I was told lies by multiple staff as to the well being of my sister. My calls of concern were quickly disconnected. Most info was found to be untrue concerning bed sitters, feeding, bathing, and changing. After being told my Sister was bathed the previous day, I visited and found her too heavily sedated to even eat or drink, same socks and clothing from a week ago, dirty sheets, nails dirty and curled over, and mouth shriveled from dehydration. I used a q-tip end and scraped out large chunks of buildup under each nail. Hours before my sister passed, I had been hung up on 4 times in a row before being told they don't known if anyone showered her, and then just saying yes to all questions in an attempt to end conversation. I verified info with hospice and was told they probably hung up because they were busy doing rounds. Many uncontracted nurses told me I need to get my sister out of there before they kill her. She was left alone in a different town where she was suppose to receive comfort dignity and respect. She died in filth, starved and over medicated. She spent the 75 days prior to this move alert and awake in the hospital. One day here was all it took for them to make the decision that her behavior requires heavy sedation around the clock due to agitation. I am having a hard time even finding the words to express my disgust for my experience here. I couldn't get my sister out of there fast enough and now she is gone. They are very understaffed and that's probably demoralizing the care team, and it shows in the way they treat their patients and patient families. Dont try to call the nurse stations, no one ever picks up and no one returns voicemails - their staff even said to us that vm won't be returned. Any time we asked a question of the care team, when we could hunt someone down, they didn't know the answer and gave us a blank look. I was speaking with one nurse and he ignored me and was filling out a form for someone else the entire time. You have to REALLY go in person and demand attention and advocate for your family member's needs. For the week she was there, one of the two elevators was down so we took the fire escape stairs (which staff recommended) since the only working one was SO slow. Obviously the patients can't take the stairs so the worst part was it meant there was no access to the whole 6th floor - which is where the physical therapy/rehab space is!! So ignore their pics of PT equipment and the pretty glass roof and view, it was blocked off for all the patients! It also meant they canceled all the communal activities! Also the food is terrible, so mom barely ate anything the whole time she was there. We visited every day and never saw veggies, and saw plain hotdogs (no condiments) and tots, dry gyros, etc., and cheap fake extremely sugary "fruit juice". Nothing healthy at all.

This review is for the Dietary Manager named Joanna Sucgang who works at Central Gardens where my…read morefather is a live-in resident there. I wanted to write a review to share how pleased and grateful I am for the dietary care he is receiving. My dad is a strict vegetarian with a very particular diet that he has been on his entire life and I was not sure if he would be able to sustain it after being moved into Central Gardens. So I made a special request on his behalf to make sure he got some of the dietary items he could eat and OMG, Johanna was an angel. She is who I spoke to about my dad's dietary needs and it's been almost a year now and she has steadily gone above and beyond to make sure my dad was taken care of. She goes ABOVE AND BEYOND to make his stay as comfortable and healthy as possible. Her attitude is so pleasant and joyful and that makes us feel good under the circumstances of having to be confined to a bed. How patients are treated is so important and we are filled with gratitude about their willingness to accommodate his dietary restrictions. We have many options for his nursing home care but I am keeping him put there because of caregivers like Joanna. I thank God every day for her because it makes all the difference in a patient's life. Overall, I have had pretty good experiences with most of the staff and nurses there and me and my dad are happy with his care. But I wanted to do a special review regarding the dietary person because that is crucial to a satisfactory stay at a nursing home. Thank you Johanna Sucgang for your concern and care for my father Ron. Warmly, Kelly
