I had occasion to try Zizzi on a recent archaeology trip to Driffield by way of Hull. The staff was pleasant on arrival, seated me promptly, asked for my drink order and then I was on my own. I noticed that they did were not in a hurry to take my dinner order, and did not try to sell me a second cocktail, despite there being at least 3 people walking directly in front of my table a total of at least nine times. Again, nice folks, but no understanding of salesmanship. One wonders if the manager scratches his or her head at the end of the month wondering if there is anything that can be done to improved the bottom line.
A couple of other notables: when I came in I saw a row of either coolers or warmer lined up along the wall. I immediately wondered if they were ordering meal items in bulk, and heating them on site as needed. (The entree I had seemed to be of this variety.)
Meal value was fair, service uninspired, the room sparsely populated but well kept. Music was a bit loud but I am sure the workers liked it. read more
