Those food truck comes to my job probably 4-5 times a week! He is the reason I can't be great on my diet! The Gyro is amazing, the lamb is always seasoned perfectly and the salad is delicious too! I love the chick peas as well, it also comes with Spinach too! The owner is really nice he is always very friendly and even when my coworkers mess up on orders he is cool and willing to fix and exchange for you. His food is so delicious I even take a tray home to hubby. Great seasoned meat and excellent customer service! Best Food Truck! read more

Two and a half stars. Wild salad ingredients sounded less boring than Caesar, but the generic shredded lettuce saddened me despite the thinly sliced red onions, olives, tomato dice, and crumbled feta. Very bland chickpeas, the spinach has got to be better. Lamb platter offers tender cubes of gyro meat over slightly mushy rice. The drizzle of spicy sauce atop it is unimpressive in heat and flavor. Their price point is decent for the food portion compared to other trucks, but I'd still shell out a little more for Tasty Kabob's superior flavor. read more

Zesty Kabob - Lamb platter w/chickpeas, wild salad, spicy. - Food Trucks Near Me

I was walking by this food truck today and decided to take a chance. I ordered the combination platter of lamb & chicken. The lamb was basically gyro meat which I thought was okay. But the chicken was full of flavor...which I would definitely order again. They were out of chick peas so I got the spinach instead. Suprisingly enough, the spinach was good. I find that most kabob places overcook the spinach, but not Zesty Kabob. I ended up eating all of my spinach this time! As I was waiting for my food , the guy gave me a sample of the mixed chicken and beef...which I didn't care for. My patter also came with a decent salad for a total of about $9. I had enough food for 2 meals. I would recommend Zesty Kabob for lunch. 3.5 Stars! read more

Zesty Kabob - Veggie platter - Food Trucks Near Me

This place smelled yummy walking by during lunchtime on an Easter weekend Saturday. The line was long and took forever to order but it was worth the wait (esp compared to the type of food other food trucks were selling in that vicinity). Got the combo plate with double order of spinach. Got the spinach because of all the reviews on yelp and YES IT REALLY IS GOOD! People were complaining about the rice but it wasn't as bad as some of the other reviews made it seem. It wasn't superb or anything but it's totally mediocre and good enough to go w/ the meal. They gave me lots of chicken with not that much lamb. The chicken was good, but the lamb was much better. I wish they gave me more lamb. The orange tzatziki sauce was tasty. They sell a can of soda for $1. They also sell a 20oz bottle of water for $1. Twenty ounces for a dollar?? That's a steal deal! read more

Zesty Kabob - Combo plate with double spinach. Orange tzatziki sauce over meat and spicy sauce on the side. - Food Trucks Near Me

This was a pretty average food truck experience. There are some really awesome kabob trucks out there and this just isn't one of them. I ordered the chicken platter, which came with rice and two sides (I got spinach and caesar salad). The chicken was good but not great. Some pieces were tasty and others not so much. Although not amazing, definitely still enjoyable. The rice was standard yellow rice and I actually thought it went nicely with the chicken. The salad was as one would expect a caesar salad to be. The spinach though was disappointing and not as good as other reviewers had described. It was too watery and lost the appeal of its flavor after a bite or two. read more

Great price, portion, and flavor. I came here for lunch when walking by the area and ordered the veggie platter (since I'm a vegetarian). It had a side of spinach, with a main course of chickpeas and rice. The rice was standard yellow rice. But the chickpeas and the sauce made the meal. Service took less than 5 minutes even during the lunch rush. I would recommend. read more

A solid 4.5 stars, i rounded up because 1) tax is included and 2) they were super nice. First things first, huge portions which always keeps me at the minimum a 3.5 star level unless the food is not edible. I mean the worst thing is having great food and not enough of it... Zesty gives me more than enough to keep me happy... and sleepy during the workday afternoon. Their chicken tastes moist and seasoned well, the lamb is the standard cube/mix but no complaints from me. They do have the standard chickpea and spinach side but what sets them apart is that you have options on the salad. (or you can opt for a veggie medley). The only minor knock is that their rice while good is just the standard yellow, with kebobs you have to go with the fennel/herb infused rice to get the full authentic flavor of halal food. But definitely worth a stop if you see this truck, the server also gives you free samples of chicken and lamb as well if you want a taste before diving in. read more

Zesty Kabob - Yummy food, big portions, and a nice salad :) - Food Trucks Near Me

Went to D.C. with a couple of friends to try some good food trucks and I came across Zesty Kabob. I ordered the daily special which was lamb and chicken over rice or salad and a choice of two sides. I got the chickpeas and spinach. The service is pretty good, but when I got my order it only came with lamb, not the additional chicken. The flavors were really good and not too spicy, and the chickpeas and spinach were mediocre as well. Adding the sides to the salad is a definite must as it adds more flavor and makes the meal even more enjoyable. read more

