Finally got to try this place out and had a pleasant time! It's tucked away in Collingswood and has its own little alley for parking. My friend and I did the 4 course pre fixe, we got the meatballs with polenta, shrimp + beans, clam pasta, gnocchi, rib eye and fisherman stew. The meatballs with polenta was delicious! The polenta was tasty and cooked perfectly. The shrimp was OK, it was very fishy and left a bad taste in my mouth but the beans were yummy. The clam pasta was probably my favorite! I need 3 more of those please. The gnocchi was delish but definitely a heavier dish for those that like a rich and creamy dish. The rib eye was yummy but a little bit chewy but the tomato salad that came with it was top notch. Fisherman stew was yummy but would have liked my broth to be a tad more flavorful! We've experienced Zeppoli twice: once as takeout a few years ago, and once dining in recently. The takeout we had was absolutely delicious. Delicate pastas, balanced flavors. Good enough being devoured in our own home that we definitely understood why this spot was hyped by so many people we knew. Unfortunately, when we dined in, the food was such a departure from that previous experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sure, the service was good, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere is something that would work for both a special date night or a casual night out with friends[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but the food was too underwhelming to ignore. The gnocchi, which I remembered being light and puffy in the past, were so incredibly rich, dense, and cheesy. The richness of the brown butter the gnocchi were resting on was over the top. The dish was just way too heavy to enjoy. I've never wanted an acidic wine more to cut through. We had the same issue with the Tagliatelli al Limone. So incredibly oily. Surrounding the main courses, the appetizers and desserts were the actual highlights. Their bread is wonderful and the Panzanella Catania was really nice. Their gelato is really good, and their cannoli are worth ordering, as well. It's just a shame that the pasta dishes-the thing we were most looking forward to-ended up being so disappointing. So, ultimately, we're batting .500 with Zeppoli. We will likely return, and I'm optimistic that our next visit will hit the spot a little more. Can so many people be wrong? I doubt it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This small, dimly lit, cozy Italian establishment is the perfect intimate setting for date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came for the name, and the Zeppoli's were fantastic -- perfectly lightly fried dusted with sugar and melt in your mouth delectability. However we did not expect to have some of the best, most authentic gnocchis I've had. These large plump pillows were flufffy perfection, spinach and herbs embedded into the dough. An evening at Zeppoli's never disappoints! Appetizers were a fantastic start to a delicious, tasty, perfectly curated meal last evening.  We started off with whole shrimp sautéed in garlic, parsley, lemon, and chili, along with cannellini beans, bringing a perfectly balanced amount of spicy, velvety flavor to complement the shrimp.  The Grilled Octopus special was cooked to perfection, fork-tender, silky, and succulent.  Moving onto the pasta, the Pesto Trapanese has a vibrant, nutty pesto sauce w/fresh pasta that brings a bright & bursting flavor through and through with each bite.  The Gnocculi alla' Argentiera has a delicate texture that melts in one's mouth in the heavenly sauce.  The pasta special was the Pappardelle Pasta w/Short Rib & Volcanic Tomatoes in Bolognese Sauce.  The house-made Pappardelle pasta was rolled into wide strands, offering a tender, silky texture with just the right bite.  The short ribs and tomatoes brought bold, succulent flavor to the bolognese sauce.  Moving to the entrees never disappoints when visiting Zeppoli's.  My daughter ordered her favorite meal, the Pesce Spada alla Griglia.  The swordfish was beautifully seared and crusted, giving way to a moist, delicate, light, pearl-white, tender, flaky fish, emphasizing the mild, savory & citrus flavors, paired with delicious seasoned and sweet fennel and oranges, bringing the perfect partnership to this dish. The Scallops were on top of a bed of mildly seasoned lemon Risotto, mixed with Pancetta, which had me speechless.  