This place is fine to go to during the week day with family. The outside and inside of the establishment is a bit outdated. When you walk in, there is a waiting area in conjunction with having a drive-thru. The typical wait time is supposed to be 30 minutes, but I only had to wait for 4 minutes which was nice. The hostess took me to my table. As im approaching my table the floor felt greasy and there was crumbs and napkins I saw on the ground at various spots. I was greeted by a server and she introduced herself. Her name was Jaycee. I really appreciate her hospitality. She gave us some pickles which was so sweet and delicious. When ordering food, my spouse ordered the Catfish meal w/cucumber salad and okra. I ordered the Crabcakes with Coleslaw and Mac n cheese. My spouse loved the Catfish and the sides. I did try a piece of the Catfish and it was good for me too. When it came to my food, I thought it can be room for improvement. The Crabcakes were fried. They were a bit overcooked but, I still ate it with cocktail sauce. The coleslaw was advertised as "creamy", but instead it was watery. I did not finish this side item. The Mac n cheese noodles were a bit overcooked but the taste was there. I could not finish eating this side item either. I did purchase the Carrot Cake and I ATE EVERY LAST CRUMB. read more

I love good catfish. Problem is, it's hard to find. It's usually cold, rubbery, and/or poor in flavor. Well none of that applies to this place. This place was everything I was hoping. The locals said it was great and they weren't lying. The waitress was great and very attentive. The place was clean, which is hard to do with fried foods. It's definitely not vegan or pescatarian friendly, but the customer service was cool and welcoming. The food came out hot, flavorful, and with pleasantly generous portions. The drinks were huge and on the sweeter side, which some may enjoy. While it's not a place we'd necessarily go out of our way to return to, we also wouldn't recommend against it. Visited Catfish Kettle with my husband and his family. We were a large party of 14. We ordered the AYCE Fish, chicken and shrimp, and sides (mac n cheese, okra,baked beans, Coleslaw, potato wedges, cucumber salad,hush puppies,fried corn and green beans). The food was hot and fresh with plenty to go around, They serve Pepsi products, and server your drinks in big mason jars. Our server was nice and polite. I didn't catch her name. She brought out our food quickly and refilled drinks/food without having to ask. She deserved every tip she got from our party. There is plenty of seating for dining and chairs and benches in the general waiting area. There's ample parking outside. Catfish Kettle is a casual family country restaurant located at Farmington MO. Upon my visit for lunch on a Monday, it has been busy. Service is fast and attentive, though a short wait for a table is expected. The service deserves 3 stars, though the food unfortunately only worth 2 stars. This restaurant is meant to be for fried seafood. Regardless, all food is very oily / greasy. Free parking lot is available at the back of the restaurant. 'Traffic' within is quite busy especially the cars for most customers are huge. As usual, we consulted the waitress of favorites of the menu. Interestingly, she told us she does not like or eat fish which is supposed to be the highlight of this restaurant. As a waitress, she should be more well versed of the menu items. Ultimately, we ordered grilled cat fish and Cajun shrimp boil. - a side of raw onions and pickles are served. How does raw onions go with cooked seafood? - The Cajun shrimp boil was served with bacon in thick layers of oil. This is far from my expectations from traditional seafood boil. - The grilled cat fish was made with thick cut of farm cat fish. Met my son here...He loves this place. I got the crab legs and double green beans. They were probably some of the best green beans over ever had! The crab legs were delicious as well. I went on a girls day trip to Farmington Mo for lunch and shopping and decided on this place to eat. I'm so glad I did . Parking was congested but we found a spot and thank god we did. The ambience was small but more than enough seating. Old school picturesque and plenty of fish statues on the wall. The service was great. We had a speedy check in , speedy seating and the food came in the snap of a finger. No complaints at all. The waitress was present and catered to all of our needs. Food was delicious. Hot. I've heard about Catfish Kettle for a while but decided to give it a try on a week night in hopes of avoiding a crowd. I've heard weekends are insanely crowded. There was no wait around 6:30pm on a Wednesday. Ordered clam chowder,shrimp gumbo and crab cakes. Prices weren't bad at all and the chowder was rich and creamy. The gumbo wasn't spicy so a great pick for one who doesn't like spicy. The dinning area was clean and the staff was friendly. My next visit was on a Sunday afternoon. The wait wasn't unbearable and the food was worth it. The hush puppies are the best I've had. The catfish was fried to perfection. The fried chicken is just ok. Took about hour long ride to visit Catfish Kettle. Me & my family have been trying to get here for a while. We went during lunch and was able to get seated as soon as we came in. