If you tell me all the Starbuckses are the same, that's like saying all McDonald's locations are…read morethe same. And if your reply is you'd never go to a chain, there's probably not much more to discuss. I've quipped that I can't make an autobiographical movie because Todd Solondz would sue me for plagiarism but part of my founding narrative was an overly simplistic take on cities vs. rural areas. If Twitter existed when I was 14 my account would have been the most vitriolic assortment of anti-NYC videos. (California tumbles into the sea, that'll be the day I go back to Fresh Meadows). After years of Mellencamp-fueled thoughts of farms and trees, I actually got to spend some time in the country and eventually realized I'm more of a faux-rural type. For example: I like the hiking trails and dark skies in New Paltz but I'm glad you can get there by bus or buy a coffee at 2AM. In recent years I've been on a Mystic kick. I like the crickets, stars and unexpected animals (well, not that fox that seemed weirdly unafraid of human contact). But I'm also glad that iced Americanos are a short walk away. The beverages have been perfect and the service has been friendly every time. I certainly appreciate the existence of the outdoor seating even if I didn't choose it on this late-September excursion. Just like my local JC branch, the Yelp rating here is out-of-whack. As baristas are drawn into dumb political sagas and forced to comply with more corporate rules, I appreciate their hard work.

They have shaded seating if you'd like to sit out of the sun. I got an iced latte, but instead they called my name with a hot latte. I would have taken it, but on a particularly warm day, and sitting on the outdoor patio an iced latte was what I wanted. They remade it iced for me. I felt a bit guilty asking for a new one, because the hot one was probably fine. They apologized for the confusion. I sat outside and enjoyed.

So ticked off right now I haven't even finished pulling into my driveway. (This is the only place…read morearound for coffee I don't even know how many stars to give it, I'm ticked off that I have to review it at all...) Whoever the manager is working currently as of this moment, as of 815 this morning, is the most unprofessional, power tripping, inappropriate patronizing loser!!! I was exchanging niceties with the girl at the window, as she handed me my coffee and my bag of food; the manager plowed through her - yelled "no talking!", looked at me and said "no talking that's why I work this window, so that we get things done", and I was like "no talking huh? OK then. I'm the customer..." And he gave me the nastiest look. Let me check your status bro, YOU DONT GET TO TELL ME WHEN TO TALK. Frankly, speaking to your employees that way, I'm surprised if anyone has a smidge of respect for you. Wipe the look off your face, relearn customer service, and maybe people will respond positively. Acting like you think you're running a ship is hilarious. Go join the military if you want to be a drill sergeant. Thanks so much for the morning coffee nice girl at the window, hope you have a lovely day.

Never again will I visit the Preston Dunkin' Donuts location…read more I stopped in after work to order a refresher. There were five employees working, no customers in the store, and no cars in the drive-thru. Despite that, no one greeted me. I even said hello twice and was completely ignored. When someone finally took my order, the register had an issue and the manager came over to fix it for over 5 minutes! I stood there for over five minutes while she worked on it. During that time, I never received an apology, explanation, or even a simple greeting. What made it even more frustrating was that with five employees standing around and an empty store, no one could even start making my drink. The woman working near the sandwich station also appeared unkempt and unprofessional, which only added to the poor impression. After waiting long enough, I told them I had changed my mind and was leaving. The manager simply smiled and said, "You don't want anything? I just fixed it." This was one of the most unprofessional customer service experiences I've had. I won't be returning.

I've eaten here many times and have always had great experiences overall. However, during my most recent visit, I was a little disappointed. I felt misled about a few upcharges that weren't clearly explained when I ordered. I asked for an omelet, and when the server asked what kind of cheese I wanted, I assumed it was included but later found out it was an extra charge. I also asked to add avocado, which I expected to cost extra, but I didn't realize it would be nine dollars and actually come as guacamole with tomatoes, I did not ask for or want tomatoes and was not told they would be there. Good thing I do not have an allergy. The food was plenty and tasted good despite the tomatoes. I took half homebecuse I was full. The decor is beautiful and the service was friendly and attentive, so I didn't want to make a fuss at the time. I will definitely still come back, especially for the cheesecake, but I do hope they are a little clearer about add-on pricing in the future.

The $5 cupcakes might be the next best deal, but the one I tried wasn't that good. It looked delicious but it didn't really live up to the hype. I've yet to try the cheesecake because I find it hard to believe that a $9 slice of cheesecake is worthwhile. But I'm sure I'll try it at some point.