The scallops were flawlessly cleaned and prepared, with a beautiful, seared, caramelized crusted, golden-brown presentation. The lemon reduction added richness to the soft, silky Risotto, enriching the dish with a savory texture from the Pancetta.  Mouth-watering with so much flavor.  We did get the Zeppoli Siciliano and Cherry Sorbetti that we were not able to get pictures with us being so full.  I want to thank Chef Blake, Taylor, Arturo, Nick, Jackie, Dan, and everyone at Zeppoli's for another brilliant meal! Very much enjoyed our early, Sunday supper at Zeppoli. Our 4-top BYO'd some white wine and beer and decided to go with the "4 courses (salad/appetizer, pasta side, meat/fish entree, dessert) for $75.00" so we could taste/share as many dishes as possible. The complimentary bread basket with dish of olives/olive oil was everything: came with three types of bread: (1) one of the best tomato pies I've ever had, (2) a fluffy focaccia, and (3) a dense olive-oily bread. All together, we tried the: Salad/appetizers: - Gamberetti e Fagioli (whole shrimp sauteed with garlic, parsley, lemon, chili, served over cannellini beans) - Panzanella Catania (tomato and bread salad with capers, Sicilian white anchovies)--highly recommend this dish, so flavorful! - Finocchi Salsiccia (housemade fennel sausage, broccoli rabe)--delicious, if slightly salty. - Special: Burrata--wished it had a little more salt. I've been dying to try this place for a long time and while [[HIGHLIGHT]]the dining room could use some upgrades[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], the food was fantastic. Special mussels app was one of the best mussels and gravy that I've ever had. I needed to ask for a second bread basked to make sure I sopped up every bit of it. The pasta I ordered was the lemon tagliatelle with prosciutto was unique and delicious. The meal ended with a fabulous lemon tart. This was a byob so paired with our amazing wine, the meal was a home run. As far as some of the other recent reviews, there are some up charges that aren't always made clear by the servers but there is nothing nefarious going on. I will most definitely go back. read more

Zeppoli had been on our list to try for several years. It is not easy to get a reservation because of the great reviews. Zeppoli constantly shows up as one of top Italian restaurants in the South Jersey and Philadelphia areas. The space is small but has ample parking behind the restaurant. Zeppoli is located in West Collingswood and not in the downtown area on Haddon Ave. It is across the street from La Beiruit. The inside is small and charming but loud as to be expected. The service and food was very good. It definitely lived up to expectations and the hype. The squid ink pasta was probably the best we have ever had. Everything was delicious, flavorful and excellent. The only problem or problems we had was when checking the menu on Zeppoli's web page there was a prix fixe and a la carte option and prices listed for both options. However, upon arrival on a Sunday night we were told only the prix fixe options were available. Not a big deal, but this could have been clarified on the web site. Appetizer, pasta and dessert is $45.00 and appetizer, main and dessert is $55.00. Add $10 for the steak. Not inexpensive but not outrageous for the quality of food. If you want additional bread it is an extra $5.00. This is worth it as the bread was home made and delicious. 4.5 Yelp stars for Zeppoli and we would definitely go back. read more

Prime time dinner slots were hard to come by, but I managed to snag my husband and I a 6:30pm reservation for Sunday dinner. Going into dinner, I had high hopes for Zeppoli. Inside, it was casual but intimate. There were about 11 tables. For dinner, Zeppoli offers a 3-course dinner for $55, or if you're hungry, a 4-course dinner for $75. We saw people around us who ordered the 4-course dinner, and their entrée courses were massive. Ribeye steaks, whole fish, half roasted chicken, etc -- the 4-course dinner truly is a great deal. We decided to go with the 3-course dinner anyway. For our first course, I had the Whole Shrimp sauteed with garlic, while my husband had the Tomato and bread salad with capers and Sicilian white anchovies. Salad was pretty good, but the whole shrimp was amazing. You have to get that. After the whole shrimp, everything started to go downhill. For our pastas, my husband and I both had the same pasta course -- the Tagliatelli al Limone topped with Sicilian bottarga, a salted cured fish roe. The dish itself would have been perfect if not for the excess lemon juice. The pasta was way too sour to enjoy. For