I always get greeted very nicely by a woman working in the front. I have came in a few times to get some dry cleaning only items from my closet as well as some blazers and suits dry cleaned. They have done a great job and I always leave happy. Their prices are maybe a few dollars more than others however they are the closest commute. I wished i changed my mind n went back in canceled the service. They ruined my thousand dollars shirt. The day I went back to pick it up. I found an obvious discoloration on the front. I should have checked yelp before I took clothes here. I had 2 pairs of my son's pants hemmed here. One of them was part of a suit. Zen returned the incorrect pants to us. The pants we got were 6 sizes too big and a completely different brand. They refused to rectify the situation. Now I"m stuck buying my sone a new suit. read more

This was my first visit to Zen and I am disappointed. I wanted to support the local neighborhood dry cleaner and regret that I did. I brought in a comforter and when I got it back, it smelled bad. I would like to state that I hate Yelp, mainly for their questionable business practice and how much their extortion practices hurt small business (my opinion as a non-small business owner) Now onto the review. After getting my dry cleaning here, first time... I got paid $200! I hope that last line got your attention! Yes, that would be amazing... however, having a dry cleaner give a customer $200 means something went very wrong. Well technically they gave me back ~$165 because I had to pay for the dry cleaning up front; which should have been my first red flag... I've never seen a dry cleaner charge up front first... read below and maybe you'll see why they do this. My wife and I recently moved to the area and needed a dry cleaner. This "business" is closest to our house. We looked and saw the terrible 1 star reviews and threw caution to the wind and said "how bad can a dry cleaner really be?"... wow THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. If I could make up a new word that means worse than terrible... that would be the word I would use. I brought in 1 brand new suit and dress shirt (worn once to wear to my sister's wedding), my wife's pant suit, and one of her blouses (which they no longer make). What I got in return was her pant suit and a $200 check. THIS PLACE LOST MY ONCE WORN SUIT, DRESS SHIRT AND MY WIFE'S BLOUSE. They gave me a bunch of excuses; "This is the first time this has happened", "We don't know where it went", "We believe we may have given your items to a different customer", "This has never happened in the time we have been in business", and then had the audacity to continue to question me if I had already picked up my dry cleaning and forgot. When I told them how much my suit cost, they replied "you can go to Goodwill and get a suit for $100" (NOTE.. the suit cost much more than $100; I refuse to be pedantic and say how much it was on YELP). The older lady who works there even implied that the value of the suit wasn't retail anymore because it's been worn.... All signs of great customer service (/sarcasm if not blatantly obvious) and obvious lack of cognitive thinking. After multiple conversations (phone and in person), they finally point to me their disclaimer (a piece of paper taped to the table next to the register). This disclaimer states that 'In case of damage or lost items, this place will only provide up to 10x or $200 dollars the value of the dry cleaning' (paraphrasing). In which case I asked the manager (I don't know if she's the owner... some middle aged lady), what she would do in my situation? Her response was a resounding shaking of her head and stating they would pay me $200 for my lost items. In short, if I could give this place less than 1 star I would (what a common phrase).... Now I'm only one customer so I'm sure my loss of business won't really impact them.... But I definitely will not go here again. It's not so much the fact they lost my things... it's more they would not take accountability for something that lapsed on their end. Now you can read all of this places bad reviews and their one "Good review"... so funny that the one good review would assume that people are dumb enough to not know which bad business they're review. Emiliana Refused to re-clean, screamed at me that it wasn't guaranteed and used "F" word... I know things can't be guaranteed to come out but when I examine it in the store and show "Emiliana" (store employee) starts screaming at me using the "F" and that they don't guarantee stain removal and refused to clean it again or reimburse me the $89 I just paid for this is terribly upsetting... originally the dress was dropped off to clean drag marks on the bottom... simply put, the bottom was dirty.. now it has stains and she refused to try again I was not a happy, and will not ever go back here!!! Recommend highly nobody else does either. Save yourself the headache and go to a more reputable place that has honor in the work they do.... this place doesn't care about your belongings. Don't use this dry cleaner. The service is terrible. I brought in a dress to be pressed. The older lady who works there told me the total was $11.50. As I handed over the money then politely asked her why it was $11.50. The week before brought in a dress and I thought it was $7.50 to be pressed. She started laughing at me and said no it's $11.50 and kept laughing. I asked her why she was laughing and she stated because my dress could never be cleaned for $7.50. She kept laughing. I paid for the dress and I told her all she needed to say is that I made a mistake thinking it was $7.50 instead of laughing. (She was STILL laughing) she handed my receipt still laughing. I told her she was rude and that she lost my family as a customer. She kept laughing. I picked up the dress four days later and reminded her of what she did and I'll never go back. read more

