I am over a year late in writing this review. I wish I reviewed sooner, so everyone can be aware that this gem exists! My husband and I came to this salon shortly after our plane landed in Jan 2025. We didn't have time to get pedicures before traveling, so we figured we would patronize a local business in PR. After doing a quick Google search, I came across Anam Spa. I do not remember the two nail technicians who serviced us, but they were fairly young and they were very nice. They took their time in giving us the pedicure and they provided great suggestions when we asked them what are some things we should do while in PR. The place was clean clean. Nicely decorated and just felt very warm and welcoming. I would definitely return. read more

I am a long time resident of Old San Juan and this is not my first visit to Anam, but after today I'm very disappointed and may not ever return or recommend this place to anyone. My pedicure was great, but my gel manicure was not. One nail didn't cure properly--likely due to a malfunctioning lamp--and chipped within hours. I spent $100 (plus tax and a $20 tip), which is more than I typically pay anywhere else. When I called the next morning, I was told to come in before 7 p.m. for a fix, but no one answered when I called later. When I arrived, I was told that my manicurist had gone home and the salon didn't have the products needed to match the cat-eye design. I was told that they could not do refunds, then I was given conflicting answers about whether they could redo the full manicure (manager's initial offer) or only the chipped nail (manager's after talking to the other manicurists). When I asked if the repair would match, I was told by the manicurist they'd "do their best." I honestly just wanted the nails to look nice and last for my work's holiday party, so I sat down to get the one nail fixed. After respectfully warning the technician that electric drills heat up my nails, she became defensive, said I had an "attitude" since enter the business, she stood up, refused service, and sent me back to the manager. After waiting 45 minutes, I received only a $35 refund, I left extremely disappointed and with a nail that look now worst than when I first enter the "spa". Overall, the poor service, lack of consistency in warranty/refund policies, and unprofessional behavior made this a very disappointing experience. read more

The staff were busy but still very friendly, and really showed their clients a great time. The front of the Salon is a bar, then the 2nd part is the Nail/Waxing salon. They served up Sangrias with my Gel Mani/Pedi. The end of the block is a perfect location for this bar/salon. Music was just right, not too loud. And the place is very clean read more

If I could give no star I would! I asked for regular plush mani pedi and I looked at the bottle of regular polish at the end and it was gel! She told me it was fine it was not! Not only did she pul gel on me when I said I couldn't have it by not curing it and using it like regular polish I could have gotten a fungal infection!! Don't go here! It's an interesting concept, nail salon and restaurant. It's more of a bar feel but you can order food and drinks. If you'd like, your first sangria is free. My pedicure was interesting. My polish was taken off then my toes were polished prior to soaking. Then, I had a very brief soak followed by buffing and a sugar scrub. Maria was a great. Feeling a little played... I came in with the intention of getting a manicure, pedicure, Brazilian wax and an eyebrow wax. No complaints in regards to the mani or pedi, neither the eyebrow wax. My hands, feet and eyebrows look great thanks to Anam Spa! However, I was definitely overcharged for my Brazilian wax and I still have hair around my bikini area and need to shave, which was what I was trying to avoid by coming here. $150 for a Brazilian wax is way too much, especially when the quality is not up to par for that price. The experience and vibe was really nice, and they even gave my aunt and I free sangrías!! But I sadly don't feel inclined to return because I do feel like I was taken advantage of. I included a photo of my receipt and obviously can't include a photo of my lady parts lol but I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't think it was worth it to help someone else avoid getting overcharged too. $75 for front and $75 for back supposedly. I'm from Manhattan and they don't even charge these prices. I would at least have a solid wax job done if anybody did. edit: My $30 gel mani lasted less than a few days. Loved this place so much; we went twice! In my first visit to Puerto Rico; on a girls trip we were on the search for the perfect Pina Colada. We tried em all! From the $30 plus dollar beach pina coladas in a pineapple; to the pre-made slushie machines; Anam spa had the BEST drinks by far! Their drinks are made with mixers that have fresh juice and are made in house. I tried pina colada, mojitos, and the yummiest Sangria; I've ever had! Plus, they actually get you tipsy! All their drinks come in standard red SOLO cup; so it's not flashy; but damn these drinks were my favorite in all of San Juan. The ladies that that work on the weekends, made them especially strong! Also, they were not overpriced and the view on the Patio is fantastic! Highly recommend! read more

