So I had to rely on Yelp once again to find a reliable and well reviewed place to get a Brazilian sugar which is always a little nerve-wrecking! But once again, Yelp steered me right to MB Day Spa and to the lovely Gigi! Gigi was an absolute pleasure, so nice + warm. Made you feel like family. I have also NEVER had someone more invested in providing a precise wax, she got everything and I mean everything! That was so amazing and something I really appreciated. Her prices are extremely affordable + when in VA and needing a clean up, I will absolute be coming to see Gigi! Highly recommended.

There was no spa music playing. So during the scalp massage and shoulder massage, there was no music and during the facial there was music

When I got there, the masseuse seemed surprised her business was even on Groupon. She asked how much I paid, then told me I needed an appointment. Me: "I know. That's why I'm here. For the appointment." Then came the next surprise. The Groupon was for a chair massage and reflexology, but she said she didn't even have a chair. For the chair massage she was advertising on Groupon?? Instead, both masseuses were just sitting there, totally available, and instead of honoring the Groupon they advertised, they wanted us to pay $160 out of pocket ($80 each). Apparently the Groupon was just there for decoration. Did I just get punked? Lady do you know much gas is?! So to recap: Bought Groupon Called and scheduled appointment Drove through thunderstorms and possible tornado weather Showed up on time Groupon honored Chair existed Massage received If you're not going to accept Groupon customers, don't advertise on Groupon. It'll save everyone time, gas money, and the joy of driving through severe weather just to be told the service you paid for is apparently imaginary.

This place gets an A+ for professional, cleanliness, and good location, as well as good service…read more But I'd give it a C when comes to variety of technique and deep tissue quality of massage. As someone who suffers from chronic neck pain, I really need someone who can get in the muscle deep. So when I say I need a deep tissue massage, I mean I need DEEP. Most of the time, I have to direct my masseuse what to focus on and what I need in terms of pressure and most of the time they listen. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I was paired up with a female masseuse who was sweet enough in manner but didn't seem to speak much English so when I asked her to only focus on my neck or when I kept asking for deeper pressure, she was respond in agreement but then would proceed to continue doing what I asked her not to do. I specifically asked her to only focus on my upper back/neck area and not to do my whole body. She did work on my upper area but then proceeded to do the rest of my body when I asked her not to. I know they are trained to do full body massages but the purpose of getting a massage for a lot folks is to get some relief from pain or tight muscles with specific attention to problem areas. If I'm going to pay an inordinate amount of money for an hour massage, I'd rather not have it wasted on parts of my body I don't need worked on. Needless to say, I realized I can't get what I really need here, so while I appreciated the good service overall, I will continue my journey for a great masseuse elsewhere.

I was specifically looking for skilled Licensed Massage Therapists, and their setup looked promising. I booked a 75-minute therapeutic session with Tatiana and it was far beyond "good." It was easily one of the best and most effective massages I've ever had! As someone who is knowledgeable about proper technique and tends to be quite critical, I was thoroughly impressed. Tatiana is simply amazing, and my only regret was not booking a full two hours! Tip for first-timers: The building is set back from Duke Street and isn't directly visible from the road, so give yourself a few extra minutes to find it. It is well worth checking out, and I will definitely be booking a 2-hour session with Tatiana on my next visit.