Zesty Kabob - Daily special - Food Trucks Near Me

This is an amazing food truck. The food is always fresh and the staff are really friendly. When they show up at my job it's the one food truck that everyone knows to tell me is outside because they know how much I love it. What I enjoy is that when trying to eat healthy I'm able to get a protein and double up on the veggies and it's not a problem. If you haven't tried it before try now and try the extra spicy sauce. read more

There aren't many options in Friendship Heights from a culinary perspective. As such, I'm generally thrilled when a food truck graces its presence in my chain friendly work neighborhood. Zesty Kabob decided to make the trek to Friendship Heights and hopefully, with a little bit of work, this truck will eventually be a four star experience. Right now, however, it isn't the experience I was hoping it would be. Let's start with the positives. The spinach side that I chose was neither overseasoned nor overcooked. Neither the spinach nor the side salad take up the majority of your plate when ordering the platter. The salad is somewhat minimal, but the elements play well enough together to be a welcome change from the rest of the meal. The lamb on its own is pretty good. In fact, I would suggest not adding any of the sauces to your order as it actually detracts from the taste of the meat. There are a number of negatives as well. Namely, 90% of the container devoted to lamb and rice consists of the latter which is poorly flavored with ample amounts of dill weed and no other spice. The aforementioned sauces are an unmitigated disaster with the spicy paste tasting no different than a low end tabasco sauce and the creamier sauce being accented with the exact same dill weed that is used to flavor the rice. There is a $2 extra charge for requesting extra meat which might be required with this particular food truck. The amount of rice served here is extraordinary and not in a good way. Would I go back to Zesty Kabob? Yes, but next time I'm ordering the extra meat, requesting sauces only for my salad, and hoping that this will solve all the problems. In its current iteration, I'd say it is a three star experience. read more

Judging from the previous reviews, Zesty Kabob has gotten better. I order the lamb platter with rice for $9.90 with tax. The generous lamb portion was tender and tasty. (I ordered a "little" spicy.) The Greek salad was better than most food truck salads: diced tomatoes, onions, olives, and lettuce with feta cheese. The chickpeas side was good. I enjoyed the bismati rice cooked with dill. There are several good Kabob around, and this one is one of the better one. read more

Probably some of the BEST chicken I've tried from a kabob place in like...EVER! I ordered the chicken kabob over rice with a salad for $11. The chicken was very salty, dried out, tough, and sinewy, as if it had been cooked and reheated several times over the previous days. The salad was very small, about half the size you get from similar kabob trucks. Definitely not worth $11, for which I expect to be served chicken that has been cooked the day I order it, as opposed to leftovers from several days before. Skip this kabob truck and try another - there are plenty in the city. read more

I used to visit Zesty Kabob every Monday when I worked near Farragut Square-- I am so sad that I no longer work there and can't get my weekly Zesty Kabob fix! The food is delicious! I typically get the chicken platter, but I have also had the chicken/lamb platter and both are great. The price is the going rate for similar food trucks, but I think the quality is much higher. I am always pleasantly surprised at how much meat you get with the platters because so often at kabob places it's a lot of rice and an underwhelming amount of meat. They also allow you to switch out the sides so you don't get stuck with something you don't really like. For example, if you don't like chickpeas, then you can swap that out for another serving of salad. The lady who works the window is incredibly kind and remembers your name and what you like if you're a frequent visitor. read more

DC is known for kabobs. Like when I moved here the first thing I noticed was the kabob places on every corner. These are by far some of the best, most flavorful kabobs in the city. I'm always on the look out for them at farragut. and now that I've written this.. I'm hungry. read more

Saw the truck hanging around in D.C. and stopped by. The Kabob is misleading because they don't actually serve kabobs its all gyro meat. With that said mix it the rice and its a good heavy lunch. read more

This is could be my #1 truck to choose but I usually skip them. What I like: -Chicken is good quality. -The gyro style lamb is good and can be had on it's own as or as combo with the chicken. -Their spinach is one of the best ones out there. Portion size is perfect as well. What is bad: -The rice. It is white rice with dill. Probably least favorite rice of any food truck and the reason why I avoid them. Update: The rice was recently changed, it is a bit yellowish now and no more dill. I'm not sure if is any better than before thou. I think the problem with it is that it is way overcooked. It is way too soft and mushy. This is a good food truck but given the rice is a good part of the meal and it just doesn't match the chicken or lamb, I always skip buying from them unless I have to. If trying them, make sure you're OK with the rice. Prices do not include tax so figure 10% more. read more

