Overall, the turn around time felt fast, I ordered Monday and picked up by Thursday AM. I am sure you can get faster if needed. And the pricing felt fair! When I went to pick up, I got to meet Tim and that's always nice. I also got to meet their sweet greeter - a little pup and all she wanted was her belly rubbed. I could have stayed there all day. The scholarly publishing house where I work has been using…read morethem for ages---I personally have been using them for three years---to have foam-core posters and signs made for the many academic conferences and trade shows at which we exhibit. Not only are the posters of a significantly better quality than those you'd have made at FedEx/Kinko's, but the prices are also reasonable, it's easy to submit images, the posters can be done in a jiffy, and the customer service is simply unparalleled. In addition to posters, they also print signs, color copy, and portable exhibits, and they also do fine art reproductions, among other things. Janice and George Holloman run the business together and accept image submissions by FTP on their website (eyeforcolor.com) or by e-mail (I usually e-mail PDFs). Someone (usually George) sends a prompt e-mail response to let me know that things are in the works. George has on more than one occasion e-mailed me to check in with me if, for example, the color in the PDF looks off or if the image is pixelated (just to double check before they print), which is more than FedEx/Kinko's would ever do. And TypEsthetics have saved me many times with last-minute poster requests. Just yesterday afternoon, I submitted a request for four 15" x 22" posters and this morning George e-mailed to tell me they're done and will be delivered by courier this afternoon. They'll ship via UPS, send them by courier if you need them faster, or you can pick them up. They've even shipped directly to the show site for my particularly urgent requests! Every poster is wrapped meticulously to reduce the risk of damage during shipping; I have never received a damaged poster from them. They regularly combine shipping for posters for me and for my coworkers in other departments without having to be asked to do so. They're great about getting invoices to me in a timely manner so I can submit documentation to our accounting office. In from out of town, I called in ahead to have a print order priced, which was quoted at $17 for a…read morehalf size set of architectural drawings. So I doubled the order to have two sets, and emailed a PDF file as requested. Arriving at the shop to pick up my order, the total was $50. The man working and I figured out that the miscommunication occurred on the phone, where he misquoted me because he thought I needed "copies" and not "prints" despite the fact that I mentioned I would email a file (did he think he could make "copies" from a PDF?). I then offered to A) pay the price he quoted on the phone B) pay for and take only one set. Instead of accepting either of these terms despite his own mistake of misquoting the price, or offering a different compromise, he decided to destroy the sets. Needless to say, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. UPDATE: The owner actually emailed me the next day, apologizing for the mistake, and offered the sets to me at $1.75 per sheet, which I calculated to be the original cost which was quoted to me on the phone. Definitely, I support small business as much as humanly possible, but I had already found someone else to do the work (for cheaper, actually)(and for the record, NOT a corporate chain) and had the drawings in hand by the time I received this email. Now here's my thinking: after already having been turned away by one of his employees, and given the fact that he's going to destroy the documents anyway, the owner needs to do more than offer for me to drive back to his store and sell the documents to me at FULL PRICE (which I already offered while standing in the store). I've already spent time, energy and gasoline only to be turned away, and I expect more, if nothing else than a sign of good faith and good business. I really, really, really don't like giving negative reviews, but I feel the need to hold this business accountable. I hope the best for this small business, and invite them to correct this wrong and affect my opinion.
