15 Jan 2026 I've seen them on FB so many times and told the husband about them. My motivation was to save the tip money when going to restaurants. That's generally been 20% of each bill. Buying meals from Zedric's would negate that. So we went in. You can see some employees putting together meals on the left as you go in. There are huge refrigerators lining one wall. Each area is clearly labeled with what's on the shelves and their prices. Mostly chicken dishes (yea for me), some turkey dishes and some beef dishes. Most contain the meat and a side. We chose to try the grilled chicken with cheesy rice, broccoli and cauliflower. The husband went for rustic chicken with penne pasta. He said his was OK, but not real enthusiastic. When is he, over food. Mine was pretty tasty. The issue and maybe it's because we're pigs, is that it's not quite enough food. We were a little hungry after finishing the meal. I'm thinking maybe a third more food would be perfect for dinner. These would be OK for lunch. Pricing wasn't bad. $20.50 for the two dishes. No tax. You'll get a 15% discount if you subscribe. That is, buy several meals a week. If you want them delivered, that is about $15. Cost prohibitive for us. They do have a nice introductory deal. $47 for six of their better-selling meals. This afternoon I picked up a "Too Good To Go" Surprise Bag! Zedric's is a very clean and sterile establishment. The employees have been helpful and friendly both times I've picked up food to go. This evening I enjoyed the Turkey Chorizo with cliantro lime brown rice. It was very flavorful and smelled so good. There was enough for both my husband and I to enjoy for dinner. This is my GO TO SPOT for meal preps. Have been purchasing from Zedrics for quite a while now. Have NEVER had a bad experience with their food or their expiration dates. These meals have helped me manage my intake throughout the week and gives me great energy through the day. Never a crash on their meals. My favorites are: chicken enchilada casserole, chicken and Italian sausage pasta, Greek chicken bowl, green chile chicken and rice and Zedrics Texas style turkey chili Mac. The food at Zedric's can be very tasty and the nutritional profile is usually excellent. I love the convenience. I could eat their food every day. The one thing I do not love about Zedric's is that I find they have inconsistent quality control. I'll buy five of the same meals in a row and they'll be great--the sixth time there will be something wrong with one. I love the Greek chicken bowl, and bought four at once. Three were great, but one had crunchy rice. I heated it some more and then the chicken was overcooked. I've had undercooked beef as well as other issues. Yes, they will take back the food, but it's not convenient for me to keep bringing food back all the time. And if that was my only option for lunch, I'm going hungry that day. When the quality control is good, I'd be happy eating Zedric's five days a week. It's delicious, guilt-free, and super convenient. I'm always here in San Antonio for work - usually living in hotels, with no cookware and small microwaves/mini fridges. I've been coming to Zedrics since 2017 although it was a different location a few years ago - reasonably priced, fresh, healthy meals. I hate eating out every meal and the way it makes me feel, so picking a week's worth of meals up is always a great start to the week. I haven't had one yet that I don't like - the small size is plenty food for me (usually 350/400 calories). I've been having zedric's for about a month now & the meals are usually good and portioned well. Lately, they changed the container for the small meals & it makes it very inconvenient when you eat. Parking: There is plenty of parking, but it can be packed. Food: The food is great but can be a little more pricey than Fit Foods that I used to go to. And the flavors are good, but some are filled with so much seasoning. I am starting to think there is a bunch of sodium in these things, because of how much seasoning was in my dishes. I got 8 of them, mixed between breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also got the small and regular depending on the dish. Some were small and filling. Others were just too small so I got the regular size. I tried everything from chicken to turkey meatballs, to the cowboy breakfast, and one of the steaks. The food is packaged in plastic containers so you can just microwave them for a minute and be ready to go... They also have drinks, health drinks, and other stuff. Overall, it's pretty good, but I think I will just stick to making my own meals, with all the sodium that are in these things, I could tell in my face the next morning. Raise your hand if you've gained a @#$% ton of COVID weight. Now keep your hands up if the problem started 5 years before that! If you're like me, then you've been looking for some healthy options that actually taste good. Healthy Choice meals are wonderful, but I'm starving an hour later. Protein bars are good and filling, but after a while they all start to taste the same. My wife and I stumbled upon Zedric's and decided to give it a try. The concept behind this place is really wonderful - gourmet meals that fit a calorie-restrictive diet. Think of it like meal prepping, except you're not meal prepping but instead paying someone else to do it. You take a bunch of premade meals home, throw them in the fridge or freezer and microwave them later. No joke, I lost 25lbs in about a month, and all I did was change my diet to Zed's 2 meals per day and something healthy for breakfast like yogurt or some fruit. We won't count the 500+ calories of creamered coffee I drink in the morning. If you manage your snacking and count calories, coupled with eating these meals which are actually filling, then this can work for you. So why 3 stars and not 5? Many of the meals are super delicious. But many of the meals are not. They've tried to tell me that when I go for the discounted items (with expiration dates looming), the quality won't be as good. But I've had expired meals from there that were excellent, and I've had fresh meals that had rotten broccoli. It's hit or miss. Be forewarned. read more

