Mmmm finally a place without pasta or pizza. Really craving some sandwiches haha. This place is pretty small btw, there are places to sit but it can def get busy so grab a spot! I love how they also have mini sandwiches to try more and large ones if you really like it! Everything was super fresh! The ones we tried: Strawberry hill (4 stars)- This one was really good and unique with the balsamic! Peggy Rockfeller (4 stars)- The parmigiano in this was really good! Chorus (5 stars)- A veggie one but soooo, loved the mint, the creamy ricotta and the fiori di zucca mmm! Marion (4 stars)- Also got this one, like a smoked salmon bagel but better! I would def come back here, we ordered like 3 different times because we got a bunch of mini's and wanted to try as much as possible! I tried some other ones but forgot which ones they were, these were the best for me though!

I would move in to this adorable little restaurant if I could. Just a few minutes walk from the colosseum, but off the beaten path enough that you can escape all the crazy tourists and pushy waiters trying to get you into their tourist trap. The place is perfectly decorated and the food is simple, fresh and delicious. Tons of options for vegetarian and meat lovers alike! You can even finish your meal with a "mini' rosetta with Nutella (which we did!)

Some little sandwiches.. Our coffee isn't from here

Really tasty sandwiches and potatoes. Quick and friendly service. A nice lunch option in Rome.

Our sandwiches were cut in half and one half was big enough to make the average person full. We got five sandwiches for only about €30! The place was not a tourist trap, but i have to say, the seats at the booth were uncomfortable to me, and the place was a bit small. Sorry i do not have photos. But overall, I would recommend to go here.

This place was so incredible, we went TWICE during our 3 day stay in Rome!…read more We had tried the other "super famous" Italian sandwich spot earlier in our trip and it did NOT deliver. Pane e Salame, however, was delicious!!!! On our first day in Rome, my husband and I decided to search for a lunch spot nearby (we were staying near the Trevi fountain), and I found this place had pretty good reviews. We got there about an hour after it opened and requested a seat outdoors. They have a tiny patio across from their entrance, but they fit quite a bit of people in it! We initially wanted to order two sandwiches to try more items, but I'm glad we just shared one - they were big and filling! We also had the small charcuterie board to share which was plenty of food for us both. We shared a bottle of rose, and all in all, we paid under $50 (usd) - what a steal! This was the perfect first meal in Rome. The food was incredibly fresh, the service was great, and the outdoor seating allowed us to experience the streets of Rome. 10/10 - would absolutely go back.

A yummy thing happened on the way to the Colosseum …read more.. Pane & Vino is a tiny sandwich shop near il Colosseo that specializes in local porchetta (stuffed pork loin) and is run by the friendliest owner of all time. He gets to know every customer on a first name basis. I'd go back more to see him than to have a sandwich. Seriously, he's pretty awesome. The menu is simple and focused on sandwiches featuring their famous porchetta so we tried two recommendations from the peppy proprietor. While waiting, I got a miniature bottle of Chardonnay and my spouse sipped a Coke Zero. The Traiano Porchetta sandwich (12€ - 4 stars) is an original creation of the out-going owner with a mighty Mustard-flavored blend of Roast Pork, Sun-dried Tomatoes, and Grilled Eggplant. I like mustard and, therefore, liked this specialty much more than my wife, but we ended up ignoring portions of the so-so bun. Pane & Vino Special Porchetta (12€ - 4 stars) was a huge sandwich with the sliced Roast Pork Porchetta plus Mozzarella Cheese, Grilled Eggplant, Grilled Peppers, Mushrooms, Lettuce, and Mayo on classic Italian Pane. It needed more mayonnaise or a sprinkle of balsamic and olive oil for my tastes, but there was no denying it was a hearty hero. There are lots of pane bread and sandwich shops in Rome, but there is only one -- Pane & Vino -- run by the most welcoming of owners ever. If I'm in the neighborhood again, I'll be sure to stop in for a casual chat and some yummy porchetta sandwiches on the way to the Colosseum.

Both sandwiches were delicious and the perfect bite after the coliseum! The owner was super friendly and helpful and even recommended a place for us to visit "the Roman Keyhole" - a great find and a well deserved five stars. Thanks again yelp!
