I've been here multiple times and have never been disappointed. It is a very thorough massage and they will find every knot and work it out. No this isn't a fancy spa where you pay big bucks for some one to rub you lightly; and yes they do answer the phone (they are running a business after all) and yes English is not their first language but that means they speak two languages to your hmmm one? I really have thought about how to write this review and honestly there isn't much other way. The professionalism of this facility is sub-par.... in fact, probably the worst I've seen. I was walked in on, while undressing, had my arms grabbed and was shoved (multiple times to the table). I was trying to ask them a question and i was repeatedly then grabbed by my head and pushed into the table until i said, "do NOT touch my head like that again". The towel they want over you is cold and the beginning portion of your massage is with this on you. You then have your underwear pulled down below your rear leaving it exposed throughout the massage. They don't ask if you're comfortable with this, they put them back down if you pull the towel to cover yourself... they really just don't care. Throughout the massage phones were going off, the staff were speaking between each other and i was mounted "straddled" at different points of the massage. I woke the next day with bruises that covered my arms, back and legs. This is not a facility i would recommend to anyone. What a surprise Our massages were very robust and quite different from traditional practices in the North East taught to schools in Maine, CT & Mass. It was quite methodical and she repeated strokes till the muscle released. However she definitely had very good instincts on how to get at the muscles. This is not a sweet little relaxing massage. I knew when the couple that walked out before our appointment were muttering "OMG" and "wow, that was amazing" we had picked the right place. My husband and I got the 1/2 & 1/2 foot/body but I think any choice of massage would've been perfect. Pain was released that had been in my back forever. Don't get me wrong, I was quite sore the next day, but it's to be expected when someone does a good massage. I feel a huge relief even weeks later! Excellent, professional Chinese-style massage, and a bargain. We lived in China for several years and have had hundreds of massages, this was among the best, right here in York. A 60-minute couples' massage included hot stones, oil and hot-towel scrub. Chinese massage is pragmatic and effective, which means you may enjoy it more after than during, so tell them upfront if you want "gentle". As of July 2023 they charge $1/minute and a minimum 20% tip and $8 credit card fee. Still a great deal. You deserve an amazing massage and Zen deserves your business. read more

Zero ambiance. The prices will lure you in but get ready to pay up front (which is weird) and to get hit up for the tip. Your rating will depend on your expectations going in. I like a massage as maintenance. To keep knots and tensions out of my neck and back. So going more often is better and I can do it more often if it doesn't cost so much. I've had many massages. I just got back from Sarasota and paid $170. with tip. Zen charges $65 for a full hour (not 50 minutes!) and with hot stones too. The downside for some people is they don't speak much English. You only need to say "hard, medium or light" or "too hard or too light" and smile. They won't be talking to you thru the massage which is a plus for me so I can relax. And yeah, you have to be a bit chill about them moving you without telling you first what they are doing. It's not a spa! No frills. I wouldn't go for a romantic couples thing or give a gift card to a friend because they might not like this style. But for myself, it's great, and I can go more often and they certainly do a good massage. I've had 3 different women now and they are a bit different in approach but all good. I've sent two of my daughters and they both liked it. If you are ultra sensitive about the language or not having a fancy decor, or a woman getting on the table (briefly, and only once) to use her elbows, then don't go! But they are offering a reasonable alternative to people who don't have a ton of money so I hope they stick around. They are perfectly nice people and it's easy to get an appointment last minute.