I didn't feel like cooking but didn't want fast food so my boyfriend and I decided to stop here. It's just a room with a wall of fridges. The doors are clear and they have the same item in three different portion sizes on each shelf. They have a fridge of breakfast items too. Everything has been cooked within a2 day time frame. By the 3rd day they put the items not sold on clearance which is good for eating that night. They also have gluten free and vegan items. I decided to take a leap and try the vegan chicken with Pedro's and roasted veggies. Loved the veggies but the chicken, eh, wouldn't order it again. The fried chicken was actually a very nice sized baked chicken breast breaded with almonds. I have never had mashed cauliflower before, but have heard of it many times from the lo carb folks. It was really quite tasty and had just a little bit of a spicy "kick" to it. Their variety is awesome and they even have a discount shelf. This consists of stuff made the day before that didn't sell. My favorite meals are the turkey ragu, grilled steak with sweet potato, and citrus turkey over rice. All meals are prepackaged and labeled with calorie counts and ingredients. There are also specific labels for dietary restrictions (think, "paleo"). Meals are kept in giant refrigerators. When you're ready to eat your meal, you simply heat it up for a minute or two! Super easy. They also have healthy drinks and prepackaged snacks, like popcorn and nutrition bars. Meals aren't cheap, but dishes that expire within 24 hours are typically a reduced price, which is pretty cool. The staff here is top notch. They always offer to help you pick out a meal, and I've seen them get pretty in depth with people about meal plans. Healthy chef prepared meals on the go? Zedric's is your best bet! I've passed by this place numerous times but never stopped in before. Since I've been sort of on a diet to lose a few pounds that I gained on my vacation and also need some lunch to take to work I decided to give Zedric's a try. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by a friendly staff right away. He was super polite and patiently answered all my questions. After looking around, I picked a large cauliflower "fried rice" and a side zucchini dish. The "fried rice" isn't really rice, it's actually made of cauliflowers. I ate the zucchini side dish right after I got home. To my surprise, it was pretty good actually. I ate the "fried rice" for lunch the following day. Wow, I have to say I was pretty impressed. It was absolutely delicious and I was deff satisfied. After my first successful visit, I came again. It was maybe 15 mins before their closing time. They offered me to pick dishes that are expiring the same day for free! Why not? It is not that they have expired already and they can still be enjoyed for dinner that night. So I picked a small salmon salad and also bought a regular priced turkey ragu others all raved about. I ate the salad right away after getting home. OMG! It was beyond delicious and HEALTHY too! Score! Now I know what to get after my workout! The following day I ate the turkey ragu for lunch. I actually didn't like it as much as other reviewers. But it was still good, it is just that I'll probably not get it again. So far, I've also tried their grilled salmon, pretty decent but not my favorite. I've picked up the Thai chicken over yellow rice and chicken stir fry too, will report back after I try them. But my favorite is still the salmon salad! And now on my gym days I always come get that! #AllergenInfo - Soy, Gluten: The Asian themed items, and some of the salad side items contain soy-based commercial mayo. The oil they use here is a blend of Canola & Olive, and is soy free. The tortillas they serve contain unspecific vegetable shortening, so they might not be soy-free. The Turkey burger lists soy oil, but I suspect that comes from the included commercial 100 calorie bun. The Italian Sausage is soy free. Their printed menu marks the items that are Gluten-Free, Vegetarian, Low Carb, and / or Paleo Friendly. I bought several meals on my first visit and ate them over three days. On the same day as my visit I had the Smoked Turkey with Low-Fat Mac & Cheese for lunch. The smell of the Turkey really drew me in when it was reheated, and the taste matched that expectation. Unfortunately the flavor of the Low-Fat Mac & cheese didn't rise to the same heights as the Turkey. Some of that may have been because it was low-fat, but there was a slight grainy quality to the pasta which I'm sure was because it was whole wheat pasta. It also took longer to reheat than the meat, but I consider that a minor issue. As an added bonus, all of their dishes tended to be high in protein, with this one being the highest I had at 50 g. This dish also came with green-beans, but since that's a veggie I don't like, I gave them to my wife, who later had them as a side dish for dinner. She said they were OK. The following morning I had the Blueberry Banana Pancake with Eggs & Bacon side. The pancake came out a little dry when reheated, even with the blueberry topping. The eggs were much better. The flavor that the bacon added helped this side dish side rise to a level that I'd seek out have again, and I more than eagerly finished it. Back to the pancake, even after adding some of my own maple syrup, it still seemed dry, This may be one of their items that is better eaten the same day, or as I'm beginning to think, should be reheated separately from the side dish. Later that same day, I had their Bacon and Goat Cheese Scramble for lunch. The mix of flavors was good on this one, with differing ingredients being highlighted in each bite. The goat cheese and the sun-dried tomatoes didn't heat up as well as the other items in the dish, but with the cheese, it being cooler was another nice occasional contrast. Overall I enjoyed this dish almost as much as the previous egg and bacon side, but I would suggest reheating this at the higher end of Zedric's recommended time. The next day I had their NY Strip w Grilled Vegetables, and this time I heated the meat and veggies separately, with the meat heating a little longer than the veggies. Because I didn't like the beef as much as their turkey, I thought this dish wasn't quite as good as the Smoked Turkey dish, but the veggies were far better than the Mac & Cheese. The zucchini was sweet, and the onions has a nice contrasting snap to them. (Please note that if you are concerned about recycling, their container tops and bottoms can be recycled, but the recycling symbol on their container bottoms is hard to find. I had to peel the label, and use good light, but found it listed as type 5.) Overall I was impressed with their dishes, and if I could mix-and-match, I'd combine their Smoked Turkey with a Grilled Vegetables side. Update on 4/7/13 - I got confirmation that their Italian Sausage is soy-free, and I finally found the recycling symbol on the container bottoms. read more
