starbucks and that is something that rarely happens. read more

I like coming to Zoot for the local flavor. It is always busy and the walls rotate local art. The owner keeps the place super clean and the employees are delightful. The coffee is generally good, but even better if you are lucky enough to have Isaiah brew it! I had to wait 20 minutes for my coffee to cool to the point of only minorly burning my mouth. Speaking of burned, the soy milk in my latte was burned. Fried. Set upon a funeral pyre and sent off from a glorious death to Valhalla. It tasted like ashes and vanilla syrup. read more

Latte is "milk" in Italian, and the barista must have been from Milan because when I got a latte I got a glass of milk tinged with coffee. Maybe it's the Maine take on a machiatto... Speaking of machiattos, it was very sour. We made the mistake of coming back the next day to try americanos, and asked "for here" but got to go cups. We then asked for some glass cups to pour it into (it was hot to hold through the paper) and the glass cups actually smelled like soap. The coffee itself wasn't that great either. read more

While this has amazing coffee, service is not. They are nice enough, but turtle slow. Even as the only person standing at the counter, there is no greeting until it is your turn to order. I stood there for three minutes while she puttered away at two lattes with not even "I'll be right with" which is odd since you are only 2-feet away. This is a nice little, friendly coffee shop, the coffee was delicious! We got a caramel late and white chocolate mocha. (The white chocolate mocha has the whip cream and was mine) good spot for a mid afternoon kick of caffeine. Some comfier furniture would have been nice to relax a bit more. read more

Zoot's is a likable cafe ideally located near the Opera House. Coffee drinks are excellent, if a bit pricey, and service is cheerful. The one flaw - and it's a deal breaker - is price. A piece of toast was $5. Touted as "artisanal" and tasty enough, there really is no justifying a slice of bread costing the same as a whole loaf. Ok. Coffee is really good, no doubt. But my experience was not good because the barista didn't seem happy because we walked in 10 min before closing time. She made sure to say that we would have to "absolutely" leave when they close. I'm more used to people saying "sorry but we'll be closing in 10 minutes". We discovered Zoot coffee last year at pop tech. No question, this is the best coffee i have ever had. The vegan muffins are to die for. With a tremendous selection of other tasty foods too. As a vegan it's great to know i have choices away from home. There is a "NO phone" policy, which is beyond awesome in todays age. After reading a review about how hot the coffee is, I asked the girl behind the bar. Oh yes..... it's hot. She showed me and my partner the thermometer in the milk pitcher/jug 155F. The sliding artwork show was strange and yet wonderful to, how often do you get to interact with art? If you love coffee, a great place to chill and watch the world go by, you found it. It's the best coffee you'll find in Camden, but a bit on the pricey side. Definitely got the hipster thing going on. They have internet that is relatively speedy for Maine. I will go back if I ever find myself in Camden again. read more

But no one will tell you directly yet will continue to make passive aggressive remarks even if you offer to change seats multiple times. While on vacation in Camden, visited several times. First off no prices listed. That is disturbing. Had an amazing cafe aulait the first day. Next day totally different experience probably because had a different barista. Ordered the brown rice gluten free muffin because it was so heavily endorsed by the barista. One bite in and blech! it was so hard and dry and just crumbled all over the table. Line was out the door and I actually waited in it to return the sorry excuse for a muffin. When I handed it over to the barista and told her my opinion and that I wanted my money back, this is what she said, "well you know gluten free baked goods use different ingreds and that you should not expect better", well then don't endorse the darn thing in the first place or better yet just hand over my money with out a snarky comment. Makes it hard to want to ever go back there again! read more

Thanks to the yelp community for sending me to Zoot! I wandered over (in the rain) for my morning coffee during our visit to Camden, ME. Typically, I would assume that the coffee might be pretty run of the mill, and the cafe might have enough local flavor to get a good yelp review. However, I am posting this review since I think it's important for other coffee lovers to know that this coffee is really good!!! Full, Bold, Flavorful. The staff was also very nice, and the quaint coffee shop (full of macbooks, possibly yelpers) was very charming. Great place to grab a tasty cup while you're preparing for your day and checking your email. read more

It was really hard to decide between 3 and 4 stars - I want to love it more, but the food and baked goods hold me back. It is a sweet little spot in a super convenient location, with very friendly and kind owners and staff. I love the atmosphere created by all of them, and love that they display local art. It is a great spot - a nice local vibe (you'll always bump into someone you know). The coffee is consistently very good I have never been disappointed by any coffee I have ordered, but... I typically go to a coffeeshop for a snack with my coffee and have never really had anything there that was great. The display of baked goods always looks sparse, and though I appreciate vegan and gluten-free options (I have been 100% gf for 15 years and often try to avoid dairy) I just never really enjoy any of the items and am always wishing for more. I won't stop going here, but am thankful for other spots in the area with amazing pastries and baked yummy things. read more

My wife and I visited this place on our way to Camden Hill SP. In need of coffee and a bathroom this place certainly provided. The espresso drinks were great, the atmosphere was fantastic, but I'm afraid that I can't slap on the 5-star review that everyone else here has done for one reason... the coffee. Now I'm sure that it could have been an off day, and I WILL give them another chance when we're back in town, but the coffee was horribly brewed. It was as weak and bland. I sat down with my coffee and took the first sip I wondered if I was drinking a cup of earl grey. ugh, what a disappointment. I'll be back to give them another whirl though. read more

The coffee here is tasty. Strong and good. Here's the problem: there are no prices listed anywhere. And this fact really bothers me. Essentially, there are two things that happen: 1) You don't care about what things cost and you can buy them anyway or 2) You have to ask what they cost and the cashier manually plugs them in in order to determine their price. I ordered an iced coffee (which actually turned out to be an iced americano) and it was $2.85. Eeeek! That is pricey. My boyfriend asked about the absence of prices and they told him that it was an "aesthetic decision..." it is illegal not to post prices in New York, partially to prevent against discrimination. Sure sounds like Zoot Coffee is trying to attract a certain "aesthetic" of clientele. Additionally, the cashiers were very young and unprofessional. I kept hearing squealing and shouting the entire time I was there. read more

Got a latte and had to wait 15 minutes for it to cool down to a drinkable temperature. When I finally took a sip, both the coffee and milk were VERY burnt. Cute shop, but any good barista knows how to heat milk to a correct temperature. Disappointing. read more
