I'd been wanting to stop in ever since I saw the signs for the Plant Theory pop up and finally got to today. So glad I did! They have an absolutely incredible selection. I have close to 100 plants already, so I'm pretty picky with what I'm bringing home these days. I'm really happy to see them move to a more central and larger location in Japantown! Something about being next door to Paradox makes a lot of sense too, and adds to the charm and personality of the neighborhood. Japantown has always had its personality on its own, but Zonkey really adds local flair. The store is well curated, whoever buys/stocks the items does a great job! The workers are always very cool, and even encouraged me to feel comfortable bringing my dog into the store. Support small biz and shop local! I hope to see Zonkey in SJ even as the city continues to rapidly change & grow. I can't describe it, but Japantown/SJ has its unique steez. I've lived in SF for years and visited shops similar to this, but there's just something about Zonkey (and other small boutiques on the strip) that is uniquely SJ and I love it. read more

A gift shop specializing in modern nerdy collectibles. Specifically soft vinyl toys, sofubis, designer toys, action figures, retro toys, and a life size slimer amongst other things. Parking is street only, usually there are spaces available if not right in front then close by. If all else fails there is the city owned surface lot more or less across the street. This is smaller store, almost tiny yet filled with whimsy. Four or five people are capable of making it seem crowded. The stock is carefully cared for and displayed. While it is possible to get fun stuff for kids to play with, this store is meant for the adult collector. The description on yelp says toys, what this really means is collectibles like Funko Pop and Dunny. Pricing can be as low as 10 bucks or so for pins and smaller items, but most likely you'll be dropping more - like around 100 bucks or so. Is it worth it? I was looking for something special for my son. he's 11 years old. I was able to find a Santa Cruz brand hand logo that is co-produced by Marvel. He's really into skateboarding and snowboarding and like Santa Cruz boards. I've never seen anything like it before and I'm sure he's going to love it. Big boys like toys too, and I couldn't resist picking up some of the Megaman mini figures and Deadpool stuff. I was driving by when the store colors caught my eye. It happened as I returned to work from my lunch time in japantown. I did a complete u-turn to see what the store was about. I was floored by how cool the guys that work there are. They share the same love and passion I possess as a toy collector. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and there are a good bit limited edition toys here too. Many marvel theme figures along with Anime and even transformers. Just a nice alternative to the big box stores. Giving you good and unique options for all the little ones (or big ones) in your life. read more

This is a great place for collectibles. They always have a good variety of Funko Pop figures and always carry the latest NECA releases. I've also purchased S.H. Figuarts from them as well. They also have a decent selection of Bandai and Marmit vinyls. This is a really cool shop. read more

Very cool boutique shop that has tons of Funko Pop and some really cool collectibles! I got a few exclusive Funko Pop for my boys and an old Sokol singing Gizmo (yes Gizmo from Gemlins). If you are in Japantown, it is definitely worth it to stop by and check this place out. read more

I found this place while scrolling through Instagram and I was surprised because I never knew Japan Town had a shop like this! When I visited, what immediately caught my eye was the huge amount of pop figures on the wall to my left. They even had some of the rare convention exclusive ones in stock. Heard about this place for awhile finally got the chance to stop by. The place is a bit small but they have a pretty nice selection. If you're looking for funko products they have a pretty nice selection similar to what you would see at hot topic. They sell some exclusives at 3rd market prices a bit of bummer. i heard about zonkey toys through my cousin and a few friends so i decided to check it out. i can go all day about the variety of pop toys and other figures they have. with a lot to choose from its hard to come to a decision when you walk in. ive taken my niece and nephew here and they had a blast while they were there. great customer service. they definitely make people feel welcomed and talk with everyone in the store. awesome edition to the japan town family. i will definitely be going back. read more
