When your in the middle of nowhere and the towns are 30 to 60 minutes away restaurant options get very limited so we wound up here. The menu says since 1947 so I had high hopes of an old school lunch spot. The place is in a one stop light town on the main drag next to a defunct gas station with the price board frozen in time with a reminder of how high gas was at one time. The menu has breakfast and lunch items, I will post pictures. They have Daily specials and I was going to get the club sandwich with ham when I heard the old man get the open face turkey plate, hmm that sounds good and I don't usually get them. Quickly thinking hand carved roasted turkey ?, I will have one also. Opened face turkey with mash potatoes and coleslaw was the deal. When the plate came my hand carved turkey was uniform sliced deli turkey shredded, not even the whole slices so my old school lunch plate was just average crap, no home cooked just commercial food, oh well. The mash potatoes were a whipped thick style but lacked the real potato flavor, fake mash potatoes. The coleslaw was probably store bought also but not bad. The sliced deli turkey not the processed roll crap but like the realer Sara Lee roast turkey so it at least had that going for it. The gravy was your bland can style to finish off the plate. Over all it's not home cooking but just commercial food so you know and with that being said it was not completely horrible and did the trick but home made would have made for a better lunch experience, I guess I thought down south would be more home style cooking.

The food is amazing and a really good home feel to it. Only thing is that sometimes it gets really busy so you have yo wait just a little bit but it's completly worth it.

My son loved his catfish sandwich. He finished the whole thing!

They sell everything you'd need to use the lake...bait, groceries, supplies, food, propane... but, they're closed. Just adds to the shambles of the entire Piedmont lake community. All lodging ratings are concerning (also difficult to tell who is still in business or not), most restaurants were not open on a Saturday evening (Sonic and Tequilas Mexican Restaurant were hopping, though), signage to help get around the community and lake are 'iffy', at best, and it was a challenge to decipher what was a legit business from a shuttered business from a run-down storage shed. If UFOs did ever visit this area, I understand why they left so quickly.

The staff were friendly as usual and our server was really good and the place is clean as usual! The salmon patties were really good, I'd order them again. The food, overall, seems to be not well mixed with salt. My husband's chicken and dumplings had an inedible layer of just pure salt. He mixed everything up and it was better but the shock of a mouthful of salt lingered for the rest of the meal. The fried potatoes pass around had the same issue. This is still very much so a tourist destination and a once in a blue moon trip for us when we find ourselves in the area. The allure of the "throwed rolls" and pass arounds is enough to keep this place an option for us, especially since we're learning what not to order.

We had a King room that was roomy and comfortable with parking nearby. Great view of the Current River. Bed was comfortable and room location was pretty quiet, surprisingly. Only downsides were the A/C was noisy and the faux wood floors were being cleaned with some product that made them kinda sticky. We liked the Kuerig coffee maker in the room along with the nice size fridge. Check in experience was good too with friendly staff. We made reservations with a phone call and all went to expectation. Their restaurant onsite is The Blue Heron and it was good as well. Overall we had a good experience and will likely stay again.

For addicts, booze and pot close by. Cons: typical noisy blowy HVac wall units, no house phone in rooms, no luggage help, walk to Rose Cliff Lodge for ice, no cooking or fires allowed anywhere, max. 2-story walk ups depending on room (no elevators), pricey, noise from big rigs on Hwy 60 bridge (less noise in River Center), no house computer, no playground/River here a bit fast for younger kids to play in. The biggest problem with this otherwise quality property was (officially anyway) a "no cancellation/refund/credit" policy. They don't charge your card until you check in, so it is unclear how rigidly enforced this policy is (+ there's a $15 cancel fee per room/day). We got flooded out over July 2025 weekend (Park Service closes the river if it gets over 6 feet - follow this on NOAA website/river level Van Buren MO). We elected to stay regardless (kids are more flexible and inventive than adults!) The Landing is highly dependent on the weather and have a limited season, so they really can't insure your stay. Still, they should have an official credit option for a future stay credit. In Van Buren: "The" Mexican restaurant serves huge good portions. The steaks at the Landing's Blue Heron come out mooing - you may need to have them touched up. Best breakfast is at the Ranch House. No nightlife. In area: Big Spring is spectacular, floating is worth the price, but best in a canoe unless you like cold butt (there's an enormous cave upstream from Van Buren), little funky animal park is pricey but fun for kids. For floating, IMHO the best stretch of the Current is Aker's Ferry to Round Spring, and do it in drought after July 4 for clear water and to minimize deer flies and horse flies.

When you walk in, there is a waiting area in conjunction with having a drive-thru. The typical wait time is supposed to be 30 minutes, but I only had to wait for 4 minutes which was nice. The hostess took me to my table. As im approaching my table the floor felt greasy and there was crumbs and napkins I saw on the ground at various spots. I was greeted by a server and she introduced herself. Her name was Jaycee. I really appreciate her hospitality. She gave us some pickles which was so sweet and delicious. When ordering food, my spouse ordered the Catfish meal w/cucumber salad and okra. I ordered the Crabcakes with Coleslaw and Mac n cheese. My spouse loved the Catfish and the sides. I did try a piece of the Catfish and it was good for me too. When it came to my food, I thought it can be room for improvement. The Crabcakes were fried. They were a bit overcooked but, I still ate it with cocktail sauce. The coleslaw was advertised as "creamy", but instead it was watery. I did not finish this side item. The Mac n cheese noodles were a bit overcooked but the taste was there. I could not finish eating this side item either. I did purchase the Carrot Cake and I ATE EVERY LAST CRUMB.
