Alan is an amazing instructor, and I can't recommend him highly enough for anyone who needs to learn how to drive. He is probably the best instructor in the Bay Area, and he will get you confidently driving in no time! I did 9 lessons with Alan over a period of 1 month, and he took me from being not very confident (after trying out three lessons a different instructor) to passing my test and driving well on the freeway! This was done with zero practice in between lessons. Alan is extremely professional, is always on time, and delivers same day feedback. He also tailors his teaching style to the student's learning style, and is keen on understanding his students' thought process if mistakes are made, so they can be properly fixed. For every single weakness I had in my driving, Alan had a strategy to fix it - this included fixing my turning speed, correctly using my mirrors, lane positioning and keeping the wheel straight. He is adept at observing to see exactly what the student is doing wrong and coming up with a formula to correct it. Additionally, he is extremely professional. He was always punctual and polite, never raised his voice and never did anything that diminished my confidence in any way as a student who was initially struggling. I have always had some anxiety about driving, but I actually looked forward to my lessons because I started to enjoy driving as I could feel myself improving. On the day of the lesson, he made sure that I was confident and encouraged me not to feel anxious, and I was happy to pass on my first try. This review is belated, but is much needed. I took a few lessons with Alan at the end of 2022 after a bad experience with a previous instructor from a different school (also in Sunnyvale). Alan is worth the higher price tag, as he is incredibly patient and kind. You need an instructor who understands how stressful it is to be in the driver's seat when you are completely inexperienced and may have anxiety about driving in general. Just for this alone, I am giving Alan a 5-star review. He is also one of the few instructors to provide very extensive feedback and areas of improvement by sending out emails with his comments after *every* lesson. After failing my first behind-the-wheel DMV test, Alan helped me practice areas where I had failed and gave me tips on how to stay calm during the next iteration, and I eventually passed on the 2nd try. His rental car at the time was also easy to drive, so I recommend renting out his chaperone services on test day, especially if you don't have a car to do the test with. read more

He was patient, listened to our needs, took the time to explain things calmly with immediate feedback and after session feedback. Not all instructors provide the after recap which is really helpful to the parent. Our son felt he added value during the lesson and helped him become less anxious. Alan Wong, if I remember the name correctly. Took lessons with him around 3 months back. Great teacher. Tried to cover up as much as possible from the DMV book while teaching. Explains many fine points about driving and general rules to follow on the road. I had previous experience learning driving basics outside USA but had not had much experience. Also, was my first time driving in USA. I searched around the whole South Bay. I bought a 6 hour package for my niece for an early birthday present. Alan is an amazing instructor. I went from not knowing how to drive at all to getting my license in the first go. A very large part of the credit goes to the lessons I took from him. He is very organized, very *patient* and overall a great instructor that points out all the important driving points.