I have always liked Zesty Kabob. It usually isn't my first choice, but I think they are solid quality for a good price. They were at Cap South metro when I stopped in to get some food. With Pars Kabob as the competition, there was a clear winner as to choosing Zesty. When I arrived to the truck, the lady was having a casual conversation with two individuals outside the main window. I figured they were ordering, so I waited patiently. A few minutes had passed, and I was still waiting for the lady to take my order. Not wanting to interrupt, I kept patiently waiting behind them. After roughly 10 minutes go by, I finally decide I have had enough and walk away. It wasn't until this point that the woman finally acknowledged my presence and attempted to take my order. Needless to say, I did not order from Zesty Kabob that day. Maybe I'm overreacting, maybe I expect a little better service when it's 85 degrees and 80% humidity. read more

I typically eat anything and everything and not picky about food. I've ordered lamb kabob once and lamb wasn't great. It had odd taste and smell. I was like:"ok, maybe I had a bad day." So a few weeks later I go and try chicken kebab and something is not right with chicken as well. I feel like they use the cheapest and low quality meat to reduce cost and make more profit. I couldn't eat their meat because taste was strange both in both instances. You could feel they try to cover bad taste with lots of seasoning but it would lead to better result to use same seasoning on quality meat. P.S. I have to admit though their salad and side veggies are not too bad. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place at this point. Disappointed twice. read more

I always have leftovers for dinner, yum! 3) The food is indeed zesty, fresh and delicious. 4) Options! You can swap out sides for an extra serving of something else. They are very flexible with customisations. 5) Fast - Even during the lunch rush, you can have your food in about 5 minutes. read more

I ordered the lamb platter for $10 that came with rice, a side and salad. The lamb was tender and well spiced and not at all dry like some other kabobs I've had from food trucks. The rice was yellow and covered in an amazing sauce that was very savory. The nicest part was the selection of sides, usually there aren't that many choices. I had mushrooms which were roasted with rosemary and a side of salad which wasn't too impressive but a nice touch to make me feel like I'm eating healthy. The portion was very generous and can save the leftovers for a second lunch. Service was friendly and quick. read more

This was a new food truck in my area so I thought I'd give them a chance. I am very sorry I did. The guy was nice enough when I ordered, and asked me several times to repeat my order. He wrote the order down on a styrofoam container, which my food would be put into when finished. Then I stood aside and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, after 25 minutes I saw them load my container with food. it had my name on it. Then the guy sat it down on the inside ledge and walked out of the truck. I told the cook (who was still inside) that this was my container. He handed it to me and I walked away. When I got back to my office and opened it, the order was completely wrong. I'm not sure how it is possible to mess that up; the order was written RIGHT THERE on the container! They unhappily returned my money when I came back with the container. There was no way I was going to wait another 25 minutes for them to cook the correct order. I would stay away from these folks unless you have gobs and gobs of free time. read more

Their spicy lamb gyro sandwich is one of the better food truck gyro sandwiches. I'd give it a 4 relative to other food trucks.

I had the chicken platter, it tasted fresh, the flavors all put together just tasted wrong. I would not eat at this truck again. The food style is Mediterranean, the Tzakiki(mayo tasting) and chili sauce(Asian style) they put on to make it spicy just made the rice really wet and wasn't pleasant tasting. The chick peas tasted like they were cooked Spanish style. Overall not a good experience, they also gave me spinach instead of chick peas initially by accident. They were apologetic but the food overall just doesn't work. read more

I was very happy that zesty kabob had a stop at Friendship Heights yesterday! Walked down my office and having noticed them I went straight over to them since I've hear a lot about them from my co-workers working near the Farragut Square. I am very happy I did, I have tried many food trucks before but none was too appealing to me until I came across Zesty! I ordered the Lam & Chicken combo and I have to say, the best chicken kabob I have ever had in my life. The chicken was very juicy and very well marinated, it tasted just delicious. The lamb was also amazing and full of the taste just a bit on an oily side which was expected especially compared to the breast of chicken. The salad that came on the side was actually a very nice and crisp iceberg lettuce salad with fresh olives and a high-end parmesan cheese which was greatly prepared, surprisingly out of a food truck. The platter is served with a side salad, a great tasting chickpeas and wonderfully seasoned sauté of fresh Spinach also a bed of wonderfully tasting rice with some dill. Oh and did I not mention the sauce?!! The wonderful Zesty sauce they put over their meat is absolutely delicious and it's really hard to guess the ingredients but I would definitely say some mayo, hot sauce and dill but an absolute must just really really Yummy and mouth watering This food was big enough for me to also have it for lunch today as well so you are definitely getting your $$$ worth. I would definitely stop by Zesty again anytime I see them. I mean It's a food truck and what more could you expect or ask for. They are just wonderful, specially their staff's nice & welcoming attitude would makes your experience an even a better one. Thank you zesty for a very pleasant and delicious experience read more
