I booked a couples massage on January 1st and received a message that the booking was not confirmed until someone from the spa contacts me. It's been 17 days and I have attempted to contact the spa repeatedly by phone, email, and WhatsApp but have been fully ignored. Really disappointing to get to Puerto Rico and be failed by a salon catering to tourists. Maybe I dodged a bullet judging from the other reviews. From the moment I walked in, it was clear this place was not worth the high price. Upon entry, they handed me a bag for my towel and bathrobe--because you only get one towel. As for the bathrobe, it was in terrible condition and made from some odd material that was definitely not cotton. The layout was chaotic, with mixed rooms spread across multiple floors, making it a confusing and disorganized experience. Then came the massage--easily the most disappointing part. I specifically requested a deep tissue massage, but what I received felt more like random rubbing with no real technique. For $175 for 80 minutes, this was a complete rip-off. You'd be better off spending your money elsewhere, maybe on a tour where you'd at least get some value for what you pay. Avoid this place! read more

I purchased a series of massages and when i went to the spa in Condado the steam room was not working,3 month later is sitll not working.I then went to the Guaynabo location to enjoy the steam and was also NOT working.One of the showers didn't provide cold water ,the water was coming off to hot and the hose turner felt off.You can't promised people spa services and then not have a steam room working, something is not right.I will go some place else for massage next time. This is like the worst spa I've been too. The steam room was not steamy. The sauna and steam room were very small. There were only 2 bathrooms one of which was locked and 2 showers. The robe was not comfy. I've been to real luxury spas like the kohler spa and the ritz Carlton so I was just unimpressed. I did enjoy my massage, I had the female masseuse and she did great job. I went to Zen Spa in San Juan PR on August 21, 2020. I am a Essential worker from NYC and this was my first vacation and time off since the Pandemic. ( they strictly follow all CDC Covid regulations ) It was a much needed get away. I must say from the time I walked in, till the time I left the entire staff was extremely professional and accommodating and nice. As I undressed to start my day I could feel the pressure and tension of life peeks away. The environment was so relaxing and calm. All my attendants was so nice and explained everything that I was going to receive . Coral give me an amazing massage, Liz performed an outstanding manicure and pedicure and lastly Jeraly give me the best facial I had in a while. Overall my experience was what I needed and worth every penny. This is what happens when you are desperate to book a massage... you ignore the Yelp reviews. Tried to book it before I left for vacation, called, but no response to my message. Tried to book it by calling when I arrived, no response. Walked to the spa, booked it for Sunday, got a text that it was cancelled. Booked it for today. Masseuse was okay and the place was clean; however, steam room closed, sauna did not rise above 110 degrees, one shower closed and only one towel provided. Oh, and the hot tub was unavailable. My man and I went here during our baby moon and when I tell you it was a waste of time and money; I felt bad my man had to even pay for the lack of service I received. For legit an hour, the masseuse played on my upper back with no type of pressure. He was booked for a prenatal full body massage and stayed on my upper back the entire hour. No one came to explain what had happened. Then she came back and said she would not be performing the service for me and my friend). The manager gave us a bunch of unnecessary explanations. As a resident of Puerto Rico and a client of Zen Spa, I would have liked to give one of our businesses 5 stars. However, on January 13th I had the worse manI-pedi experience. The technician was inexperienced although very sweet. The area for mani-pedis was filthy. Given COVID, you'd think they would step up their cleaning protocols. The pedicure machines (inside and outside) have not been cleaned in years, and the technician used the same 2 towels as if towels were scarce. I have been to zen spa Condado and zen spa Oceania at the Hilton. The services are average and cheaper than the fancier spas like the Condado Vanderbilt, but not cheap enough for my last horrible experience. My friend and I booked a spa package and got massages and manicures which were fine, but we kept hearing someone coughing in another room. I thought this was strange because we had filled out two page questionnaires saying we were healthy, vaccinated, no cough, ... and yet they had allowed someone sick in the spa. When my manicure was done, my manicurist left and was replaced by a different staff member. She got up to go in another room several times and was sniffling so much her mask fell down. Then she coughed. They had sick employees actively working during a pandemic! My friend and I both got sick after this horrible spa experience. I asked her twice if she was ok and she just evaded the question and kept painting my toes. I told the receptionist how uncomfortable the experience was and I was assured that the employee did not have COVID. COVID or not she was very sick and got us sick. Don't pay this spa to get you sick. Go to Walgreens and paint your toes and stay healthy or go to the Condado Vanderbilt for a real spa. read more

