Our landlord had Matt call us to schedule a time for him to come address our flooded basement. Matt called my partner, and she came up to me and gave me the phone and she was visibly upset. I started talking to Matt he was unbelievably rude and condescending. He kept telling me he is "the best plumber that you will ever meet." He kept asking what the source of the flooding was and I said, "I'm sorry, I'm not sure of the exact spot, but it has rained for 2 days and I woke up this morning with 3-4 inches of water in our basement." His response was "Thats what they all say, I need to know exactly where its coming from so I know exactly where to put the sump unless your landlord wants to spend $100k." He also felt is necessary to tell me again that he is the best and that he is "without wife and child, finally." I cannot express how uncomfortable that phone call made my family. read more

I asked what does that sound like and he said "black", "I don't service blacks", and hung up. I have never been so insulted in my intire life. The communication with this company surpassed my expectations even though they did not perform the job I needed. Someone was scheduled to come to my examine the job situation. For a small operation, this expense of time is commendable. At the last minute, an established client needed emergency help. The owner recommended a business with many plumbers on staff. Not only did the owner call to follow up with me, the marketing coordinator called too to see if I had been able to secure someone to perform the work. We hired Matt with Zippy Plumber to do a repair at a home that we manage and he went out but then there was no other communication from him even though the problem was not fixed. The tenant contacted him to let him know the issue was not resolved and I also called and texted many times and received no response. The repair was not completed and the lack of response from Matt was extremely unprofessional. read more

Called them at 3am for an emergency plumbing repair. The operator said a technician would call back. No one did. Called back 2 more times and both times operator was super nice, said she would get a tech to call me back but no one did. I had a shower faucet that had been leaking for a few months and decided to get it taken care of. To Zippy's credit, they did send someone out the next day to take a look at the issue. I was told by Robert that there are basically two ways to fix the issue 1) Rebuild the components in the faucet or 2) Replace the faucet and inner-workings completely. That sounded like a fair assessment, but was then told that Zippy doesn't really recomend the first option because it doesn't really fix the problem... ok so really the only choice is to replace. I was told that I'd have to pay 1/2 the cost upfront ($650) as Robert would be getting the replacement pieces himself, but rest assured he would get quality pieces. Turns out he went out and bought a shower unit that didn't fit properly and frankly looks terrible from within the shower (see pictures). Then he informed me that he'd have to access the internal parts from behind, and that there'd be a small hole which Zippy wasn't responsible for fixing after... ok, not great but I can live with it. The work was done in about 3 hours. Let me repeat, the work was done in 2 hours and I was charged $1300. Also, the "small hole" tuned out to be an oddly shaped hole about 1ft by 1 1/2ft which I can't cover with the type of mechanism that Robert suggest I go buy from Home Depot. Things I'm not happy about: - We had to use one of my personal blankets to keep all of the drywall and demo pieces from going all over the room - The wall still has a good size hole in it - The shower pieces don't fit the original size of the old one and look terrible from within the shower - Most importantly Robert was going to leave without calking the edges of the shower handle when there were HOLES between the metal cover and the tile due to him purchasing too small of a piece! Why would a professional leave a space for water to surely get into the wall? Would not recommend Zippy, and in fact have half a mind to hire a 2nd company to come do the job correctly and then take Zippy to small claims court. Terrible experience for 3 hours of work and again $1300 to fix a leaking shower faucet. read more

They were quick to respond and send a plumber. However, they are severely overpriced. Quoted me over $16k for a pipe replacement in my crawlspace. Of course, I got other quotes. I ended up using another certified plumber who not only did everything they were going to do, but also replaced all the pipes in the house. Only cost me $4.5k! read more

