If you like curling and bocce, you will find a lot of similarities. Kerrisdale LBC has an excellent bowling green, really nice members, a terrific clubhouse (cheap beer!), excellent coaching and several provincial and national champions in their ranks. It is easily accessible by bus and has a ton of free parking right outside the club. I encourage anyone that would like to try it out to swing by the club and roll a few bowls (free!) to check it out.

Stuck around as my youngest was attending a birthday party this afternoon from 1-3:30…read more Cloris was my favourite staffer and go-to gal for things like an extra bin for overflow birthday presents, cups for water (and she brought me a stack which I appreciated as forward-thinking because I could leave them for the other parents in our group too), and she was extra patient with my kid when he was choosing a prize with his tickets. For the most part, I really like the systems here that made the party run fairly smoothly. Our party host staffer (didn't catch her name but she had the coolest purple shoes) was super helpful in distributing food, assisting with cake cutting, refilling pitchers, quickly cleaning up after spills and proactively dealing with cupcake leftovers being put in the fridge. Three things I'd maybe suggest could run differently: 1) have coloured wristbands assigned to party rooms so that you can tell instantly who belongs to your party group. Like at one point, we had a random little girl asking for tokens from our party host, and then a little boy just sat himself down at our party table eating food and blending in until our host mom said, "Who is this kid??" And then a minute later his mom found him! The parents thought it was hilarious. The staff also have neon shirts so maybe you can match party host to wristband colours. If this system already exists, I didn't notice and only thought of it now. 2) For bumper car passes and tokens, it would be good if birthday party kids got an allotment with their socks at the start when you sign in at the front desk. The less that parent hosts have to worry about, the better. The thing where each kid signs in and chooses hot dog or pizza is fantastic. Our host mom thought she'd have to take care of that and was relieved not to. 3) For saying goodbye and around retrieving their shoes, that could be the time and location that party hosts can give out their goodie bags. It's just a little awkward that there's no specific place to do that. I appreciated not having to sign a waiver but that's probably not the greatest for the establishment's purposes. I also appreciated not having to pay entry fee as an adult even though I was prepared to pay. But then again, encouraging parents to stay without charging them means they're okay with waiting around for their kid, being around to supervise as opposed to dropping off and leaving, and like one parent I saw, will buy food. Overall, the place seemed clean and with good air flow. The play area is large and there was a garage door open so I felt safe enough not to have to wear a mask which I really liked. The party rooms are large with high ceilings. I usually wear a mask in the classroom because of a low ceiling. It was about half full and there was lots of space for parents to gather at tables and hang out to wait for their kids. I don't know that I'd be back on my own because my oldest might feel too old for the climbing part, but the youngest had a wonderful time.

Pretty good driving range for the North Shore. Yes there are better in the lower mainland but on…read morethe North Shore this is the best. Although on Monday and Fridays you can use the Seymour Golf Club driving range but they are semi private and much more expensive for a bucket of balls. There is also another driving range in the North Shore called Seymour Creek but hitting their balls is like hitting rocks in a demilitarized zone. Takaya balls are pretty good. There is a mix of brand new and older balls (all Top Flight I think). There is also a mix of mats and hitting surfaces. The price is average, 7 bucks for 75 balls. There are bonus times where you get 90 for the same price. Look out for Groupon or living social deals. Often you can get 10 buckets for 30 dollars. Make sure to load your groupon/living social deals onto a loyalty card (unless you want to carry a ton of paper slips). Practice facility is a joke. But again on the Northshore that's the best you can get. (unless you go to Seymour Golf Club on a Monday/Friday public day). Our kids love the minigolf. Price is pretty decent for an hour of fun. Staff is usually an unenthusiastic teenager. Sometimes the owner is there and he is really nice. Also some of the instructors seem really nice.

The prices area great ($6.50 for 90 balls) but the mats can be hit and miss, the service is generally rendered by unenthusiastic teens, and their chipping and putting surface is too fast. Rates are $45-$65/hr with a maximum of 6 per lane. They also offer $20 all you can bowl on Sundays (8pm to midnight) but four bowlers are required. Online reservations are great, and you can pre-fill bowlers names to save time once you get there. We ordered the 90min package with two shoe rentals and the cost was $102.05! That's extremely expensive for an hour and a half of bowling, compared to other alleys like REVS which charges per game and has deals for $2-$5 game. There were a few lanes of kids having a birthday party with the 5 pin bowling, but other than that it was not too busy for a Saturday morning. The bowling alley staff were helpful and the lanes are renovated, and have updated touch screen scoring. There are also plenty of slide helper things for the little ones which was really nice. We had an enjoyable time bowling, but for the price we probably won't be back. We also had lunch at their attached restaurant that doesn't open until 12, when the bowling alley opens at 10. FYI the service is just very slow and inattentive. We were a table of four and were brought one glass of water, and despite asking several times for more waters they never arrived. Every time we had to try to get someone's attention, and no one ever came to see how we were doing or if we needed anything else. As we arrived right when it opened, we were the first ones there. I saw severs just standing around chatting when I could see our food ready at the expediting table for a while. The food was okay, but the customer service was so off putting.

However, there are some holes that need a little strategic planning - so bring some extra balls just in case ;) The course is more or less well kept and the grass is trimmed. Feel free to bring your own clubs and balls but you can rent as well. Game $5.60. Clubs $1. Balls $1.25. There is plenty of parking on the lot or in the neighborhoods. There are washrooms available too.
