Saturday morning and they were packed with more people coming in. We have eaten there before and it was always good. This time the menu was much smaller with less choices making you think they could handle more people. Long story short we ordered but it took us over 30 minutes to get our breakfast and it was cold. Not really worth eating. Hope it wasn't just the crowd. And as always the waitresses were very nice and working hard as usual. read more

This place was dirty and people were rude. The server watched my handicap mother struggle to get out of the car and walk up the ramp just to tell us they closed at 2 pm. We started getting out of the car at 2:05pm. She could have easily told us they clef at 2 as she opened the door to let someone out. Very RUDE. read more

Went in hopin' for breakfast, but as usual, was a bit too late. Had trouble gettin' somebody to take our order, but once that was done, all was okay. Hubby ordered a special of the day, Chicken & Dumplings. I got the Chicken Bowl that had mashed potatoes, fried chicken, corn (they let me replace it with green beans!), and gravy. It was OH, so good! When I was done eatin', I looked over and it looked like hubby had licked his bowls clean. Oh, he did give me a little taste of his coleslaw which was tangy like we both like. Good food. Local place where strangers might not get served as quick as the regulars. Just sayin'. read more

When your in the middle of nowhere and the towns are 30 to 60 minutes away restaurant options get very limited so we wound up here. The menu says since 1947 so I had high hopes of an old school lunch spot. The place is in a one stop light town on the main drag next to a defunct gas station with the price board frozen in time with a reminder of how high gas was at one time. The menu has breakfast and lunch items, I will post pictures. They have Daily specials and I was going to get the club sandwich with ham when I heard the old man get the open face turkey plate, hmm that sounds good and I don't usually get them. Quickly thinking hand carved roasted turkey ?, I will have one also. Opened face turkey with mash potatoes and coleslaw was the deal. When the plate came my hand carved turkey was uniform sliced deli turkey shredded, not even the whole slices so my old school lunch plate was just average crap, no home cooked just commercial food, oh well. The mash potatoes were a whipped thick style but lacked the real potato flavor, fake mash potatoes. The coleslaw was probably store bought also but not bad. The sliced deli turkey not the processed roll crap but like the realer Sara Lee roast turkey so it at least had that going for it. The gravy was your bland can style to finish off the plate. Over all it's not home cooking but just commercial food so you know and with that being said it was not completely horrible and did the trick but home made would have made for a better lunch experience, I guess I thought down south would be more home style cooking. read more

Food is delicious, and the service is excellent and doesn't take long for the help to make you feel welcome.

Terrible service. Waited around 20 minutes waiting for someone to even bring a menu while many other families walked in, waiters walked passed us serving other families while we still sat waiting to even be asked what we wanted to drink. When finally being served we had cold food, there was hair on food, they gave someone else one of our plates so we had to wait another 20 minutes waiting for that plate without being told what happened to it at the time. Waiter was also very snappy and did not have a good attitude. Overall we will not be returning to this place. read more

I hadn't been here in a LONG time so was interest to stop while in town. We sat in the back room and there was a lot of microwave beeping heard. The waitress was nice enough. The hot buffet was not open. The salad bar consists of shredded lettuce, with more selection of dressing than items. An employee came to add sliced egg to the bar and said she had to get it stocked for tomorrow before she could leave. Uuummm, that created a lot if questions in my head. The roast beef had more water on the plate than grave. Mashed potatoes are not real. Dinner rolls were offered as we were finishing dinner. I wouldn't recommend it. read more

We are from Kansas City and were camping near the marina. After a day of biking, we decided to eat here. Our server was friendly and helpful explaining some of the specialty items on the menu. My daughter ordered catfish and fries, my son ordered the catfish in a bun (ummm...these kids NEVER had catfish before. My daughter only 'heard' it was good from her friends and my son just followed her lead). Hubby ordered the ranch Reuben; I got the chicken salad sandwich. All were super yummy! My daughter gave me some of her catfish and it was light and very tasty. Not too salty like many breaded filets. If you try this place, don't forget to order the tavern chips. When we visit again, I definitely want to eat there again. One regret: we never ordered desert. read more

Excellent small town diner. Had lunch there. Staff was super friendly. Portion sizes are great. Food was above average.

New to the area, wife and I decided to try this place out as it always seems to have a bunch of cars parked out front. We seated ourselves and it was a few minutes before a waitress came over to give us menus and get our drinks. Wife ordered a steak, medium and I decided to try the "French Dip" as its one of my favorites. I've has some really great ones and some really lackluster ones over the years and this one was definitely on the low end of the scale. The only thing that I could come up with was that they slapped leftover roast beef in a sandwich roll and called it a French Dip simply because they gave you a dish of beef stock to dip it in. Now, I'm not talking Au Jus, or even an onion/beef broth like some offer, it just tasted like drippings out of the bottom of the roast pan. Wife's steak was well done, not medium as she asked. We see no reason to return. read more

My husband and I are from the area and eat here often, mostly we do breakfast. They are always friendly and the service is quick! They have really good bisquits and gravy. The help here are always very friendly and accommodating. I know they are always setting up for a lunch buffet and it is always packed when I Drive by, one of these days I'll get in to try it out. read more

Depends on the day and who is working. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not. Sometimes you get a good waitress and sometimes and most the time you get a waitress that forgets your drinks or seems to hate the job. The owner is a hard working women always the and very friendly she will do anything she can ti make you happy. It'd the place to go if you want to hear all the town gossip out to find out stuff about yourself goi never knew. All in all it's a place to eat. read more

One of the best places to eat in town. For best results, order one of the specials or have the full buffet. The salad bar is always fresh if not extensive. The full buffet add entrees and desserts. I had a great first time visit to Piedmont, MO for the 2015 Ozark Heritage Festival. My friend and I drove nearly 3 hours from the greater St. Louis area Saturday, Oct. 17. He grew up in Piedmont and was excited to show me around. Having attended a family function or two at the Zephyr Restaurant, he had me geared up for a good lunch. Upon entering, we were neither greeted nor escorted to a table (not sure if that's normal practice?). There were only two tables near the breezy door vacant. My friend had requested to sit in the back party room near the buffet and was denied. I was a little dumbstruck, given there was a full house on what I imagine to be one of the busier days of the year here. We ended up sitting by the door, which thankfully didn't open too often. Our waitress promptly took our drink order and gave us a few minutes to overlook the menu. She was attentive the entire time. We both ordered the lunch buffet after she spoke highly of the sliced pork roast. What a disappointment that turned out to be! The pork was mouth watering in appearance, yet bland and tuff as leather- it was obviously cooked way too fast. My friend and I couldn't even finish it. We overheard another waitress receiving complaints from an elderly female about the same issue. My friend also commented to a waitress near the buffet. She offered to bring him some more from the kitchen, but he declined. Our waitress was overheard promoting it at least two more times while dining, so obviously customer complaints went ignored. On my second trip to the buffet, I decided to give the fried chicken and BBQ ribs a go. You can never go wrong with small town restaurant fried chicken. Zephyr's fried chicken was dry, chewy and very generic, so I guess you can. I suspect it was cooked upon opening and left in an oven until lunch. There is no other way "freshly" fried chicken would get that dried out! On a brighter note, the BBQ ribs were done just right. My compliments to the staff for keeping the buffet hot and full. The side dishes, salad bar and dessert were quite acceptable. If only more attention was given to properly cooking the entrees, our experience could have been so much better. A final side note is aimed at the less than friendly management. One person of seniority stood behind the counter adding up receipts the entire time. Meanwhile, the middle aged red head that denied us the seating in the back seemed care free- - a smile and walk around the floor wouldn't hurt. read more
