You walk into a fresh space, vibrant in color. You get warmly greeted and introduced to an array of creamy delights. This is high quality gelato. It's also topped with a miniature cone and toppings of your choice. We loved it! There are delicious pies and candies too. Drop by soon!

Zio Matto Gelato is the brightest and cleanest storefront in Memphis downtown. The signage, equipment and menu all look promising, except both the hand churned gelato and waffle cone missed the mark. All the gelato tastes like quick melting whipped mousse instead of the hard packed ice cream I personally prefer.

I have had a lot of Old Fashioneds. Lots…read more We scored two seats at the bar in the lobby of the Peabody right after the 5:00 duck march. I regret not recalling our bartenders name, but he was fantastic (management if you are reading this he was serving at 5:00 on Friday June 24th). I ordered and Old Fashioned and he asked what whiskey I would like, I asked what he suggested, "Jack Daniels Peabody Select, it is a single barrel." I took his selection. He proceeded to make my wife and I the perfect Old Fashioned, muddled cherries and oranges to release all the flavors, but not turn them into mush, a double shot pour of the Peabody Select and a splash of soda. Once served your drink, you look around and you are in an beautiful, iconic hotel that takes you back in time. A great place to have a cocktail, and what a great cocktail it is.

What an atrocious experience. If I had not wanted to see the march of the ducks so badly, I would…read morehave left. As a first time visitor to Memphis, I was expecting this to be one of the highlights of my trip and it most assuredly was not. We walked into the bar area and instead of being greeted, we were screamed at to take a seat and that if we did not take a seat, we had to leave. This directive appeared to be from a manager, who we later saw walking around the lobby area. We had only arrived moments earlier and were just getting settled. There was no sign so we were unaware of this. I'm baffled that this could not have been stated kindly. A "Welcome, please take a seat as there is no standing during this time and we will bring over a menu shortly" would have been perfect. Our server was awful. We ordered drinks and she immediately closed my tab, even though I had not requested that it be closed. I knew right then I was going to order another drink. I understood that it was busy, but it took almost 20 minutes to get a second cocktail and another 10-15 for my whiskey pour, both of which were ordered after the duck march and after the crowd had dissipated. I ordered my whiskey on the rocks, which I often do, but have never had it served with SO many. Way to water down this proprietary spirit collaboration between the establishment and Jack Daniel's, which I had been very excited to try, but left me disappointed. Our server barely checked in with us. Looking at the current health score, I am surprised that we did not get sick here. I am unsure why we were treated so badly. I am not poor nor do I look poor and even if I was, that is no excuse for bad service. The bar is open to non-guests of the hotel, so if it was because I was not staying at the hotel that was a choice I made because I typically do not stay in hotels, with bath/shower combos, especially ones that were recently redone, so as much as I wanted to stay here that was an nonstarter. It is highly unlikely that I would ever consider returning in any capacity, despite wanting to try the spa, the bakery, and other restaurant and retail amenities in this hotel. It is shameful to have had such a déclassé experience in such an elegant establishment.
