My son was 17 and we wanted him to get his drivers license sooner than later. Because he was under 17, he needed to get a "Certification of Completion of Behind-the wheel Training". Richard took my son out on three different trips: street, freeway, and drivers test. We received an assessment after each trip and we were able to take our son out and practice the items that Richard recommended he work on. Initially we started with another driving school, but after one disastrous lesson, we were quick to ask around for recommendations from friends. We were so fortunate to be able to work with Richard at Premier. He is very patient and knowledgeable and quickly put my kids at ease which made for a great learning experience. Richard was an absolutely amazing instructor - cannot be more thankful to him! I was a very nervous adult learner - never got a license during high school but finally decided I had to after moving to California. I didn't have access to a car to practice outside of lessons and also had gaps in lessons as a working adult so it wasn't the easiest. Richard helped me through it all, especially at the beginning when going above 7 mph in residential felt "too fast" to me. He was so patient and great in getting me grounded in the basics but also pushing me when he thought I was ready - his style worked really well for me to actually learn and build on my skills and I cannot recommend him enough to other nervous late learners. When I first started taking lessons (at another school), I wasn't sure if I would actually learn to drive or if I would give up since it was so nerve wracking but Richard got me through it and I passed the road test on my first try!!! read more

Late driver here; Richard was effective and patient in laying out the steps involved in not just passing a test once but also getting more comfortable in the mental decisions made when driving - important in a case where I would have little opportunity to practice outside the driving school lessons all the way up to the road test. Communications with the office for appointment changes as needed and opportunities for additional lessons to cover areas as required were also prompt. I got my license in October 2014, and while I was making use of their services, Richard was my instructor. He was a very patient and well-spoken teacher, and his methods were highly effective at picking up driving skills in the classes. I'd recommend learning from him if you have the option to! I'll admit, they were hard to get a hold of at first. I texted, no answer, I called twice and it rang out to voicemail but then I emailed and got prompt replies from Michelle from then on. After speaking to her it seems they are very busy this time of year. After a nightmare of a driving lesson with another company where I had no idea what my instructor was saying as his accent was so thick, I was apprehensive. I opted for the adult behind the wheel package, three 2 hour lessons. I had my first lesson today and it was night and day from my prior experience! Richard was a great instructor, really calm and relaxed but also attentive and paying a lot of attention to what I was doing. He explained things well with diagrams and gave me lots of constructive criticism, and took notes on what I had to improve on. I started learning to drive learning pretty late and was apprehensive about my abilities. My bad experience with other driving schools did not help either. Then someone pointed me here and I could not have found a better driving instructor. Richard is polite and supportive. He is very knowledgeable and knows what kind of teaching style works for different drivers. Richard knew exactly how many classes I would need to learn ( they give you a plan with dates based on your test date) and gave me great pointers through them which helped me get my license. I've been putting off attempting to drive for a long time (I'm almost 27) primarily because of my own anxiety. About six months before my permit expired (again) I reached out to Premier Driving School and they were able to schedule my first lesson. After an initial assessment with Richard we were able to set up a schedule for the next few months and I had the option to receive help setting up my driving test and have a practice lesson right before. The number of lessons we set up was perfect and I am so glad I decided to get the driving test set up through them as well since dealing with the DMV can be so stressful. Richard was an amazing instructor. He was always calm and made me feel at ease while driving. He gave good pointers and made sure we ran through all of the things that would be on the test. This was, again, so helpful. Even though I was so nervous going into the test I was able to pass on the first attempt. Both of our kids learned to drive through Premier Driving School and they were able to successfully pass their driver's license exams on the first try. Richard was the on the road instructor for both of them and he always gave us a clear and concise evaluation of the lesson and told us what they did well and what we should work on with them. He used a Toyota Corolla and a Prius both of which looked to be safe and in excellent condition. We called to set up the initial driving lessons and after that did everything by email, though Michelle called the kids and gave them 3-4 dates and times to pick from to schedule the next one. Honestly terrible customer service. I had an appointment and they called me to reschedule but on the day of my lesson no one was able to take me driving. I have called their phone number three times, with them calling back once with a message saying to call them back. Which my mom did; she left another message which wasn't returned. I just called them an hour ago and if they don't reply back I'm taking my business elsewhere; and guess what, no response. Unless you could get a hold of them by other means, like physically showing up at their office; find another driving school. read more

After a bad experience with Stanford Driving School which went bust in the midst of my son's training, Richard was a breath of fresh air. He was excellent to work with. My son enjoyed his instruction and did well in his DMV road test. I was hesitant to use an outside school to help my daughter learn to drive. I had taken driving lessons from Key Driver Training (now defunct) as a teen and did not have found memories. Scare movies like "Red Asphalt" and driving instructors that did not believe that I had never driven before (too many video games), and took me on the freeway for my fist drive... during rush hour! So trusting my daughter to strangers was very difficult for me. Michelle was very patient with me and understood my concerns, and Richard was outstanding behind the wheel! He was pragmatic in his education, making sure she understood all of the basics before moving on to more difficult skills. My only negative comment has to do with the State's mandate of so many hours of "classroom" time which equated to a frustrated home-schooled daughter who is used to demonstrating mastery and moving on, not being endlessly drilled. Again, that is not Premier's fault, it is our fault for letting our legislators equate mastery with number of hours in a "classroom". Her older brother had to wait until his 18th birthday to avoid all of this so I could teach him to drive myself. I have to say, Premier did a much better job. My daughter flew though the written test and the behind the wheel test. In fact the examiner was extremely please with her behind the wheel skills... my son, however, scared the examiner. Overall I am very happy with the experience (in spite of the negative above), and will be definitely using Premier when my younger children come of driving age. read more

As a parent, I am glad that my son signed up with Premier Driving to prepare him for the driving test. My son took his time with the online driver's ed portion...passed on the first try. Michelle was readily available via email...I found out email was better than calling the office. She was very helpful in scheduling and also explaining the whole process. For the driving portion, Richard was extremely patient and went out of his way to ensure that my son would pass the test. Richard documented and gave pointers for improvement as well as giving my son more confidence in driving. We paid for an extra session so he could be more comfortable with driving around the DMV area. It was totally worth it. She was able to schedule my daughters lessons spaced out perfectly to be able to test right on her birthday which was important to her. I got my license a year ago. I am an adult driver and never drove my entire adult life (I am from a country where you don't need to drive). So I was quite intimidated as to where to start. My spouse was very impatient in teaching me, so decided to invest in hiring a teacher. It was not cheap or sometimes easy to book Richard, but he was really excellent in giving me a well-structured, broken-down steps and amazingly I was able to learn how to drive slowly but steadily. (My lessons were spread over 7 or 8 months due to booking difficulty on both sides). Richard can communicate and guide you very calmly (which is crucial) and very clearly. He is very friendly and professional, and obviously have a talent in teaching. I failed the very first test for a silly mistake that could have been prevented with more practice. But after that Richard gave me extra lesson and assistance, so I passed on the second try. Today I am driving to work everyday and I am confident in driving far distance across the Bay. For the sake of safety and my confidence, I think it was a very good investment worthy of money. read more

My daughter and I had a great experience with Premier Driving School. We called to set up driving lessons and Michelle was on top of things. She was very friendly and helpful. Andrea was very helpful and anwered all our questions initially. She explained the 3 lesson plans and timeline. I set the first lesson with Richard and he arrived on time and was very helpful.
