Even though she used to race road and mountain bikes at the national level, she was nervous about bringing it in because, unfortunately, since she's an older woman, she often gets dismissed and treated with condescension by bike shop mechanics. As a result, she asked me to accompany her since, in addition to also having raced many years, I used to be a bike shop mechanic myself. The way we were treated by the head mechanic (I'm guessing that's who he was) was shockingly bad. He acted like we were two kooks coming in with a rusted-out Walmart bike and refused to answer even the most basic questions. Fortunately, someone else working there saw how poorly we were being treated, spent a couple minutes with us, and diagnosed the problem (which I was able to fix later) - hence the 2 stars instead of 1. I've always shopped at ABS, despite the relatively high prices, because I think it's important to support local bike shops; however, after this experience, it will no longer be a priority.

I wanna make a buyer‑beware alert about Subaru Solterra (same platform as the Toyota bZ4X)…read more In a little over a year and under 13,000 miles, my Solterra has repeatedly failed to start because of a dead 12‑volt battery, even when the main traction battery was mostly full. Each time the 12 V drops, the car lights up with "system stopped," brake and ABS errors, parking brake unavailable, and other random faults, and then simply refuses to go into drive. I've now been stranded at least 7 times in a year. I've followed Subaru's instructions after jump‑starting: leave the car on for an hour to let it recharge the 12 V. Despite that, the problem keeps coming back. I don't leave high‑draw accessories plugged in, and this started very early in the car's life. At around 10,000 miles I reported the problem to Subaru during scheduled service, so there is a documented history. I've since learned that this is not an isolated fluke: Law firms and owners are pursuing class‑action cases alleging that Subaru Solterra and Toyota bZ4X models have a defective 12‑volt system that lets the small auxiliary battery drain and die prematurely, leaving drivers stranded even with plenty of charge in the main pack. The lawsuits claim Subaru and Toyota knew about these issues but failed to warn buyers or provide a lasting fix, and that some owners have gone through multiple dead 12 V batteries in just a few thousand miles. forums and groups are full of similar stories: brand‑new Solterras and bZ4Xs with repeated 12‑volt failures, dealers blaming accessories or user behavior, and people being told to just keep jump‑starting and driving I bought this car specifically to have a reliable, winter‑capable vehicle in the Tahoe area, and instead I'm carrying a jump pack and now a solar battery tender just to feel semi‑confident it will wake up. Meanwhile, my 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse with almost 90,000 miles has been more dependable than this brand‑new EV. If you're considering a Subaru Solterra or Toyota bZ4X, Stop. please research the 12‑volt battery issue and the ongoing lawsuits before you sign anything. If you already own one and are having similar problems, I'm actively looking for other owners, forums, and legal efforts to join so we can push Subaru and Toyota to take this seriously and provide a real fix or buyback. If you want details on what I've seen, what codes and errors show up, or how to document incidents for lemon‑law purposes in California, feel free to message me.

This place along with the CEO of Farmers (and every other car insurance company that exists)…read moredeserve Capitol Punishment for the unconscionable acts they commit on a daily basis to people who bring their cars in for service in good faith not knowing that these people (almost if not every car repair shop) and your car insurance company are preparing to grind your bones to make their bread. without an ounce of remorse. For those who don't know Santa Cruz Autobody/ Jerry Graham Autobody (notice the name change and we all know why they had to do that) is in bed with your car insurance company. For example, (using my own experience) they will tell you their cost of service for something is $200 over the phone and then will charge your insurance company in their invoice (for you and all parties to see) $400 for that exact service in writing via the invoice to your insurance. This is only 1 of several examples of this as $400 is nothing in compared to a $5,000 "cost of repair estimate" that became $10,000 to my insurance company via their cost of repair document sent to them and uploaded online for all to see. They will inflate their prices with your insurance company so much that your insurance will easily be able to label your vehicle as "a total loss" using the calculation of the salvage and value amount of your vehicle inspected by Carlos at Jerry Graham Auto body. He is responsible for coming up with what he deems the cost of repair is and what he deems the value of your vehicle is to your insurance company. Despite having minimal frontal damage to your vehicle he dismember and dismantle your entire car and tell you to pay for it (over my dead body). Hopefully the wheels are turning in your head at this point. Using the formula of salvage value and vehicle value in comparison to how much this place wants ti charge your insurance company for the cost of repair your insurance will easily be able to meet the threshold of declaring your vehicle a discretionary total loss. Oh and then try and charge you to put the vehicle back together (not sure why you'd have to take the entire car apart if damage is limited to the front bumper alone) (PART OF THE SCAM). All in all these people, along with insurance companies are . Especially Carlos. His main motivation (if using car insurance) is to A) spin up a fucking fable an upcharge your insurance so much that will end up being the cost of the car itself and your insurance will just email a total loss and Carlos is not smart enough to play the game to keep it under the amount so guess what you lose selling my car in my car parts to people and you lose the astronomical amount of money you would've gotten anyways from the insurance vompa He will offer you no legitimate answers as to what you're being charged for per his invoice and "evaluation". And he will try and charge you so much that insurance considers your vehicle a total loss for minor damage to your front bumper that is a maximum of $2,000 to fix (for a rate of $10,000). Will try and charge your insurance company a wage of $117 an hour so you just end up repairing your car elsewhere independently without insurance.