dessert, I had the chocolate cake, and my husband had the Zeppoli Siciliano. The Zeppoli Siciliano were two perfect zeppolis sitting on top of Nutella spread and was good. The chocolate cake was disappointing. It was like a poorly made brownie with cream on top. Super disappointing dinner. I waited a long time to return after a 5 star experience at Zeppoli about 3 years ago. This version bared little resemblance to our last experience. First course, the Insulata Verde was a green salad. Nothing more, nothing less. The Panzanella Cantania was chunks of bread soaked with vinegar and hunks of tomato. Ok. The Gambertti e Fagioli was disappointing in that the head on shrimp were small and of questionable quality. The beans were ok. I make this better at home. The sausage and broccoli rabe was inedible as a dish. The rabe was so over salted we ate the sausage separately. Pasta, the Tagliatelle a Limone was like pasta in lemon curd. One note, lemon. I took one bite. Pesto Trapanese was home pasta in pesto. Good. Gnoculli is really a nudi not a gnocchi. It's a ricotta and spinach dumpling in brown butter. My wife makes them beautifully. Zepolli's were gummy. The roasted chicken was roasted chicken, nothing special. The rib eye steak was thin, overcooked, seared briefly on one side, pale on the other. It went back. The desserts were all good, zepolle, chocolate almond torte, pannacotta, and cannoli. The service was excellent, though we waited until 8 with a 7:30 reservation. The food was overall underwhelming. Few dishes were elevated, most just ok, some inedible. At this price point I expect much higher quality food and execution. I spent $350 for a roasted chicken and 4 desserts. Went there for my sons birthday. I must say i was not impressed. Pasta was full of oil, appetizer was on par. But my daughter in law ordered a steak. The cut looked liked something from a diner. Also when asked for extra bread we were told it was an upcharge as were other entrees. My friends live in Collingswood and love Zeppoli, so we decided to go while visiting them. Amazing! I have nothing bad to say about this place. Know it is very small inside. I think they can only accommodate 35 people, so a reservation is a must. We sat outside where they have a few patio tables/umbrellas. It is byob & the staff will make sure you have buckets of ice for your wine. If you have 6 people or more, you can't order from the menu but instead, do a chiefs tasting for a set price. They asked if anyone had any food allergies. You have no idea what will come out to the table, but do not fear! This did not disappoint! We love everything we had and it was definitely worth the money. I am looking forward to going back to zeppoli next time i am in town! read more

With so many restaurants in the world, it's rare I like something enough to order twice, but as my pictures (two orders of almost all the same stuff) suggest, I like Zeppoli enough. For take-out, the complimentary bread/olive oil are actually worth eating and as far as the pastas go: - My partner loved the pesto trapanese, although I would pass. - Usually I'm a hard no on tomato-based pastas, but the rigatoni is mind-blowingly seasoned. - The tagliatelli was just wow. Truthfully, I'd never had a lemon pasta before, but it's right up there with cacio e pepe for me now. The only thing we didn't order twice was the gnocchi, which wasn't special compared to everything else. For the area, this is probably a very nice night out. In general, was a skosh underwhelmed. Started the night with the fennel sausage, which everyone around us got. The flavoring I enjoyed but maybe a bit salty. We also got the gamberetti e fagioli, which are whole seasoned prawns with beans. I appreciated that they were peeled shrimp but the flavoring for me wasn't there. You choose $65 pasta or meat 3 course of 4 course with both for $75. So we did pasta next. Taliatelli al limone with prosciutto was too lemony/citrusy. The gnocchi was shocking, as you'll see in the pictures. Highlight of the night in the browned butter but not sure it's gnocchi? Went for the ribeye for $10 extra, the seasoning was nice but overall a fine steak. The fisherman's stew was a nice combo of seafood and is essentially a cioppino. Whole meal came with excellent bread and olive oil. BYOB which uncomplicated things from that respect. The tables were very close together which at first was worrisome but wasn't so difficult in the end. Oh and the dessert. Probably all of them are fine. The cannoli wasn't as much typical cannoli cream as I wanted. Overall glad I went but I wouldn't recommend to anyone traveling from Pennsylvania unless they're coming from NJ. read more

