Sunset by the river at the Landing.

We have made two trips to the Landing. This time we decided to stay. I suppose I could give points off because the parking lot and hotel is under construction, but it's a small price to pay for the great location and service. I'd love to see the process to rent tubes streamlined a bit. Including the rental process with our hotel registration would be a great improvement. The river is amazing, the van ride is thrilling and the people, mostly kids, are all doing their jobs. We love this place, with all its quirks, and will remain loyal fans and customers as they make their improvements to the facility.

Stayed at The Landing during the week in July, and was placed in a room in The Rosecliff Building. We are a family of 4 with 2 teens. First night we ate at The Landing restaurant. Food portions were good, but meal left a lot to be desired. Steak and burger were way undercooked, chicken dinner was passable, but catfish dinner was excellent. But, biggest issue was cost. For a small town one would not expect to pay $88 plus tip, and that only included 2 drinks from the bar. The waitress was the nicest part of meal. The Landing has 2 buildings with guest rooms. The main building, and the Rosecliff Building behind. Neither have elevators, so if you happen to be placed on the third floor like we were be prepared to walk lots of stairs. We had a double queen with a refrigerator, which you have to pay extra for. The room size is nice, but could use an upgrade, the mattresses are VERY firm. Also, ice can only be gotten at the front desk so be prepared to walk back and forth to the main building a lot. I loved the front deck, but once the sun set you could not sit out there because of the large number of spiders all over the deck, which another reviewer also mentioned. The major problem with this resort is there is absolutely nothing to do there. They stated they have bands on the weekend, but we were there during the week. The only activity is to float on the river (which is very cold so hopefully it is hot when you visit), which we did but after that there isn't much else. There were no activities on the property, no fire pit, no volleyball net, nothing - unless you want to rent ATV's for $199 for a half day. And when it rains you are basically stuck in your room. The town doesn't have much else by way of options either. We were able to fish from the river front on the property with some luck so that helped pass the time. We also felt that all staff was not as "friendly" as other people had posted, many had seemed almost "done" with the summer crowd. The hostess at check in also berated the cleaning staff in front of us because our room was not ready 2 hours after the appropriate check in time, which was uncomfortable. The 2 star rating was basically for the float trip the resort offered ($80 for our group), the beautiful river, and the location of the resort. 3 nights was maybe one night too many for us.

Sorry, couldn't wait to eat but forced a pic of cheeseburger. Yum

I ordered 12 ounce strip medium rare and the steak was very dry. Definitely not with the price.

Best steaks in the nation!! Try a root wad or Coleman's Failure for appetizers but make sure you order a steak cooked to perfection!

However, the wise and folks that love to explore, will insist on experiencing what's most important--the food, service and atmosphere. Hands down, this place prepared one of the best tasting and presentable steaks I've ever had! It was seared with perfection, tender and melted in my mouth with flavorful juices. The service was amazing! Services was amazing because they were being themselves and moving with a sense of urgency. They weren't trying to put on "a show of perfection". Constant communication amongst themselves and with customers. That feeling you find in a happy, warm and family oriented place usually called home. No fancy name needed to the restaurant, or corporate owned image that chain restaurants have. Just a restaurant conjoined to a convenience store/gas station, that can easily put to shame big name restaurants. Whomever may read this review of mine, do yourself a beautiful gesture...come indulge and enjoy an epic steak, or even something else off the menu. Oh yeah, and their apple cobbler and strawberry cake are super!

Look, I'm not the type of smoker that needs or even wants a cigarette before/after a meal. I flippin' LOVE having that option. What can I say, I'm a Veteran, I dig FREEDOM. This place put freedom in your face. You don't wanna smoke, they got a section for you, it's cool. Or you could pop over to literally anywhere else that caters to your non-smoking ways. What do we have anymore?: Lazy C's, that's what. This is the type of establishment I will go to until the day it closes, or I kick-up and die. Let's talk food... first, you may have to wait for your food, if they are busy or no. Be patient. Think about where you are. The food, regardless of your feelings of "oh no, smoking " is worth the wait. I had the fish basket. I asked if the fish is frozen: yes. Usually that'd be a no go right there. HOWEVER, the server assured me that it was a favorite on the menus and the fish was frozen with efficiency in mind, not because it was store-bought or what have you. The basket arrived, the fish was hot, I snapped a fillet in two and... CATFISH! Those who know me well know that I don't like catfish. Like, vehemently. I was hungry and I'm never one to return something I ordered, especially after all my questions on freshness ‍ I took the smallest of bites... then another... slapped hubs hands away from my basket and devoured the whole fillet within seconds. Hubs was like "I thought you don't like..."... there is always one exception to every rule..? Maybe that just applies to catfish Then... we went back... two more times within that same week. Breakfast, lunch, dinner: you can NOT go wrong. To the owners: The prices are so nice! It's been a while since I felt like I wasn't robbed for my breakfast. We sincerely appreciate y'all and cannot wait to get back out there for more fish

I went in expecting a simple bite and left wondering why I hadn't been coming here all along. The food is exactly what comfort food should be--generous portions, cooked with care, and packed with flavor. My meal came out hot, fresh, and clearly made by someone who knows their way around a grill. Every bite tasted like it was crafted with pride. The staff deserves a shout-out too: friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy you're there. Izzy was great!! They make the whole experience easy, relaxed, and enjoyable--just the way a great local grill should feel. Whether you're craving a hearty burger, a plate of perfectly seasoned fries, or something smoky and satisfying off the grill, Lazy C's delivers big-time. It's the kind of place you try once and immediately add to your regular rotation. Lazy C's Grill gets an enthusiastic thumbs-up from me. If you want great food in a laid-back environment, this is the spot. I'll definitely be back for more!