I came to this spa for a couples massage with my husband. The waiting area was very zen and definitely helped me feel very relaxed. I was so excited for my massage because I am newly pregnant and needed a little tension relieved from my shoulders. Unfortunately, as soon as my massage therapist came out I knew it wasn't looking good. My husbands therapist greeted us by mine didn't even look us in the eye. I usually go for massages once a month back home and they'll usually asked me if there's a specific place I'd like then to focus on. My therapist failed to do so. The only moment he said a word to me was asking me to take my robe off and lay face up. At no point did he even touch my shoulders or neck. He tried killing time by doing some pocking in my feet. I was so stressed and anxious for him to finish that I actually considered getting up and leaving but I'm to timid to do so. The pressure was as if my nieces were rubbing oil in my legs. He did not relieve any tension on my back what's so ever. All in all I was unhappy but I was hoping my husband had a much better experience. When I asked, it wasn't the case. It could have been 4 stars. I went on a Monday afternoon for a facial, pedicure and whole body massage with hot stones. The place is not cheap at all. I was willing to pay because this was meant to relax me the very day before my spine surgery, and I wanted to ensure the facilities were pleasant. Sadly, there are other massage places in Puerto Rico, but the facilities are either too bright, or not aesthetically pleasant, or if they exist, very few businesses have websites with photos of their facilities. This place is an institution and located in a very touristy area, so although I knew I was paying more, I went for it. The facilities are nice. Dark and with those nice contemporary ceiling spotlights, and wood floors. There's New Agey music anywhere you go in the hallways and waiting areas, and they have fruit and water. I'd say they could ensure that the fruit is fresher, though. And I also did notice that, on the way upstairs to the 2nd level, the staircase area kind of looses the zen-ish atmosphere, because the walls need a little more paint and perhaps even color (not white and stained as they are), and a light dimmer. Also, because the halls and waiting areas are dark, I think they slouch a little on maintenance, since I noticed some water filtration spots in some areas and little fixtures that could use some attention. But generally, the dimmed lights and music, safe lockers, and friendly staff set the mood for me. The facial was fantastic. The girl who did it was very sweet and did extractions as expected and my skin looked and felt good. I've had longer facials with microdermabrasion for cheaper, but I can't speak badly about the facial results nor the girl who did it. I forgot her name, unfortunately. She was very kind. Karla was the girl who did my pedicure. She was nice and did a great job at smoothing my feet. The chair was a very nice reclinable chair with massage features and the pedi area in general was nice looking. The bitter part was the massage... Dennis, who is one of the owners, greeted me and we spoke of my back condition and problems. He insisted that we didn't do hot stones and that the massage was instead more hands-on. Thinking he's the knowledgeable one -- there are many diplomas of his studies as a masseuse hanging on the walls of his massage room -- I agreed to discard the hot stones idea. The massage started out great but later developed into something different. I was uncomfortable. I won't get into details, but I didn't like it and I will not be going back. So if you go, just avoid Saturdays, because from what one of the employees said, it gets impossibly crowded. There's valet parking nearby and also meter parking upfront. This spa is right across from the Ventana Al Mar with the huge fountain, right in the heart of Condado, close to major hotels. read more

My hotel didn't have a spa of its own. For a luxury spa this place is seriously lacking the luxury feel (spa is between Cartier store and Louis Vuitton). I even saw a cockroach in the men's changing room. There was a broken shower and the steam room did not work properly. Once inside the actual massage room you'll need a jacket to keep warm. It's freezing. Too cold to have an enjoyable experience. As for the massage itself, the worst massage ever. Your grandma may be able to apply lotion on your body and make you feel more relaxed than you will here. I don't think the masseuses are trained correctly. Ladies changing area/locker room is small and cramped. There is no where for you to sit as you change. There's not space to blow dry/curl hair or do your make up after the massage. The area is more like hallway with lockers that people walk through rather than a ladies changing/locker room. We got the couples massage, which was mediocre. Felt more like moisturizer being rubbed in than an actually massage. Ambiance for couples massage was nothing special. Upon check out they told me that tips had to be paid cash (something we weren't told prior). So when I said I'd have to bring cash back for the tip she then said she could do an additional transaction to run the tip on my credit card. Horrible. As someone who gets a therapeutic massage regularly, I was sooooo looking forward to my appointment. The massage therapist didn't want to listen to what I was saying my body needs. I requested deep tissue and to focus on my lower back. Neither request was granted. The chair in the mani/pedi room gave a better massage