From the get go, Alan was really easy to work with in terms of scheduling. His online system works really well. Alan was punctual and arrived on time for the driving lessons. The car was in excellent condition and the instructions provided by Alan were clear and straightforward. I would highly recommend Alan for these lessons.

He is probably the best instructor in the Bay Area, and he will get you confidently driving in no time! I did 9 lessons with Alan over a period of 1 month, and he took me from being not very confident (after trying out three lessons a different instructor) to passing my test and driving well on the freeway! This was done with zero practice in between lessons. Alan is extremely professional, is always on time, and delivers same day feedback. He also tailors his teaching style to the student's learning style, and is keen on understanding his students' thought process if mistakes are made, so they can be properly fixed. For every single weakness I had in my driving, Alan had a strategy to fix it - this included fixing my turning speed, correctly using my mirrors, lane positioning and keeping the wheel straight. He is adept at observing to see exactly what the student is doing wrong and coming up with a formula to correct it. Additionally, he is extremely professional. He was always punctual and polite, never raised his voice and never did anything that diminished my confidence in any way as a student who was initially struggling. I have always had some anxiety about driving, but I actually looked forward to my lessons because I started to enjoy driving as I could feel myself improving. On the day of the lesson, he made sure that I was confident and encouraged me not to feel anxious, and I was happy to pass on my first try. Scheduling is also easy on the website, and the response rate is fast. If you need to learn how to drive, you can't go wrong with Alan at Perfect Score!

I hope this helps someone else. Mr. Hui, if you're reading this, please reconsider how you handle first-time students during lessons. At one point, you buried your face in your hands, sighed loudly, and became visibly frustrated when I tried to explain that I was struggling to understand your English. This wasn't a personal attack--it was my reality because, on the road, with information overload, I really can't comprehend and react to your instruction. That is really dangerous. Mr. Hui, I can see how you can be great, because you did push me to literally drive through Palo Alto's busy area on a Saturday afternoon, 40 miles an hour (35 miles an hour speed limit though!) when I can barely tell break from gas. To me, it felt like achieving mission impossible! But I'm not looking to accomplish mission impossible or rush to get my driver's license. I want to learn in a constructive, supportive environment. I even made a point to explain to you I'm not looking to save money and can take as many lessons as needed. When I explained that I had real trouble understanding you because you say "line" and "nine" exactly the same, I didn't expect you to change, but I just hoped for some kindness and patience if I don't immediately perform OK. Instead, your reactions--"Ai-ya! You say nervous nervous nervous as an excuse to not listen to the instructor," or "You are scary, you are scary, you are scary, and you don't do xyz" (he meant "scared," and yes, this sentence doesn't even make sense), or "You are lawyer or accountant, you think you know everything" (when answering his question about yellow line)--were discouraging, unhelpful, unkind. Today, I felt like a real danger to anyone on the road in Menlo Park as someone who had held a steering wheel for the first time in her life for just 20 minutes. I strongly believe that learner cars should be clearly marked, but unfortunately, Mr. Hui's car was not, which only added to my anxiety. I've decided to continue my lessons with a larger, more professional driving school that uses marked learner cars. When I politely informed Mr. Hui of my decision and requested a certificate for JUST TWO HOURS of training I had completed, he texted, "No certificate to you!!" In conclusion, while Mr. Hui is not at all "a horrible person", his unprofessionalism as an instructor stems from his inability to understand and accommodate the need of students, particularly in terms of communication in English and managing nervous beginners.

Again, i underestimated that summer is a busy time, I could not find any time to finish the rest before my kid's test next week. So i had to go to an individual instructor. Advantage had no issue to send a letter for the one lesson completed by them. We purchased a 6-hour lesson package for our child and called to schedule the first lesson. The appointment was confirmed with a specific date and time. Simple enough--or so we thought. On the day of the lesson, the scheduled time came and went. After waiting 30 minutes with no instructor and no communication, I called the office. They had no idea where the instructor was and told me they would call to find out. Fifteen minutes passed without a callback, so I called them again. That's when they casually told me, "Oh, the instructor wasn't feeling well and decided to go home." Seriously? Not a single person thought to call us before the lesson to let us know the instructor wasn't coming. Instead, they were perfectly content to let us sit there waiting indefinitely until *we* called them. And after supposedly contacting the instructor, they still couldn't be bothered to call us back. We had to chase them down a second time just to learn what had happened. The most disappointing part was how they handled the situation afterward. There was a meek apology, no attempt to find another instructor, no effort to accommodate us, and no ownership of their mistake. We were simply told that they're busy and the next available lesson would be in three weeks. And oh yea, they also said, it's busy everywhere so that's that....now do you want a refund or what? In other words: **their scheduling failure became our problem.** At that point, I requested a refund. Hopefully, processing that is more organized than scheduling a lesson. If this is how the front office handles something as basic as communicating a cancellation, I'd be very hesitant to trust them with anything more important. Customer service isn't just about being polite--it's about respecting your customers' time. Unfortunately, that seems to be completely missing here.
