Because I see so many requests for "where to go for car repairs"...I have to tell you...without a shadow of doubt...go to Big O's in Sellersberg!!!! I had an emergency today...at McDonalds, my car wouldn't start. Son left work to come jump start my battery. I drove straight to Big O's in Sellersburg to get a new battery. BUT...they tested my battery, it was good. (average cost for battery is now $100+). They said next culprit could be the alternator. I asked cost....quote was right at $700. They Said, let us do a diagnostic on it. They did...and guess what!!!... It WASN'T the alternator...it was the battery in the key fob, which he came back to the counter with the key fob already fixed...and that cost was $4.00!!! PLEASE NOTE: 1. He verified the problem, even though I came in asking for a new battery. 2. He told me the TRUTH about my diagnosis. 3. He told me the next logical step & quote for price, and VERIFIED (not assume) if that WAS actually the problem! 4. He told me the TRUTH that this expensive repair was not the problem 5. He found the ACTUAL problem, fixed the problem, and told me the TRUTH about what was needed to repair my problem! I can't tell you how wonderful and comfortable I feel, as a woman, about going to Big O's in Sellersburg for my car repairs!! They don't talk down to me, they don't lie to me, they don't fix things that don't need to be fixed, they don't over charge me...they just do their job the way they should and treat you with respect and honor you as a customer! I have been going there since they opened and I have the highest respect for Chris the owner, and Cory the manager and the entire team that operates that store!! They noticed that my back tire was wobbly (not the official phrasing but the gist) -- something they could not repair and that I should not drive on. I called a mechanic close to Costco, who kind of shrugged me off because they couldn't get me in that day. I then called ImportDoktor (should have been my first call!). They also didn't have availability but told me how they could tow it to their shop for $125 and get on it in the morning. They were so friendly and helpful that I went with them. From there, they were great about communicating with me, sending me quotes via text. They were able to finish it the next day and left my car ready for me to pick up. As much of a headache as this experience was, ImportDoktor made it as smooth as it could be. Now my car doesn't make the same worrisome noises that it was before. Grossman's was recommended to us by the first mechanic we went to who didn't have time to fix our van. They took the van in right away, diagnosed it as a front right wheel bearing replacement, and had the van fixed and back on the road a couple hours later. Our van is riding as smooth as new now. I pulled into an O'Reily's (see 5star review for that!) and Jay there recommended me to Carson at Val's, who were open on Sunday. My car made it there Sunday morning. Carson took me in right away and helped diagnose my car for a very reasonable fee, as well as gave me price estimates for the repairs. Due to other work I had recently had done, we decided that the best thing for me was actually to tow back to Indy. Carson gave me some paper work and their assessment results so that I could have some more info for my home garage. This kind of service, especially for an out of state, stressed out, traveller and then they didn't even get the big job -- it's just stellar and SO appreciated.