despite singing like a humpback whale anytime the mechanism moved. The manicure lasted a combined 10m for both hands. Same for Pedi. Zero massage included with either mani or pedi. No liners or disinfectant use present with the pedicure chairs.. hoping there will be no need for some weird anti-fungal ointment. Informed the check out attendance that the steam room in the men's locker room isn't just malfunctioning, it's quite literally dangerous. I burned my hand trying to open the door. I had a horrible experience as a resident of Puerto Rico, I was discriminated against because I was speaking English to my mother while we were waiting to be taken. I called ahead and made an appointment on the phone and spoke with two separate people while making an appointment and neither one of them said you would need a covid test before coming. I am Puertorican and have not been out of the country but they just assumed I was an outsider and told us to leave because we did not have a covid test done. I then called another location to see if this was true and they confirmed that it wasn't. I've never been to an actual spa besides on a cruise ship. I had a GREAT overall experience. I booked the A Little Piece of Heaven package. You have to arrive early to get prepared for your service(s). When you check in, you get a robe, shoes, towel, and a locker to put your belongings into. The robes fit ALL sizes which is always a plus. The shoes ran small so ask for a size up if you have wide feet like mines. They also offer refreshments in the relaxation room and they have a nice selection of teas. The staff is really nice. I have been here twice. I bought my friend a gift card here and it comes in a nice bag with tissue paper. My friends and I love the girl time! The first time I went I got a facial and the lady was so rough (I told her and she didn't care) and I told her my upper lip is very sensitive and she continued to put product there. I just made sure management knew to never book me or my friends with her again! They ladies in the nail salon department work really especially on pedicures. The oils that are used for the massages are divine and I think they sale them in the gift shop. I love this place very relaxing and I plan to go at least once a month read more

If I could rate this place zero stars... I would. I will start off by saying the spa is dirty. Second you schedule a massage the therapist does not leave the room for you to unrobe. There is no sheet and they use a small bath towel that feels like sand paper. Next I scheduled a one hour massage only to receive one for 30 minutes. And, usually the individuals who had experiences that were good (or bad) enough to fire up the web browser, at that. I had a great massage with Alexander. If I'd thought to book a longer one, I'm sure I would have been asleep by the end. The pressure was perfect, and he checked in often enough to ensure that was the case without it being distracting. The booking page seems not to work flawlessly, but someone called and we were able to get it sorted out. Not only would I go back again, but I've already scheduled my appointment. Bad massage!! It's deceiving because my hotel recommended it and it's between fancy stores. The male massage "therapist" was not properly trained on how to drape a woman correctly. Besides being on high alert from his improper draping the massage itself was a step above worst massage ever. I say one small step because he did try to get a knot out of my back. Spent $250 for (2) 55 minute massages here, and way over-paid. They recommended we arrive 30 minutes early to shower and use the steam room. The steam room didn't work although they insisted it did. There was zero steam, so I wouldn't call that working. It was like sitting in a shower stall after someone had finished showering. So I figured I'd take a hot shower to kill the 20 minutes until my massage - no hot water in either shower. I just went and sat in the waiting room. I went for a hot stone massage, and the guy giving the massage would swap the stones out and take forever - I was sure he had left the room a couple of times. Went to Zen Spa back in March because the hotel in which I was staying, La Concha Renaissance, recommended it. (BTW: La Concha was wonderful. I highly recommend staying there.) Zen Spa is located across the street from La Concha in a very nice part of San Juan and surrounded by upscale designer boutiques. I had booked a deep tissue massage and facial the day before and went on a Thursday, because I understand weekends are not recommended due to the high volume of customers. The upside: I found the front desk assistants to be pleasant and the overall spa to be nice. My "men's" facial was done very well and thought the woman who did it was very professional. Liked her a lot. The downside: my deep tissue massage was TERRIBLE. The woman, whose name was either Martha or Marta, can't remember, was simply terrible...all she did was press a little on my back and mainly just rubbed oil all over me. She never once asked me any questions before the massage or even during the massage. Frankly, when it was over with, I considered it a very expensive oil rub down and not a massage at all. I seriously doubt that she was a trained massage therapist and even got the sense that maybe she had once worked in the salon part of the spa as a person who gives facials, only because of the way she "massaged" my face. Yeah, she was basically a salon person giving a massage. In a nutshell: if you want a good facial, go to Zen Spa. It's really the only thing they know how to do.