Buyer beware. I had a sewer with tree roots In it. Caused a back up in my basement. I called Zippy. Nice guy, seems very honest. I trusted them. To replace 6' of sewer pipe approximately 10' down came to shy of $8k. I was shocked, I asked a friend who used them for a similar problem same price. So my neighbor just had the same problem tried another company his quote Was $1200. Job done. I feel I was ripped off. Very bad feeling. Please go with another company and save money. Matt came out on a Sunday. A remediation company had detected moisture in my wall the day before and suggested I get a plumber to detect where the moisture was coming from. Matt, cut open the wall further to find I had a pipe with holes in it due to nails that had punctured the pipe during the initial construction of the building. He cut out the damaged pipe, replaced it with a new one and successfully took care of the leak. I was very impressed with Matt's professionalism and diligence in taking care of this serious problem. It is not everyday you have an "enjoyable emergency plumbing" experience, but Zippy Plumber did just that. I called frantically explaining that my garbage disposal was leaking into my cabinet and making quite a mess on my wood floors-- Robert immediately stepped in and went to work assessing the situation, making his schedule available, and finally, fixing my problem in less than five minutes! I was not able to be at home for the visit but Robert called me as he arrived and walked through the whole process over the phone in a kind and calm manner. Called at 2:25 p.m. June 19th (aren't cell phones a wonderful tool for tracking?)...it was a 3 minute call so clearly I did speak with someone - Supposed to have someone call me back to set up appointment - waited all day that day and the next ; then called again the next evening to see what the problem was....she was apologetic and said she would get in touch with them again. Called earlier this morning about a leaky p-trap and Matt had a plumber scheduled same day. The plumber, Shaun, quickly identified the issue, evaluated a couple of quick fix solutions but we ultimately decided to rebuild the p-trap and get it right. As a Millennial, I am not big on liking to get my hands dirty. Sometimes the job calls for it however. I had a plumbing issue at a property where one of the bathroom sinks was clogged. The tenant tells me he shaves his head in the sink. "Well, do you pull the hair out or just it go down the drain?" Down the drain he says. Smh. As landlord this is my responsibility? Fine. I look at the situation and cannot easily determine what the problem is here. Quite frankly, I do not want to deal with it so I start yelping for a plumber. I even tried TaskRabbit but they had no one available. After reaching a few plumbers by phone, no one had immediate availability. They had openings on Monday...and it's currently Thursday. That was until I reached Matt at Zippy Plumber or the chatty plumber as he calls himself. To be clear Matt and I have only verbally met. He never came out to do the job. I desricbed my issue and he asked if I had plastic pipes underneath. I did and he said this was super easy and that he would guide me through it. Wait, let me back up. First, Matt told me the same as the other plumbers that he had no availability and was overbooked. He referred me to a guy named Peter whom he apprenticed with coming up in the plumbing game. Peter was less busy but just as good. I was going to call him until Matt agreed to give me some pointers. It was not long, we were on the phone maybe 5 minutes. Unscrew this, unscrew that, get a bowl and let it drain....and your basically done. Ooooooohhhhh. Geez, that was easy. Hey, plumbing with pvc pipes is not my forte but if you live you should learn something new everyday. Since Matt was so helpful and took the time to shed some knowledge about plumbing with me; I am taking the time to write him a review and shed some knowledge on his service and how stellar it really is with Zippy. Even with these pointers, I still went on YouTube for a little more guidance. Done and done. I support Matt. He even extended an offer for me to call back if I had more questions. How nice! What a wonderful and pleasant experience. They gave me a same-day appointment, the plumber showed up on time, and he was very polite. Very knowledgeable and professional. He took care of the issue and showed me what was causing the problems. Also showed me how to take care of the issue in future. Our situation quickly went from bad, to worst case, to beyond worst case. Think original, turn of the century terracotta piping that had disintegrated both under the foundation and outside of the house....6 feet under our driveway. Matt from Zippy Plumber came (way after normal business hours) and immediately was able to not only assess the situation, but articulate it to us in layman terms, intelligently. He immediately have us extremely high confidence in his ability to help us with a pretty dire situation. He also managed to call someone late on a Saturday to have an excavator ready to come for Sunday morning. Matt is my new favorite plumber. When you have #oldhouseproblems you need a good plumber in your contact list. I needed a new garbage disposal installed today and contacted Matt in the mid morning. He was able to fit me in between 5-7pm same day. Perfect! He got the new disposal in quickly and with attention to detail. Also price was as quoted - no mysterious surprises like you get sometimes. He also confirmed my suspicions that we have a serious issue with the way our sink was originally installed. He got under the sink and took pictures so that I can better explain the issue and get it taken care of by the appropriate contractor. Above and beyond! I also mentioned some other "dicey" work that had been done in our master bath with a tile shower. Long story short it was installed by a monkey or toddler and is completely unsound (cracking and loose tile, weird water pooling etc.) He quickly pointed out the major issues and gave me suggestions for how to handle it. He even gave me the contact info for a trusted tile guy. Again, above and beyond! Being a house repair nerd at this point, nothing excites me more than detailed explanations of how solid work should be done. I think some pros like to keep their knowledge to themselves but I always appreciate someone who is willing to explain things. My faith in Atlanta tradesman/contractors has been restored. Had another separate issue with my washer line and zippy came back - same great experience!

I called because I needed my garbage disposal replaced. I had another appointment with a company, however they were very unprofessional and arrived later than scheduled, and thought I was okay with them just 'showing up anytime' and not calling. After declining their services, I quickly looked online to find a licensed, dependable plumber who could replace my older garbage disposal with a new one. Robert and Alston arrived at my home on time and as scheduled. They took their shoes off prior to entering my home....a nice plus since we don't wear shoes in the house. They assessed the situation quickly, asked me some troubleshooting questions and quickly got to work. The job itself was relatively quick, and well under the estimated proposed time. Thankfully I had no additional issues such as water leakage or damage from my disposal or pipes underneath the sink. These gentleman were professional, answering service calls outside of the home, which was very pleasant to see them do that. They tagged team at every interval and double checked the work when it was completed. Prior to closing the sale, I was asked if I had questions-which I had one that was answered. They cleaned up and took the old disposal with them.....so no cleanup for me! Would I call them again? Absolutely! Would I refer them out to my friends and family? I've already done it! read more

It's just as well I never received a call back from the representative plumber in my area. Just to get an estimate on a new conventional water heater will cost $69.95. I thought I had an emergency water leak yesterday, Monday morning. I called one of the names above Zippy's rating and they never called me back until after 4 PM. Robert, at Zippy plumbing, answered the phone and said he would be over in 15 minutes. He and his helper were unbelievably prompt, friendly, and polite. Christina and Robert are amazing. Thanks to the ice storm, we had the pipe leading to our hot water heater freeze. Due to busted pipes everywhere and the backlog of work for everyone, we had a difficult time even getting plumbers to talk to us. Upon calling Zippy, Christina walked us through the steps to take to ensure that the entire plumbing system would not explode, once the dreaded thaw happened. She even called back prior to the technician arriving to make sure all was okay. Needless to say, when the pipe defrosted, it burst, sending water everywhere. Of course the water shut off valve was inoperable, as things are when emergencies arise. Christina to the rescue again! Robert was here in no time and was able to turn the water off at the meter before costly damage occurred. He was able to mend the broken pipe before I had to resort to Xanax. OH! The rate was $350/hour and they roll the $69 trip charge into that if you agree to get the work done. In addition to changing a toilet flapper, the technician looked at another toilet downstairs, assessed the supply valves as not working and needing repair at some point, and he also checked the water pressure and told me it was too high. I will have to look for a lower hourly rate for the bigger repairs that apparently need to be done. Matt was super nice on the phone and the tech was nice and informative. read more
