I dined at here last night as part of a party of about a dozen of us. This was my first visit to a…read moreF&B's and reading the reviews of the Kingswood outlet I was expecting the worst, however my experience was not nearly as bad as I was expecting. The table was booked for 5.45, and the table was ready for us at that time, although we didn't actually sit down until we'd all arrived and had a drink in the bar area, which was shortly after 6pm. Most of us chose from the specials menu which offers two courses for £9.95, and a 3rd course for a couple of quid extra, so value for money the menu appeared to be spot-on. The only disappointment was that they could not provide us with Bruschetta, apparently they were short of onions that night. With this in mind I opted for the Mozzarella & Tomato Salad to start with, and the American Blue Pizza as a main course. Although the restaurant was over 2/3 full, our starters arrived within 30 mins, which bearing in mind the size of our party, I did not feel was particually slow and gave us a chance to chat and catch up with what was happening in each other's lives. Furthermore it appeared that other diners were receiving their orders before us, which to me demonstrated that the kitchen-staff were able to prioritise orders and not let other diners be inconvenienced by our presence. My only complaint with the meal was that my starter did not have very much salad. This as a non-meat eater, is a common gripe as the dishes I generally choose cost far less to prepare, yet are of the same size or the same price as meat dishes. The pizza was excellent. The thin base was crispy but not burnt. There was enough tomato base to flavour and compliment the pizza, but not so much that it took over, and the toppings gave a good taste and texture to the meal. Having a hearty appetite I did opt for a dessert, and chose the Sticky Toffee Pancakes. These were prepared and served quickly, and I found them particularly tasty. The service was good, and the staff attentive, especially as I earlier noted, the restaurant was reasonably full, and actually became as full as it did in a very short space of time. Being a chain 'themed' Italian/American restaurant, you are not going to get the authentic taste of Italian food, and to get that you should go to a non-chain/franchise restaurant. For a pleasant dining experience this F&B's outlet did tick all the boxes, and my partner and I will be returning in the near future to try the breakfast menu. If there was more Rocket on my starter then this would have been a 5* review.

I normally visit around lunch or mid afternoon and generally speaking the service is very good and the staff seem very child friendly which is always a bonus and the food is great - the only real downside of pizza hut is the price. If they have an offer on of something you like it's great otherwise the prices aren't that competitive - especially considering the amount of competition locally. The pizzas are good (and I don't really like pizza that much) the salad is superb, the loaded skins are out of this world and the pasta isn't bad. I would rate this a four if the main menu prices were lower.

I noticed that they did were not in a hurry to take my dinner order, and did not try to sell me a second cocktail, despite there being at least 3 people walking directly in front of my table a total of at least nine times. Again, nice folks, but no understanding of salesmanship. One wonders if the manager scratches his or her head at the end of the month wondering if there is anything that can be done to improved the bottom line. A couple of other notables: when I came in I saw a row of either coolers or warmer lined up along the wall. I immediately wondered if they were ordering meal items in bulk, and heating them on site as needed. (The entree I had seemed to be of this variety.) Meal value was fair, service uninspired, the room sparsely populated but well kept. Music was a bit loud but I am sure the workers liked it.

(I didn't expect a lot after all it is only £6.95 or something like that for lunch great value), However there lurking on the edge of my plate was that purple and green stuff along with a slice of the red tomato trying to convince the diner that it was salad. This lettuce however was limp and had the constituency of a Vielida floor cloth, I had the cheek to point it out to the waitress after the meal (actually it was the manageress as I later discovered) that the lettuce was not very fresh, to which said replied that it is fresh every 2 days. I tried to assure her that it most definitely wasn't to which she turned round in a very rude manner "well it is so der". When she returned from the kitchen I asked her name and she refused to give it to us saying "no I'm not telling you my name" when I asked why "cos I'm not" and walked off. My partner asked our original waitress who took the order who she was and she said that she was "the manageress". I should point out that at no point was I wanting anything of the bill or free or anything else I was just trying to point out the one shortfall in the trimmings. I have written to F & B's head office with a complaint regarding this and will add there comments to this review when or if a reply is received. If there is ever a Qype award for the worst Waitress I nominate the manageress on duty (I believe her name to be Kate) at 1.00pm on the 5th November 2008 at Frankie & Benny's Kingswood HULL. I wouldn't recommend you go though it's not worth the hassle.

I had Fungi Rapini and my daughter had prawns in a sauce, I am sure had mushrooms and pate been fresh and homemade then it would have been very nice unfortunately I suspect these are bought in. The prawns however were better and my daughter enjoyed them, although the cloth lettuce as a garnish was more suited to the bin. The Fillet steak I had was very nice as was the Halibut chosen by my daughter, the vegetables where adequate but after having to send the bottle of red wine back (they had tried warming it under a hot tap). I was not overall impressed, combined with the condiment set having residues of previous dinners on the outside and a feeling that it wasn't the cleanest of places I have decided to give this one a miss next time. On this occasion, I had a mozzarella and rocket starter. Would have been better if the plate wasn't covered rocket and had more mozzarella/tomato. For main I had a 'special' pizza, which has salami and prosciutto ham. there was a decent amount of ham but the salami was thin on the ground. When I came to the desserts, I avoided the dessert platter so share like the plague! after our last visit and ordering the afore mentioned dessert, you can't help but feel ripped off! there is barely more on the sharing platter then there was on the dessert plate of someone who had ordered a single portion. The restaurant is nice and clean and has quite a fresh look. The staff are nice but there is one person there, who I'm assuming is a manger of some description as they're in normal clothing, who is over the top with the niceties! to the point that its irritating! generally though, the staff are good and helpful. We have a tastecard so we got bogof on all courses which made the price reasonable. without the tastecard, I personally wouldn't want to go as I feel its over priced. our reservation was for a group of 5 and our waitress had no problem in accepting 2 tastecards for our party and splitting the bill into two. some places can be a bit funny about this.