We did the four course meal, which meant we could pick an appetizer, pasta dish, entree dish and dessert. Our favorite dishes included the pesto pasta dish, the ribeye entree dish and the zeppoli for dessert. They also only had limited seating with about half of their tables empty. I ordered the fennel sausage with broccoli rabe, it didn't tasting like anything special. The housemade pasta with lemon was very lemony, but more of an artificial lemon flavor to me; I was not a fan. My boyfriend had the spinach gnocchi which tasted good; it is served on top of browned butter. For the entree I had the half roasted chicken, which was very dry. I'll start with the price. 4 people, no alcohol, was over $450. And they charge extra for more bread. The force you to the fixed price menu. A salad, 4 gnocchi and 2 zeppolli's were $75. Yes, exactly 4 gnocchi was the meal. Ambiance: zero. It's a dumpy little place. It's crowded and so loud that I woke up with a sore throat from yelling. And it was so cold that we wore our coats the entire time. Extremely unpleasant. Food: the food was good. But for that price I could get the fixed menu at Zahav, and get an actual full meal. My partner ordered a steak rare, they told us they recommended medium. And it came out med well. Service: not good, not bad. Waitress wasn't friendly or rude. Just indifferent. It was very slow, about 20 minutes between each course, which I generally don't mind. But this was a little slower than I prefer. Dinner was 2 hours, 15 min. Overall a good experience. Some components that I disliked others may favor. Super high expectations, a two week wait, and countless good recommendations may have made it a hard obstacle. Menu (sadly) was price fixed. Appetizer, pasta, dessert or appetizer, pasta, entree desert. 95% of the time I am going out I am not ordering pasta dinners or deserts, let alone for over $100 without tip. Wish this was disclosed up front, as it definitely felt like it jaded my experience. I don't want desert. Also- the menu doesn't describe the dessert (which has to be ordered up front when you order the appetizer and the Rest). Antipasto app has to be counted for two appetizers not one person because - they "can't split it " The good: bread was delicious, great crumb And a nice touch for the table, gnocchi, which was complimentary was delicious. Amaretto liquor was also great. Service was really good. Shrimp appetizer was good also. Fresh Rosemary in the beans is a great touch. The not as good (not to be confused with bad- nothing was bad) : the price fixed menu was extremely undesirable and really boxed in my options for trying stuff. Price fixed menu is rigid (which I guess was a covid thing but it's 2021 at this point and it's a full dining room..) and it l should be disclosed up front that for $100 your pasta won't have meat. If my main meal is pasta, at that price it better be the best in town by a mile because theres no shortage of Italian (yes I understand not Sicilian) competitors in town. Also the place is dark which I'm not a fan of (to each their own) Ordered the pesto- overall it was OK with some raw undercooked spots in the center (which I understand Because it's a hard pasta to cook) however when is the main course of my meal I felt was overall rather ordinary. Wife ordered Vongole. It was extremely salty and hard to finish. Not recommended honestly and was a major whiff. Desert- whatever. Zeppoli are whatever. Just fried dough. Nothing special imo but I get the appeal however after a plate of pasta I don't want another hunk of fried flour. I'm not a desert person. Overall my experience was good. I would say I'd go back under different circumstances but the prefixed menu is a major turnoff and I would say for a bill far north of $100, I expect a lot better. read more

This is one of the most acclaimed restaurants in the area and for good reason. Other reviews make it clear they didn't know what they were getting into - Zeppoli isn't a red sauce joint (of which there are many nearby), it's a restaurant with Sicilian leanings that is excellent. Every course was enjoyed by everyone and service was excellent. My only negative is the chairs are just too uncomfortable. I can deal with the darkness of the dining room and the tight quarters but it became more difficult to enjoy the experience due to the chairs. Please invest in something more comfortable. read more