They ruined my doctoral/academic regalia, which cost me over $1,200. Once I got it home and saw what they had done (burn marks all over the velvet), I brought it back to see what they'd propose by way of remedy. Their solution was to suggest cleaning it again, but there'd be no guarantee it wouldn't be worse. Needless to say, that wasn't an acceptable solution. There was no mention of any financial remedy -- not even a refund for the expensive dry cleaning bill. They charge a fortune and require you to pay in advance. This place is has the worst customer service. I brought my wedding dress in to get altered. They charged me 70.00. The alterations were a bit to snug but I let it go. When I brought my dress back along with my daughters' flower girl dresses after my wedding to be cleaned and stored. They quoted me $300.00. Knowing that was expensive I stilled agreed because I knew they did wedding dress cleaning and boxing. So when my husband came back to get my dresses they were hanging in Garment bags. My husband asked why they were not in boxes and the lady told him that I did not pay for boxes just for a cleaning so he paid for the dresses and left them there and told the lady that I would be back to talk to them about the boxing when I called the next day I spoke to a lady over the phone who proceeded to tell me that I was supposed to tell her to box the dress I explained to her that $300 was very expensive and the lady never told me what she was charging me for and I did not ask because why would I ? If I brought the dresses to the shop before my wedding then had my wedding and brought them back to be cleaned why wouldn't I want them boxed ?? Also isn't that the cleaner's job to ask me if I needed it boxed if her price Didn't include the boxing ?? Miscommunication completely that is fine. But the Worker that I was speaking to on the phone was downright rude. She made it very clear to me several times in the conversation that her worker did nothing wrong and that I am the one in the wrong and my dress was not box because of my fault. She then very rudely said to me that if I wanted My dress boxed then she would do it as a "courtesy" but she will not do it today and she doesn't know if she can until she sees my dress and then she will call me tomorrow. She went on a rant about her being in the business for 15 years and I am in the wrong completely. It was extremely bad customer service and unfortunately she just lost my husband and I as a customer and my husband used them for the past 4 years. I just don't understand how three dresses can be 300 dollars worth of cleaning with no boxes ?? And if I already wore the wedding dress why would I get it cleaned and not boxed for storage ?? Wish there was an option to give 0 stars. The dry cleaner lost or damaged my dress, I'm not actually sure because they didn't know either. They told my husband it wasn't ready yet to pick up and then I went a week later and they said they don't have it. This was a $300 dress worn once and they had no explanation what happened to it, kept backtracking if it was lost or damaged. I've been going to Zen Cleaners for many years and I'm very surprised to see all the bad reviews. The lady who has been there all along has been nothing but wonderful. She knows my name, is always willing to help with alterations, and there's never been a time she doesn't assist with carrying my clothes to my car without a request to do so. My friend went here and they ruined her skirt. She was totally understanding and polite, but they yelled at her, threw her receipt away right in front of her, refused to give it back, refused her any contact information to resolve the issue, and basically treated her like dirt. She filmed the whole thing on her phone, so it's not a "He said, she said." situation. This is a woman who has worked in customer service all her life and was nothing but understanding. I have been a customer for about a year of the Charleston drop off location. II like to get my shirt with light starch and ask for light starch. I took them back last time for a redo since my shirts had so much starch They were like tent fabric. You could hear them they had so much starch. After the re-do they came back exactly the same. I suspect she just put them in new plastic and gave them back. I have spoken to her several times about straightening the inside of the placket before pressing. Each time some of my shirts come back with the inside pressed into a large wrinkle going down the front of the shirt. Don't ask for starch!! I wish there was an option for half a star. First off customer experience is what makes small business work. We use this place out of proximity to our house and today that has changed. I brought in various pieces and asked to have them bagged separately. Anyone who travels for work for can appreciate this. You have a specific pair of pants or shirt that you want to take on this trip, you can grab them and throw them in your suitcase and they will stay wrinkle free. I am not sure if the lady who is always working there is the owner or not, but she needs to take a course on customer service. She questioned why I want it this way after numerous occasions of doing this. She seemed upset that I requested this even after I explained why. I asked her if i need to pay more which I already think this place is overpriced. She continued on why I need this. I asked her if I should take my business elsewhere and she said sure.