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. They have a menu full of different entries that you can select from or you can do the all you can eat option. The best deal is the all you can eat for $15.99. You are able to get fish, chicken' and popcorn shrimp along with choosing 5 sides from the menu. You can refill your order as many times as you like. My wife and I had supper here recently, after not being here in a while. The staff were friendly, and the food was good, as usual. We noticed the fish pieces were smaller than they used to be, and we missed the small plate of onions, pickles, etc. that used to come with every meal, but we sadly attributed this to cost-cutting measures. It's still a place we like, and we still recommend it to anyone wanting food like Catfish Kettle serves, especially fried fish and fried chicken strips. The fried catfish is so good, I jumped right in and ate it before I could take a photo! I've been going to Catfish Kettle since I was a kid, and it is one restaurant that I always have happy thoughts of and am jealous when I hear of family trips there without me! You have options on the menu for a variety of things, but let's face it. You come to a place called Catfish Kettle for one thing. The fried catfish. Mmmm. The best deal is the $11.99 (lunch) or $13.99 (dinner) all you can eat with choice of fried catfish, fried chicken tenders, and /or fried popcorn shrimp (pick any or all of the three). That plate of fried goodness also comes with the best hush puppies I've ever had. They're just a tad sweet - very crunchy outside and pillowy soft inside. And your choice of as many of the sides that you want. I love the pickled cucumbers, potato wedges, and green beans. You can also choose from baked beans, cole slaw, great white northern beans, applesauce, cottage cheese, fried okra, and country white gravy. It's all you can eat and served family style - so they just keep checking back to see if they need to replenish anything. They also have The. Best. Gosh. Darn. Homemade. Lemonade. Truly. I could drink it by the gallon. It comes in a big Mason jar, ice cold, sweet (but not too sweet) and tart (but not too tart). It's juusst riigghhtt. And they have my FAVE as an appetizer : fried mushrooms! I order these every time I'm there. They're hand and lightly battered, served hot, crispy, and juicy delicious! The catfish is great with a simple yet yummy yellow cornmeal coating. The fillets are at least the size of your entire hand, if not bigger. And they are always fried perfectly. My favorite thing about them is getting a crunchy bite and then a bite of big, white flakey fish. They are on the thinner side. So they aren't super fat, thick "chunks" of fish. They're like about an inch think, which is decent. The shrimp is ok. They used to have big shrimp (and you can still order a one off entree if butterfly), but the family style all you can eat are like popcorn shrimp. The chicken tenders are good sized and juicy. The breading is not too thick, and just right for a nice chunk of chicken. I will say that you will get a very healthy dose of salt with the fried family style meal. Ain't nobody skimping on seasoning in the kitchen. So, if sodium isn't your thing...well... skip the fried foods and order the baked tilapia with steamed veggies! And order up a cold Mason jar of water or that delicious lemonade! They have amazing pies after 4 pm - big, delicious, homemade pies. Today I was there before 4 pm. I am desolate. :( I guess I just have to go back again. :) The restaurant is homey, with a smaller town, down home vibe. There is fun fishing gear and stuffed fish on the walls. So don't expect linens on the table. It's plain chairs and a plain, sturdy table (to handle all the platters of food)! The wait staff are always friendly and provide great service. If you come often enough, they get to know the regulars by name (they loved my Nana when she would bring us there as a kid). The servers are very attentive and are sure to keep your plates and drinks full so that you leave with a satisfied belly full! The one drawback? Parking. First time here was on the 4th. It was a bit of a drive from where I live but when I say it was well worth it that's an understatement. Right as you walk in your greater by a savor aroma of fried fish almost like your back at your grandmother house after being outside all day just nostalgia. The place is fairly big with only one bathroom tho(double lock down because people don't knock) Now they do have a regular menu but we weren't there for that, what we wanted was the all you can eat fish. You did have a choice from chicken,fish or shrimp. With a group of 6 we opted for the fish and shrimp with a side of fried corn, white beans and wedges. Sis had a bowl of Gumbo which she was a decent at best while my wife had Cold soup she had to send back(not a soup person so it's not effecting my rating)Before our main dish came out they plated up fresh pickles and onions. Then came out food a a decent amount of food for the 6 of us with some left over. Shrimp I could have done without being popcorn shrimp not really worth it but the fish was amazing. Farmington is an hour and 13 minutes from my house. My husband and I as well as 4 other friends packed up to go for lunch. Absolutely NO REGRETS!!! The parking lot was packed but plenty of seats on the inside. We were seated pretty quickly. Our waitress was sweet as pie and told us how it all worked. We all got the all you can eat dinner for $16.99. That comes with chicken, real catfish & popcorn shrimp plus 6 sides. We got potato wedges, fried corn, green beans, fried okra, Cole slaw & hush puppies. They also give you pickles and onions. 2 different kinds of pickles freshly made. Bread & butter slices and dill spears. They also make the ranch, honey mustard & kettle sauce. The catfish was amazing! Fried up golden brown. The chicken was a little dry but still flavorful and the shrimp was good. The sides were delicious as well. Ok except for the fried corn on the cob. Can't win them all. Drinks are served in big mouth mason jars. I got water but the hubby got the sweet tea and later changed to an Arnold Palmer. Both were good. The restaurant was country style in appearance a lot of space where everyone is welcome. Conversations going on until all of the food comes out. It's a nice drive but totally worth it. Go!! Ate here with my sister and enjoyed the catfish, dipping sauces, and side dishes. I want to try more of their menu items. I would also like to see pictures of their fish tacos. Fin's restaurants in La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego and Rubio's Coastal Grill, both of Baja California oceanic cuisine, have wonderful fish tacos and they market "Taco Tuesday" as a strategy that also helps families decide where to eat. Roberto's restaurants of California, and probably elsewhere, also have wonderful rolled tacos with lots of flavors.