Originally suppose to get a mani/pedi but only got the pedi. The technician cut off my ingrown toe nail and I started gushing blood and she didn't say sorry or anything. I then started to feel nauseated and almost passed out from the pain and blood. Afterwards, I told the cashier she cut me and I asked for a discount. She said "no, accidents happen". You can see the blood in my polish. Only good thing was the free drink, other than that- i'm not coming back! read more

Any time my husband and I visit San Juan, we make a stop at Anam Spa for a few rounds of beers. We've never had the food (though it looks and smells amazing when I see it go by to other customers) and we haven't tried the spa section. But the service here is always warm and friendly. Talkative but not intrusive. You feel like someone from the neighborhood when you're here. Our favorite thing is to sit at the bar, looking at the reflection of the ocean in the mirror behind the bar, sipping beers, and having relaxed conversation on a lazy day. Perfection! What better way to pass a rainy day than with treating yourself to a mani or pedi? You can get a paraffin pedicure here for $45 and they also have a bar with well-priced drinks. We enjoyed our conversations with the ladies performing our services and were even able to get some recommendations for dining in the area. They were efficient without making me feel rushed at all and extremely clean in all of their practices. We'll likely stop in for a drink and other services on future trips. I was given one of the best pedicures I've ever had, great manicure and relaxing massage. My manicurist/massage therapist had great energy, was attentive and thorough, and really made the experience enjoyable for me! Paid more than mainland pricing for a French gel mani and the white tips started chipping away within a week! I've NEVER experienced this on the mainland. Amazing service - ladies are very friendly and owner very hospitality-driven. The complimentary sangria is amazing! I have mixed feelings about this place. I loved the service itself, as the mani pedis were both great TLC. The unfortunate part is that the regular top coat they use (China Glaze) bubbled the **same day**, and my fingernails chipped by the following morning. They continued to chip over the following three days before I redid them. My pedicure also bubbled but did not chip, so longevity was better there. I was not rough on my hands or feet over that period. I went for the foot massage/nail filing more so than the polish, so the polish issue wasn't a big deal... but I would have still liked for my fingernail polish to last longer than an evening, especially given that this table stakes for a nail salon and for a place with such amazing reviews. This place is awesome! Such a lively vibe and great customer service. Gal at the bar was great and very charismatic. Maria did my nails, and even though I was her last client before closing she took her time on me and was very attentive. Looked like a the employees enjoyed working there and customers were having fun because of that. Locals there getting services were also very nice and helpful, giving traveling advice to us. I was very happy with my pedicure (which is not something I can say for every nail salon I visit). I went in December and there was no a/c. Not sure if they ever have a/c there but, because of the salon's location, there is a nice breeze (In fact, I think I prefer fresh air over a/c when dealing with nail polish). read more

I was so ready to give Anam five stars, but I'm glad I waited a bit. Location: Perfect. Within walking distance of any of the Old San Juan hotels or the cruise terminal. Beautiful views of the water. Ambiance: So fun and beautiful. Right in the middle of Old San Juan up a cobblestone hill. Beautiful old building with a bar attached. Free sangria with spa purchase over $15. The sangria was tasty. Services: I chose the gel manicure and basic pedicure. The pedicure was great and my gal did a good job. The only disappointment was the gel manicure, which started chipping/peeling after one week. It looks as though I just got a regular manicure that just started chipping. Disappointed that I spent the extra money on gel and it didn't last longer. The price point was $68 for both. I will come back during my next visit to Old San Juan, but I will skip the gel manicure next time. read more
